The Original Beautyblender

26/01/2016

The Original Beautyblender

For years I have told myself the Beautyblender just wasn’t really my thing. I told myself that I wasn’t a fan of using sponges to apply makeup. It just didn’t work for me and I didn’t get why everyone was so obsessed with the Beautyblender. But a while ago something changed. All of a sudden I felt the urge to try the real Beautyblender. I have tried some replica’s, but those were all pretty terrible. I just wanted the real deal. I decided to buy it and give it a shot and today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not Ā I changed my mind about the Beautyblender, keep on reading!

The Beautyblender comes in a small plastic container. It’s designed with fun little polka dots and a bit of text. Inside the container you will find the actual sponge. The sponge itself is bright pink. I really like that it is because it looks so fun and bright and for some reason it just really lightens up my mood in the morning.

The first difference I noticed between this sponge, the actual Beautyblender, and the replica’s I’ve tried is that this sponge it way lighter and softer. It’s not as heavy and dense as the other ones, which make applying your foundation/concealer with it much more comfortable. The replica’s can be quite hard and therefore sometimes even painful to use. If you struggle with that problem, definitely invest in the real deal, it’s worth it.

The Original Beautyblender Pointy Side

The Beautyblender has two sides: the pointy side and the big round side. The pointy side is amazing for applying product in small areas. You can work very precisely with it. I like using it to blend in the concealer Ā I put underneath my eyes. It’s very easy to get really close to the edges with this side and it blends in the concealer like no other.

The thing I like about the Beautyblender is that it makes my makeup look so much better. It blends everything in so naturally and perfect looking. I honestly think that if I use this sponge to blend my makeup, my skin looks way more flawless and way more natural at the same time.

The Original Beautyblender Round Side

The big round side is perfect for blending in foundation, which is what I use it for on a daily basis. Because you dampen the sponge before use the foundation will look really natural and well blended. I never struggle with parts of my foundation being unblended when I use this and instead of it being a layer on top of my skin, it’s now really blended in with the skin.

So as far as blending foundation and concealer goes, this sponge is absolutely amazing. I’m actually pretty blown away by how my foundation and concealer has been looking ever since I started using this sponge. But despite the positivity, there is a little downside to this sponge: you have to wash it after every single use.

Using this Beautyblender is amazing, but because you do have to clean it after every single use, it does take in quite some time. I have to say sometimes I clean it after using it twice instead of once, but still, it takes a lot of time. Actually cleaning it takes a while too and it costs lots of soap. You have to keep rinsing it until all the stains are gone, which takes forever, and for some reason after using it once I already got a stain in there that just doesn’t seem to go away. I’ve gone over that area a million times now, but it just won’t fade away.

The Original Beauty Blender

Overall I’m positively surprised by the Beautyblender. I’m so glad I decided to give it a chance. It really changed my makeup game. My foundation looks so much more flawless and well blended since I use this sponge and I just love everything about it. The only little downside is the cleaning part, but aside from that, I’m all positive. I highly, highly recommend giving the Beautyblender a chance if you haven’t done so already!

The Original Beautyblender is available at beautystores (like Ici Paris) and online for €19,95.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you like using the Beautyblender as much as I do!

Wat fijn zeg dat je super tevreden bent over die beauty blender. Ik heb er ook een paar namaak, maar nog nooit een echte gekocht. Ik gebruik meestal een foundation blush.

I have to agree with you about the original being the best! I bought a drugstore brand sponge and I may as well have blended with a rock!

It makes such a big difference right?! I don’t get why drugstore versions are so hard.
