About half a year ago I bought a new translucent loose powder. I’ve been a huge fan of those for years, but the one I loved the most got discontinued, so I was forced to try something new. The one I ended up buying was the Vichy Dermablend Translucent Loose Powder. A big tub filled with lots of white powder, sounds amazing. At first I wasn’t going to review it, but since I now repurchased it and because I just really love it so much I decided to do so anyway. So, if you’re interested in finding out why I like this powder so much, make sure you keep on reading!
The Vichy Dermablend Translucent Loose Fixing Powder comes in a pretty big tub. The tub contains 28 grams of powder which is, compared to other loose powders, quite a lot. I like the fact that it comes with so much product since I use a lot of powder since my skin is very oily and just needs it. Aside from that I also use it to bake my under eye area, so I usually run out of powder pretty quickly.
The tub it comes in is very basic but professional looking. It’s clear and has black details. The packaging is sturdy, it doesn’t leak powder everywhere and the dosing system works just fine. Overall, great packaging.
The Vichy Dermablend powder promises a few things. It says that it’s a fixating powder that extends the lasting time of your makeup up to 16 hours. It says it’s water and sweat proof and that it has a natural looking finish. All together these claims seem and sound very promising, but also a bit too good to be true. So let’s start discussing them.
First things first, the lasting time part. I have to say that I use a lot of products that extend the wearing time of my makeup, so it might work differently for people who use different products than I do, but on me it does kind of work. It really locks in the makeup and makes in stay in place all day.
The water and sweat proof part is the part that sounded the most untrue to me, but in fact Vichy is speaking the truth. I was so surprised by it, but one day when I wore this powder and cycled to a storm, my makeup stayed in place perfectly. I was so extremely surprised when I found out my makeup hadn’t moved a bit, it’s pretty incredible.
The natural finish is the only thing that is a little debatable. It really depends on how much product you use. I personally use quite a lot, so at first my skin can look a little powdery because of this powder, but after a while once my skin has sucked up some of the powder it does look natural. So it really depends on how much you use and on your skin type whether this is true or not.
The powder itself is really fine and easy to use. It adds a nice matte finish to the skin without being cakey. I also like the fact that even though it’s mattifying, it doesn’t make me look unnaturally matte. It does leave a bit of that natural glow to the skin which you want.
I also really like that the powder is actually transparent. It really doesn’t leave any kind of white layer to the skin, so it’s really the perfect powder for everyone, no matter what skin colour you have.
Overall I’m very positive about this powder. In short it’s the perfect powder for me. You get a lot of powder for your money, it extends the lasting time of your makeup, it’s water and sweat proof, it’s semi-natural looking and it’s really transparent. I really like this powder and it’s definitely one I’ll continue using for a while. I highly recommend giving it a try!

XOXO, Nicole.
Ik gebruik zelf zo’n product niet maar ben wel altijd nieuwsgierig naar het effect. Het lijkt mij een prima product. Sowie is heel goed merk.
