My Ultimate Drugstore Musthaves!

24/09/2018

To be completely real with you guys, it has been a while since I last went to a drugstore to shop for beauty products. I do once in a while pick up a shower gel there or a shampoo, but the makeup section doesn’t really attract me all that much anymore. However, recently while I was rummaging through my stash, I did come across quite a few really nice products that are in fact budget proof. So, for today’s post I thought it’d be great to share my ultimate drugstore musthaves with you guys and let you guys know which affordable products I think are amazing. So, if you’re interested in finding out, make sure you continue reading!

The first product is one I’m really excited about. I bought it in London back in February and I already went through two of them. This is the Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting Crayon & Setting Gel. This comes with one of those slanted pencils and a really, really nice eyebrow gel. This product just really impressed me and I love how the gel comes inside the product. How convenient is that. The thing that I love about it, is that the pencil is really nice. It is made out high-quality ingredients, or at least it seems to be, and it’s really easy to create a good looking brow with it.

In addition to that I think that this brow gel is one of the best eyebrow gels I have tried out so far. It is clear, which is a huge plus in my book, and it has a nice formula. It’s not too wet, it’s not too thick but it does make a difference and it does keep my brows in place all day long. The shape of the wand that comes with the brow gel is just great too and it makes it incredibly easy to get your brows to that perfect on-fleek look. I really think that this brow product is amazing and for sure one of the best in the drugstore!

Moving on to some lipstick favourites. Starting off with my beloved L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks. I’ve loved them for years and years and I have talked about them a ton. However, somehow, they didn’t used to get that much attention. Recently L’Oreal kind of re-vamped their collection with a lot of new shades of the Rouge Caresse lipsticks. So hopefully they do get the hype they deserve now.

The thing I love so much about these is that they feel like high-end lipsticks. The texture on them is just so great and so comfortable. These were some of the first lipsticks I was actually able to wear back when I just couldn’t stand the feeling of lipstick on my lips. They are very smooth, balmy and soft and they are not annoying on the lips at all. They just feel like a lip balm. In addition to that they have some really nice shades that all look very pretty on. Because these are more balm-like lipsticks they aren’t very full-on pigmented colours. But that’s exactly what I like about them. Thanks to this range of lipsticks, even reds can be wearable!

I do believe they re-named these lipsticks and that they are now called Color Riche Shine, but they are basically the same thing!

Next up are these Kiko lipsticks. Kiko has been one of my favourite brands since day one. What I love about the brand as a whole is the fact that they make affordable beauty interesting. It’s not a brand like any other affordable brand. It’s actually a very professional looking, high-quality brand that just doesn’t have crazy insane prices.

Some of my favourite products from Kiko are their lipsticks. They have tons of different ranges. They have the Smart Lipsticks which I believe are like the most affordable ones and I think those are really, really amazing. But my very favourites are the lipsticks from the Glossy Dream range. These are a little bit more expensive but the formula on it is just amazing.

In addition to their nice formulas they also have a very wide range to choose from. There are tons of shades available and they keep coming out with more. I just think that this is a very impressive brand and that, especially their lipsticks, are really worth the try. They actually do compete with some of my more expensive lipsticks!

Kiko Smart Fusion Lipstick €3,95 – Kiko Glossy Dream Lipstick €6,95

Moving on to some face products. One of my best loved budget products is the Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer. I once ordered this without having any expectations or hopes for it and it ended up being just incredible. It comes in a really nice small bottle with a pump, it has an amazing smell to it and it just works really well for me. It’s a great base for my makeup that doesn’t feel silicony and that doesn’t do weird things with my skin. It also doesn’t break me out, which might be the most important thing.

The texture on this is what makes me love it so much. As you know it’s just terribly difficult to find primers that are not heavy or silicone-feeling. I just don’t like the feel of that. This came to me by surprise. I didn’t now it wasn’t going to be like that until the moment I first tried it. It has this really nice serum-like formula that feels really lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It’s really easy to spread across your face and it sinks in within seconds. It’s just a really nice product that does its job very well and that is also very affordable.

Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer – €12,95

In terms of correcting I’m a huge fan of Essence. A while ago Essence came out with these Colour Correcting Concealers and I was all about them. I ended up getting the pink and the yellow version and I’m still using them, over a year later. I think that correctors are quite difficult to do right and I feel like Essence mastered it. These two are just phenomenal and they actually brighten up my dark undereye area for me.

Especially the pink one is a favourite, but somehow I can’t find it anywhere. I believe they discontinued the pink and the purple one and they only have the yellow and the green now. However, the yellow version is really great and definitely worth the try too, so if you find them somewhere, be sure to pick them up. They are super, super cheap and they work amazingly!

Essence Colour Correcting Concealers – €2,59

Next up is a very well known favourite. Back in the day everyone used to love this product and even though I was pretty late on the trend, I do absolutely love it too. I’m talking about the NYX HD Blush in the shade Taupe. This is a very nice cool-toned contouring shade and it’s amazing. It’s literally the best contour shade I have in my collection so far and it’s also very affordable.

What I like about it, is that this contour shade works for a lot of people. No matter what your undertone is, this will look very natural and flattering on you. It creates a really pretty realistic shadow on your face, resulting in a nice and sculpted look. But not a heavy sculpted look. In addition to that I also think that the product itself is just really nice in terms of quality. The powder has a really nice feel to it and I do think that the quality is great. So far no affordable sculpting powder has been able to beat this. I don’t use it that often anymore because I also like to use a bronzing powder. However, if I do really want to like sculpt my face, I do gravitate towards this product!

NYX HD Blush in Taupe – €7,20

Moving on to an eyeshadow favourite. I think this one doesn’t come as a surprise since I mention it all the time. It’s my beloved Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade On And On Bronze. But in general, also the other shades they make, this is an incredible product. No high-end product has been able to beat it and that’s why I’m still using it every single makeup wearing day of my life.

I just love how it is a great base and at the same time it does an amazing job at intensifying my eyeshadow look. The colour of this particular one is just perfect for me. It’s the perfect bronzy colour that doesn’t have too much warmth in it. It compliments every single look I create and I also think that this is a shade that could work for literally anybody.

If there’s one thing in this whole entire post that I really want you to try, it would definitely be this product. I’m so passionate about it because it has been my holy grail for absolutely ages now and I just can’t stop using it! Try it! Really, you won’t regret it!

Maybelline Color Tattoo (in On And On Bronze) – €7,19

And I think that is all for today’s post. I do think I have mentioned some great affordable beauty finds. There might not be a whole bunch, but the ones I did include in this post are products I actually really enjoy using as much or even more than their high-end alternatives. So to me that does mean quite a lot.

Anyway, thank you guys so much for reading today’s post. I hope you enjoyed it and be sure to let me know which affordable products are you absolute favourites!
