Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Le Teint Foundation

14/10/2017

A couple of months ago, when we were still on summer break, I bought myself the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Le Teint foundation. I saw it in someone’s Youtube video and I was so impressed by how it looked that I ended up buying it myself. I’ve been testing it for a while now, but because I have so many foundations to test and review I didn’t find the time yet to write a review about this foundation for you guys. Luckily today there is some time to do that, which is why today I’ll finally be reviewing the YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint Foundation. If you’re interested in finding out everything about this gorgeous looking beauty, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start off by discussing the packaging, shall we? The YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint foundation comes in a very elegant yet simple packaging. The shape of the bottle is rather simple, it actually reminds me of the Rimmel True Match foundation, but the design is what makes it elegant. The bottle is made out of glass and for the most part it’s clear. It comes with a pump, which is gold, and a lid that is gold as well. The lid actually closes in a very unique way. It doesn’t ‘click’ onto the bottle, it just slides onto it. It may sound very vague, but I do really like that about it.

Another thing I like about the bottle is the fact that it feels pretty hefty. That might not be ideal for travelling, but just at home I like it. It adds a luxury feeling to it, which is something I personally really appreciate. Especially if something actually is very luxurious, like this foundation is.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Le Teint – €53

According to YSL their Touche Eclat Le Teint is the foundation version of their popular Touche Eclat ‘concealer’. It’s supposed to be a lightweight, naturally radiant foundation with medium coverage. It’s going to target dullness to instantly improve the skins’ brightness and luminosity. It also has SPF22 to protect you from the sun and Vitamin E to protect from free radicals. Overall it leaves you with a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look.

I do think they used really nice wording for their claims, they make it sound very special and unique even though the claims aren’t that unique or extreme. I mean it’s not the first foundation that claims to be weightless and brightening. However, I do really like those claims. A few years ago I only used mattifying foundations because of my oily skin, so things like this that do the opposite of mattifying your skin were things I wouldn’t even think of getting. Nowadays, even though I still have pretty oily skin, I can appreciate that dewy look which is why I wanted to give it a try.

Having said that, let’s jump into the details. This foundation has a very nice formula. It’s pretty thin and runny and a little bit of it goes a very long way. That’s already plus one for this foundation because this way it will last me much longer. I also like the thin formula because it’s very weightless. It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing foundation when you are wearing this Touche Eclat Le Teint. I personally don’t mind it when you can actually feel a foundation sitting on your skin, but wearing something a bit more weightless like this is more comfortable, I can’t deny that.

Another thing I like about the formula is how satin like it is and how it really melts into the skin. I think that that’s exactly what makes this foundation so special. What makes it stand out from the rest. It really is about how it applies. This foundation seems to just melt into the skin, it glides on even if you don’t use a primer underneath it. Because of that it’s very quick to work with and it you’ll always be left with a flawless result.

Another aspect of this foundation I really like is the finish. This foundation has this really pretty and radiant finish. It’s a bit more on the dewy side, but it’s definitely not oily looking whatsoever. It’s very smooth and even and I like that. That smooth look really defines this foundation. Honestly, if I had to describe this foundation in one word I would go for smooth.

But that wasn’t the point here, I was talking about the finish. The dewy, radiant finish. Because of this dewy and radiant finish your skin looks more healthy and less dull. So if I had a terrible night sleep and I’m completely exhausted, this is the perfect product to go for. It just takes away everything that might possibly make me look dull and turn me into someone who’s slept for a million hours that night. How amazing is that?

One thing I did forget to mention before is the shade range. In the Netherlands this foundation comes in 16 different shades. I know that in other countries there are more shades available, but if you’re like me and you live in the Netherlands, 16 shades is all you have. The shade I bought is called B10 Ivory. This was the lightest shade I could find, but sadly it’s actually not light enough for my skin tone.

B10 Ivory has a very yellowy undertone. Usually I do like yellow undertones and they do suit me really well, but this one is just a bit too dark. However, if I blend it well and lighten it up a little using concealer I’m still able to wear it, but I’m sad it requires that amount of work. I mean I don’t mind, I’m happy to do that if that means I can get to wear a foundation this pretty, but I just don’t get why brands don’t come out with better shades!

I literally look so creepy on these pictures, but okay. Let’s look at the foundation and not at my face. YSL claims that this foundation has medium coverage and I definitely agree with that. I actually think it’s medium to full coverage and by building it up you can even get pretty full coverage out of this foundation. I know it’s pretty hard to tell by just looking at one picture, but this foundation really has a very pretty finish. It doesn’t show up as well on camera as it does in real life, but especially after a couple of hours this looks pretty amazing.

Another thing I’m really happy about when it comes to this foundation is that it is so forgiving to all of my blemishes and other skin problems. For example, I have a huge pimple on my nose and lots of foundations do look terrible on top of that. This one doesn’t, it just glides over it seamlessly and covers it up. It also doesn’t look patchy or weird on my nose and it doesn’t break up on my nose area throughout the day, which is something I struggle with with lot’s of other foundations.

The staying power of this foundation, by the way, is incredible. They say 8 hours but it’s more. This foundation stays in place all day, even if you’re wearing it for 12 hours straight. It doesn’t budge, it actually only gets prettier and prettier throughout the day.

Overall I’m just madly in love with this YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint foundation. It really is everything you could ever want in a foundation and that’s just amazing. I know it comes with a hefty price tag, but in my opinion this foundation is worth it. And I know I say that a lot, but this foundation wowed me. I knew it was going to be amazing, but I didn’t expect it to be this incredible. It makes my skin look so smooth and flawless and it stays in place so well. You really have to try it to understand how amazing it is!

And with that being said it’s time for me to end this post. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which foundation is your current favourite!
