Back when I ordered the Dior blush I reviewed a few days ago, I also ordered a YSL lipstick. I have always wanted one because for me having a YSL lipstick meant you made it into makeup heaven. So, without blabbering too much about it: I’m going to review this gorgeous YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick today and if you want to read it, you might want to click the continue reading button!
Let’s start off with discussing the packaging or otherwise said: the eye catching part of this lipstick. I think most girls know what a YSL lipstick packaging looks like so I’m not going to spend too many words on it, but in short: I absolutely adore the way this packaging looks.
I know that the gold might look a little tacky to some of you guys, and I totally get that. In a very objective way I could think it’s kinda tacky too. However, the packaging feels quite heavy and the material they used to make it feels very high quality, which brings me back to thinking it’s just a gorgeous luxury packaging.
The colour I chose is called 47 Beige Blouse. It was actually a slightly impulsive decision to go for this shade. Usually I look up about 6 million reviews before I buy anything, but this time I just saw it in the store, I put it on my lips and I decided I wanted it. Because it was sold out I ended up ordering it online which makes it a little less impulsive, but let’s be honest, it still is quite impulsive.
I think that those who have been following my blog for a while know that MAC Peach Blossom is my holy grail lipstick. That because it used to be the most perfect everyday pink colour for my skintone/complexion/lips, etc. I said used to be because, even though I thought it wasn’t possible, I found an even more perfect shade: this one.
It was actually terribly difficult to actually catch the colour on camera. On these pictures it comes off as quite a dark shade, it almost seems red. But that’s not even close to being the case. The part in the middle (inside the YSL logo’s) is a more like the actual shade. It’s very natural and everyday-proof and I love that.
But enough about the colour, let’s move onto the quality. I think it’s a well known fact that YSL isn’t the most affordable brand in the world. It’s actually quite expensive. I personally don’t mind spending a little (or a lot) more money on a makeup product, but it does have to be exceptionally good in order for me to think it’s actually worth the money.
Pigmentation wise this lipstick is just perfect. It’s pigmented, it’s rich and it even has a really pretty finish to it. Nothing bad to say about that. Texture wise it’s even more amazing: it’s exceptional! When I first applied it I was in shock about how smoothly this lipstick went on. It’s like a butter that has been out of the fridge for a while. It feels smoother than silk and softer than a super soft blanket. It’s just mind blowing!
The only slight downside about this exceptionally amazing lipstick is the fact that it doesn’t stay on your lips for that long. It’s definitely the most comfortable lipstick I have ever worn, it’s lightweight, hydrating and smooth, but it just doesn’t stay in place for longer than 3 to 4 hours, especially not if you’re going to eat or drink.
For me the fact that it isn’t the most longwearing lipstick isn’t really a big deal. This lipstick probably isn’t made to be incredibly long wearing and the wearing time isn’t the most important thing to me when it comes to lipstick. Aside from that I didn’t expect it to stay in place that long considering the fact that it’s such a creamy lipstick. But if you do think wearing time is very important, you’re not going to like this.
Overall I’m just in love with this lipstick. It’s the prettiest lipstick I have ever seen, the colour is just perfect for me and the quality of the lipstick is exceptional. I have never felt something so smooth and luxurious on my lips and I don’t think I’ll ever feel something on my lips that is any better than this. I love it and I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in the mood to spoil yourself!
The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in 47 Beige Blouse is available at Douglas and Ici Paris for €36,95.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which YSL lipstick is your absolute favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
