A couple of weeks ago I bought some new Zoella products to add to my already existing Zoella collection. One of the products I bought is the Zoella Body Fondant Shimmer Balm from the Sweet Inspirations range. At first I thought it wouldn’t be a product for me, but I ended up thinking it might be quite a cool product actually so I ordered it anyway. Today I’m going to review this gorgeous and unique product. If you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!
The Zoella Body Fondant Shimmer Balm comes in a pretty large packaging. It’s entirely made out of cardboard and it looks absolutely amazing. The sides are baby blue and the middle part is baby pink and white striped and designed with some text in a gorgeous font. I think this packaging looks so cute and it’s just super girly. Of course at some point you can feel too old for this, but deep inside packagings like this will always be one of my favourites.
Along with the big beautiful jar you get this little puff. The puff is actually inside of the jar when you get it (on top of a piece of plastic so it won’t get dirty). Even the puff looks just absolutely adorable. It’s extremely soft and I really like how they decorated the little strap. Everything about this product looks perfect!
Zoella Body Fondant Shimmer Balm – €12
What I did find a little confusing about this product is what its exact purpose is. I mean a shimmer balm sounds really nice and fun, but what are you supposed to do with it? I have to say that Feelunique (where I bought it) doesn’t give away too much detail about this product and what its purpose is. The only thing they say is that it smells really good and that it’s an irresistibly smooth balm that instantly illuminates the skin to give a gorgeous, healthy glow.
I know that might sound clear and to the point, but to me it’s still a little vague. I mean I know that it’s a balm and that it will add a glow to your body, but that’s still a little vague. I mean that might just be what it is and nothing more than that, but I feel like there’s something more.
After doing some research I found out this is a body illuminator that you can put on your arms, legs and décolletage if you’re going on a night out for example and you want those areas to look a little more special and pretty. Some people do this with regular highlighters, but this supposedly works better and is a less expensive option. So what I learned from that is that it’s something you shouldn’t use as a body balm all over your body like you would do with a body butter, but it’s something to put on specific areas purely for the nice glow that it will give your skin.
Knowing that, let’s actually jump into the interesting part of the review: let’s talk about the product. The balm does come in a big jar but the pan in which it comes isn’t too deep. The balm is very smooth and soft and it has a really nice scent to it. The same scent as the shower gel and the body lotion from the range. It smells like macaron and vanilla in a subtle but sweet way. I do like it, but it is a very sweet and girly scent and I don’t think it’s for everybody.
The balm itself has a brown colour, quite a dark brown actually. Because of that I thought this might actually be something like a glowing body bronzer. You know one of those products you can smear all over your body to make yourself look a little more tanned. But that isn’t it. It might seem pretty dark brown, but that brown colour will become transparent once you put it on your body. I wanted to include a picture of it, but it was nearly impossible to really capture the product on camera like that.
What it does do is give your body a nice glow. The glow that it adds to the skin is very subtle and definitely nothing to extreme. If you really want some extreme glowing you’re better off using a highlighter or a more intense shimmer balm.
Like I said the balm has this really nice feeling to it. It’s very balmy and smooth and surprisingly enough it’s not sticky, thick, heavy or greasy at all. It spreads out very nice and evenly, even if you don’t use the puff that comes with it but your hands. I also like that it doesn’t clump up in places, it’s not something that will look patchy or blotchy.
The only thing I was kind of scared of was that this balm would transfer onto anything like your clothes, your bedsheets and what not. I thought it would do that because it is a balm rather than a cream and therefore it doesn’t really sink in to the skin like a cream would. This is more like a layer on top of your skin. I have to say that so far I haven’t seen any balm-marks on my clothing or sheets, but I still don’t think it’s impossible.
Overall I do like this product. It adds a really nice and healthy glow to the skin and it has a really nice and balmy texture that isn’t greasy or tacky at all. I also like that it has such a nice scent and I absolutely love the packaging it comes in. I don’t think it’s a necessary product to have, but it’s a nice summery product if you like your skin to look a little more glowy.
And that’s it for todays review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you ever use shimmering balms like this one!
Ik vroeg me ook al af wat het was xD maar klinkt toch wel fijn! Vind de verpakking ook zo leuk gedaan 😀
