Tom Ford is one of the most prestigious and luxury brands I know of. Their prices are quite up there and even though I do like to splurge on makeup every now and then, this is a little much even for me. However, a while ago I came across a couple of Tom Ford lipsticks that had a bit of a discount going on so I decided to take that chance and buy some. One of the three I bought is from a more unique range that I hadn’t heard that much of. It’s called the Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Color and to me this seemed like the most autumnal lip product ever. So, since autumn is finally here now I’ve been wearing it quite a lot and that means that it’s time for me to review this lipstick. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about this lipstick, make sure you continue reading this post!
First things first, let’s talk about the packaging. I always love it when a product comes with a really pretty packaging and Tom Ford understands that really well. The very first thing I noticed about this lipstick is that it feels very well made because it is quite a hefty lipstick. You can tell by holding it that this is going to be some serious business. And well, as you guys probably already know, I do really, really like that.
In terms of design and colours they did make something simple yet unique. This definitely isn’t like your everyday lipstick component, but they did keep it rather minimalistic. I do like this combo. The main part of the lipstick is white and it has golden lining all over it. On top of the lid it says TF which are the initials from the brand. I do really like the look of it. The white and gold might come across as a tiny bit tacky, I do see why someone could think that. However, I do like it in a way. Because it has this luxurious feel to it, I feel like somehow it is okay.
Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Color – €56
The Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Color comes in a couple of different shades. Because I was sale shopping I didn’t have that much choice in what shade I wanted to get, but I didn’t mind. The shade I ended up picking up is called Ortranto and in my opinion this is one of the most unique shades out of the bunch. I mean, whenever I do splurge on a lipstick, I don’t want it to be like something I could’ve gotten for much less money as well. It needs to be new and unique and this definitely is that. I do have to say that in the bullet it does look kind of scary. The first time I saw it I wasn’t sure whether it was going to be perfect for me as well. However, when I swatched it I knew.
Because this isn’t just a normal lipstick, but a moisturising one, it is a more sheer formula. Thanks to that the colour won’t be as dark and intense on your lips, which makes it much more wearable. For me that’s definitely a very positive thing, however if you were on the hunt for a nice deep purple autumn shade that is full coverage this might be a disappointment.
Anyway, as you can tell the lipstick isn’t just one shade. It has a little part in the middle that is a lot more light and bright. This is the moisturecore thingy they talk about in the name of the product. According to them that is a moisturising formula enriched with passionfruitoil that will give you luxurious fluidity with a hint of pink.
Having said all that, let’s see what it’s like on the lips. Starting off with a swatch. I usually like to talk a bit more about the texture before I show you guys the swatch I made, however in this case I do think that the swatch will support my thoughts a little bit. As you can tell the lipstick definitely has a proper amount of pigmentation to it, however it isn’t as full on as you’d expect when you look at the product in the bullet. In my opinion it looks really pretty and I definitely think this could be an everyday lip colour for me during autumn. But the colour isn’t my favourite thing about it. I have been struggling with chapped lips lately and normally you’re able to tell. However, as this picture clearly shows, it’s almost invisible when I’m wearing this lipstick. There’s no signs of me having dry lips and that’s because of the amazing moisturecore in this lipstick. It really actually does do an amazing job at nourishing my lips and I love it.
Another thing I love about this lipstick is how rich and smooth the texture of it is. I feel like most high-end lipsticks get this right nowadays, or at least the ones I purchase, but I do think this is a little bit more amazing than I expected it to be. It just glides on to the lips in a very luxurious feeling way. I love how soft it is and how easy it is to work with. I also really like the creamy, healthy finish it adds to my lips. You can tell that this is just an extremely comfortable lipstick, which it really is.
All in all I do think that this Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Color is rather expensive. I’m not sure whether or not I’d spend that much money again on another one since Dior also has nourishing lipsticks with a nice colour that are more affordable than this one and just as nice. However, I’m glad I got the chance to buy it on sale and give it a try because it is a real gem in my collection. Quality wise I have nothing bad to say about it. It does what it promises and it feels so comfortable on the lips. It’s definitely an autumn favourite!
And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post, and be sure to let me know what you think of this lipstick and whether or not you think it’s worth it!
