I don’t know about you, but ever since I was a little girl who was starting to fall in love with makeup I’ve always adored the brand Yves Saint Laurent for their stunning and luxurious packagings. I never really thought I’d one day end up with some of their products in my collection. One product that has been on my mind for the longest time is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer. You know, the one with the golden flecks in it. Recently I went on a shopping spree and I finally decided it was time for me to give it a try. So, that’s what I did. And today I’m reviewing it. So if you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about the stunning Touche Éclat Primer, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off by talking about the most amazing thing about this entire product: the packaging. Like all YSL products, this primer comes in a stunning and extremely luxurious looking packaging. The bottle is made out of glass and it comes with a golden pump. The lid itself is golden as well and it does feel nice and hefty. What I love about it, is how the lid closes. It doesn’t really click or anything like that. It just glides on the bottle very smoothly. It’s a phenomenon that is very hard to describe, so if you’re really curious right now I do recommend just going to the store and trying it for yourself. But it’s a very pleasing feeling. I love it.
The bottle does have a nice size. It comes with 30 ml of product, which is a very acceptable and standard amount when it comes to products like this. And best of all: you only need one pump to prime your entire face. Therefore this bottle will last you for ages. I’ve been using it for over a month now and it still looks like I haven’t even used it at all.
Overall this product looks absolutely stunning. I love the golden details. It might be a bit over the top for some of you, but for me this is just the most stunning thing ever. I also love how the bottle is made out of glass and you can see the golden flecks through it. It’s such a luxurious product!
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer – €50
Having thoroughly discussed the packaging, let’s start talking about what’s really important here. What’s inside of the bottle. According to YSL their Touche Éclat Blur Primer camouflages imperfections using an optical effect with no extra coverage. It visibly minimises the appearance of pores. It also is supposed to make the foundation look more glowy and have a more perfect finish. They recommend using either your fingers or a brush to apply it with.
First of all, I do apply this using my fingers. I’m used to applying primers with my fingers but another reason why I do it is because brushes can take up some of the product and your fingers won’t. And if you do have a luxury product like this, I’m pretty sure you don’t want it to be sucked up by your brush. And therefore using your fingers is recommended. If you do use your fingers to apply this primer with, one full pump of it is more than enough to cover your entire face. I do have a rather small face, but I think a pump will still be enough for people who have a normal sized face.
What I like about this primer is that it’s very easy to apply. It does really have that kind of silicone feel to it, which is something I definitely used to hate back in the day. However, somehow it works for me now. Instead of really rubbing it into my skin I do like to ‘swipe’ it all over my face. I don’t know if this is a term in the beauty industry or not, but I hope it makes sense. This way it’s very easy to dispurse and it won’t start to create these really weird textured pieces of my face in combination with the products I have used underneath.
Anyway, enough about the texture and the way it applies. Let’s start talking about something far more important: whether it actually does something for me or not. I have to say I was a tad bit skeptical about that at first. I’m always a bit skeptical about primers in general. However, this product really convinced me. Because of the silicones in this product, your skin will become incredibly smooth after applying the product. This helps a lot when it comes to applying your foundation and concealer on top of it. I really noticed that everything is applying so much smoother. I never have to worry about blotchy foundation or anything like that anymore. It just glides on when I use this primer underneath.
The gold flecks in this primer don’t completely disappear when you’ve applied it. But they don’t seem to bother me either. At first it seemed a little strange to me to have these flecks of gold all over my face, but they are very subtle and you can hardly notice them from a proper distance. What they do do for me is that they make my face look a bit more radiant and healthy in a very natural and settle way. I really like the result that gives.
In terms of keeping my makeup in place for longer I definitely am positive. I didn’t really think it would, especially because it’s quite a slippery product, but somehow it does an amazing job at keeping my makeup in place all day long. It really surprised me on that front!
Overall the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer did really surprise me. Of course I didn’t expect to hate it, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. But I didn’t expect it to work this well for me. To be honest, this does feel a bit like magic in a bottle. Part of that feel might be caused by the whole YSL packaging and the golden flecks in the product, but the product itself actually is amazing and it really does something for my skin and overall makeup look. It is a luxury item and definitely not the most necessary one ever, but if you do want to invest in a good primer, this really is the bomb!
And that’s everything I have to say about this gorgeous and luxurious looking primer. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this primer and whether or not you think it’s worth splurging on!
