Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candies Lipstick

15/03/2018

Shockingly enough it’s actually almost a year ago since I bought this Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm. I bought this back in Warsaw last summer. I found it in the sale section and for some reason it really caught my eye. I love the Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks and I love wearing brighter colours of lipstick in summer, so this seemed like the perfect product for me to buy and give a try. Of course I didn’t wait until now to actually start wearing it, I’ve worn it a lot of times already, but I just haven’t reviewed it yet. And since I’m almost going to Warsaw again I figured it might be fun to finally review this guy today. So that’s what I’m going to do. If you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!

First things first, the packaging. As you guys probably already know the Yves Saint Laurent makeup products always come in these gorgeous, extravagant and overall just very luxurious looking packaging. I personally really love it, but I can see where people who think it’s a little tacky are coming from.

Anyway, I personally really like the look of the packaging of this lipstick. Usually the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte lipsticks come in golden packagings, but since this is from a different range this particular lipstick actually comes in a silver packaging. The YSL logo around the tube is golden and through the logo you can see the colour of the lipstick, which is standard for YSL lipstick packaging. The lipstick itself feels very nice and hefty which adds to the luxurious experience this lipstick gives and it also feels very well made.

Overall I think that the packaging looks absolutely stunning and I love every single thing about it. It’s a gorgeous luxury product!

Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Colour Balm – €37,50

The thing that sets YSL lipsticks apart from all other lipsticks ever created in this world is the fact that they have such an amazing formula. These YSL lipsticks are the creamiest, softest and most comfortable lipsticks to wear. This lipstick doesn’t just look luxurious, it also feels very luxurious on the lips. It’s an amazing sensation and it’s also part of the reason why I think YSL lipsticks are worth the investment.

But this isn’t a regular YSL lipstick, nope, this is one from the Sheer Candy collection within the YSL lipstick range. This collection is full of bright coloured lipsticks that are more like a tinted lip balm rather than a lipstick. Therefore they are a little more sheer on the lips but also more moisturising than the regular YSL lipsticks. This does sound a little too good to be true to me since I already think that the regular YSL lipsticks are incredibly hydrating, but obviously I was willing to give it a try and see whether this was actually more hydrating or not.

In terms of the shade, I bought the shade called Tangy Mandarine. Most shades from this Sheer Candies collection are very bright and colourful and so is this one. This is a bright orange colour. It also has a hint of red in it, but generally speaking I do think this is mainly an orange lip colour. It’s definitely not a shade I’d normally go for, but because this is supposed to be sheer I was willing to give it a try.

What the colour actually looks like on my lips will be revealed within a few seconds (or right now if you just scroll down), but in my opinion it does look pretty wearable even though this is, or at least seems like, an incredibly bright lip colour.

Anyway, before we get more into detail about the pigmentation of the lipstick and such things, let’s first discuss the formula and the way it applies. Normally the YSL lipsticks are incredibly soft, smooth, creamy and rich but also a little balmy. I really love that texture and the way that feels on the lips so I had high hopes for this lipstick and hoped that it would feel the same way.

And I don’t think it’s a big surprise to any of you, but obviously this lipstick didn’t disappoint me one bit. It definitely lived up to my expectations. In terms of texture I think this lipstick is pretty similar to the regular YSL Rouge Volupte Lipsticks. It’s just as smooth, soft, rich and creamy and it also has that balmy sensation to it. I love how you can just sweep it on without any effort and still get that beautiful made-up look that makes it look like you actually spent time on your lip makeup.

Another big plus about this lipstick is that it wears very comfortably. All YSL lipsticks do, but I feel like this lipstick is even more comfortable to wear than the Rouge Volupte ones. It’s a little less heavy on the lips because it’s a sheer product and that is a good thing to me. It also has a bit more of a glossy finish rather than a creamy finish and, like I mentioned before, it is a little more moisturising.

Pigmentation wise I think this lipstick is just perfect. It is a sheer colour but it does have enough colour pay-off for anyone to notice that you’re actually wearing lipstick and to be able to see the colour of it. I think it looks absolutely stunning. It’s a gorgeous juicy looking colour and especially perfect for the more summery months that are coming up very, very soon.

The last thing I want to mention about this lipstick is the fact that it doesn’t just feel hydrating while you’re wearing it, I actually think it hydrates the lips in the long run. After wearing this lipstick for a full day the quality of my lips does improve and I have way less dry patches on my lips. It really is a miracle product!

Overall I’m just a big fan of the Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candies lipstick. It took me forever to review it but I’m glad I finally did do it because it made me re-realise how much I love this product. It’s just as amazing as the regular YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks, but even more comfortable and hydrating and with a fun, sheer colour to it. I’m in love with it and I can’t wait to wear it all summer long!

That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what your experience is with the YSL Rouge Volupte Lipsticks and what you think of this Sheer Candies range!

My favorite lipsticks in my makeup bag is my YSL ones, but I’ve never tried this collection from them. I actually will buy one now because of your positive review. This was really interesting.
