Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

17/01/2016

Urban Deacy Deslick

For years the Urban Decay setting sprays have been the most popular setting sprays ever. I’ve seen them literally everywhere. Because I didn’t really have any kind of positive experience with makeup setting sprays I never really felt like trying it, but for some reason that changed. I just really wanted to know what the fuzz was all about and decided to order a travel size Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray. After putting it to the test it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out of this setting spray changed my mind about setting sprays in general, keep on reading!

UD De-slickMakeup Setting Spray

The Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray comes in a thin white bottle with a grey lid. The travel size, which is the one I ordered, comes with 30 ml of product. I think that’s the perfect amount for if you want to give it a try or for when you’re on the go. The full size version contains 118 ml of setting spray which I think is very decent.

The packaging itself feels very well made and strong enough which is nice. It definitely feels more luxurious than the setting sprays of more affordable brands like The Body Shop or Oriflame, which I have used in the past. Even though the packaging shouldn’t matter and even though the only important thing should be the way it works, I still think it adds something and I like that.

UD Deslick Setting Spray

The firs thing I noticed about this setting spray is that it sprays really nicely. Some sprays tend to spray a lot of product onto one area of the face, but this one isn’t like that. It’s a really nice and even mist. When you spray it onto your face your face won’t be super wet like it would be with those other sprays  and I like that a lot about it.

Another thing that stood out to me is the scent. I don’t like it. It doesn’t really bother me and the scent only lasts for about 3 seconds, but I just don’t like it. It smells very chemical and a bit like alcohol and I don’t like that about it. It’s not a reason why I wouldn’t repurchase or buy it but I would like it better if it smelled a little better.

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

The De-Slick setting spray focusses on three things: oil control, extending the staying power of your makeup and fixating your makeup. Let’s discuss all of those focus points one by one, starting off with oil control.

I have pretty bad oily skin. Well pretty bad, some days it’s just terrible. I have tried everything I could think of in order to get control, but nothing really worked. Most setting sprays I have used in the past actually made my skin even oilier, so I didn’t have any high expectations for this one, but to be honest I’m positively surprised. This setting spray actually keeps my skin from getting oily all day. I’m not kidding, it’s really, really amazing!

UD Makeup Setting Spray

Onto the next focus point: extending the wear time of your makeup. I have to say the Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray really impressed me at this point as well. I have put this spray through a very though test: I tested it while working in a very humid and sweaty environment and it actually survived it. After 6 hours of sweating my makeup still looked like I’d just applied it. Isn’t that impressive?

And lastly the last focus point: fixating your makeup. You might have expected it already but this setting spray does a really good job at that as well. It gets rid of the cakiness and it makes your makeup look absolutely flawless without adding that annoying dewy/oily finish which I don’t want. It also doesn’t make my mascara or liner smudge and it just adds that finishing touch to my makeup.

Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray

I think it’s pretty clear by now that I’m in love with the Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray. It’s literally the best product I have ever tried and I don’t know how I have lived my makeup life without it for so long. It’s just so incredibly amazing. If you have oily skin or if you just need something to make your makeup last, I highly recommend giving this setting spray a go!

The Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray is available at feelunique for €12,15 (30ml)/ €28,35 (118ml).

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you use a setting spray.

Great review. I use the MAC fix+ and since I have dry skin it works pretty good. However I am waiting to try out the UD one for dry skin too.
