Get Autumnal With The Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lip Color in Joaquin

22/09/2018

Tom Ford is by far one of the most prestigeous and luxurious brands that I know of. I’ve always dreamed of buying some of their products, but up and till a couple of weeks ago that never actually happened. Until I came across these lipsticks at Douglas in Warsaw. That was the moment I finally decided to indulge and give some of the Tom Ford lipsticks a try. I bought three different lipsticks and today I’m going to review the first one. This is a lipstick from the Lips & Boys collection and I’m more than excited about it. So, without further ado, if you’re interested in reading more about this lipstick, make sure you continue reading!

First things first: let’s talk about the packaging. As you can tell this Tom Ford lipstick is looking stunning. It has a gorgeous black with golden packaging going on and I think that it looks really luxurious. It doesn’t have much fuzz to it at all, the packaging is actually rather simple. But that does make it classic and iconic, something that I do really like. All it says on the packaging are the initials of the brand, which you can see on top of the lid, and on the bottom of the tube it says what shade it is. That’s all. How stunning!

One thing that did really surprise me when I first held this lipstick is the fact that it is very tiny. It actually comes with 2.0 grams of product. Compared to the 2.5-3.0 grams you’d get in a regular sized Tom Ford lipstick, I don’t think that’s all that bad. However it just looks really tiny. Price-wise this is a way better deal, but from the looks of it, it might look a bit like a sample to you. At least I didn’t expect it. It’s handy for on the go, but well, I wouldn’t have hated it if it looked bigger.

Tom Ford Lip Color Lips & Boys in Joaquin – €35

Having discussed that, let’s talk about the colour. The colour I bought is called Joaquin. The lipsticks from the Lips & Boys collection all have manly names and I like that a lot. I also really like that they used some more unique names, instead of regular ones only.

Joaquin is a really pretty autumnal colour in my opinion. It’s a bit of a mixture between a bright pink colour and a berry shade. It does have some fuchsia tones to it, but in other lighting it can look like it’s a full on berry. I do like that about it, the fact that it isn’t just a basic colour that you can immediately name. Anyway, it isn’t the most natural or wearable colour in the whole wide world, so it’s definitely not something I’d usually go for when I buy my first lipstick from a brand, but I just really fell in love with this colour.

I think this colour is very versatile and very flattering on a lot of different skin tones. It might not be the most flattering colour for your teeth, if you want to make them look more white. But I do think it would look great on lots of people and it is really giving me these autumnal vibes. I can really see myself wearing this all autumn long in combination with a stunning goldeny bronze eye-look and a clean base. So pretty!

Aside from the colour, I was also impressed by the texture of this lipstick. But before I get into the details of that I do first want to talk about the claims Tom Ford has made regarding these lipsticks. According to Tom Ford this lipstick has an ultra-creamy texture with and incredibly smooth application. The specially treated color pigments in this lipstick are blended to deliver pure colour with just the right balance of luminosity.

And that’s basically all they have to say about it. I do like that they aren’t too extreme with their claims. But what I especially like is that what they are saying is true. This really is the most creamy and smooth lipstick that has ever touched my lips so far. My best friend happened to buy a lipstick from the same range and I remember her swatching it and putting it on for the first time and being amazed by how good it actually felt on her lips. And I totally agree. It’s like the perfect balance of smoothness and creaminess. It isn’t too thick or whatever, but you do feel that it’s not just petroleum jelly in there.

Because of the smoothness of the lipstick it just glides onto the lips, causing the application process to be extremely quick. It takes about a split second for it to get onto your lips perfectly. Because of the nicely shaped lipstick it’s easy to stay inside the lines and therefore you really don’t need anything like a brush to apply this lipstick perfectly. How nice is that?!

When it comes to the pigmentation of this lipstick I think it’s clear that this is a full on, pigmented lip colour. I mean look at it. It looks absolutely stunning and all I’m wearing on this photo is just one simple swipe of lipstick. How incredible is that? I think that you can clearly tell what a nice quality lipstick this is just by looking at it. Because of the pigmentation, but also because of the formula and the finish of it.

This lipstick clearly has a creamy finish and those are my favourite kinds. Somehow I think that creamy finishes create a very healthy look, which I think is pretty. In addition to that it’s also one of the most comfortable finishes to wear because it actually feels very hydrating on the lips.

One thing I did expect, due to the smooth and creamy texture, was that this wasn’t going to be a very longlasting lipstick. Lipstick like this usually don’t make it through a meal. However, this lipstick has something in it that makes it stick to your lips for like half a day to a full day long. It almost seems like it stains your lips in a way. Of course the top layer and the real creaminess will fade after a while, but your lips will stay tinted for much, much longer. If you’d apply this in the morning, your lips will still be slightly tinted when you get home from wherever you went off to. That really impressed me!

All in all I think that this Tom Ford Lip Color from the Lips & Boys range is just absolutely incredible. Lately I had been pretty bored when it comes to trying new lipstick. I liked what I had and I didn’t feel like experimenting anymore. However, this lipstick really changed that. I know that it’s definitely a splurge and probably not worth it for all of you, but quality-wise this is such a high level product. You really can’t compare this to anything else. It’s very boojie, but it’s worth it for me. I love myself a good luxurious lipstick and this is it. So if you do like luxurious lipsticks as well, you might want to give this one a try!

That will be it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what colour you’d buy if you were buying a Tom Ford lipstick!
