To be completely, bluntly honest with you guys, throughout the last couple of years I have been gravitating more and more towards more luxurious beauty products. I think you might have noticed that because of the products I review these days. But it happened. I can try and find a lot reasons to explain it, but the main reason why it happened is because I just really like it. I do. However, I still haven’t fallen out of love with a ton of more affordable product. There’s still plenty I like from the drugstore. And in today’s post I’m going to show you guys some drugstore favourites, from beauty products to makeup. So, if you’re interested in finding out which budget products still have a place in my heart, make sure you continue reading this post!
Yes the brow gel is clear, it’s just used haha.
Let’s start off with a simple product, a brow gel. My first ever brow gel was this clear one from Essence. Throughout the years I’ve tried and tested many others, but to this day I still love using the Essence Lash & Brow Gel. It comes in the most hideous clear and blue packaging, but it works amazing for me. It sets my brows into place, it doesn’t make them look crunchy and it doesn’t add colour to them. It just works really well. It’s only €1,99 which makes it even more amazing and therefore it’s by far one of my favourite budget proof products!
Also from Essence, I love their lipsticks. At this moment there isn’t a specific favourite, but just their lipsticks in general is what I love. I’ve always loved them because they are the most affordable things ever and their formula’s are just the best. The Essence lipsticks are so super soft to the touch, they are incredibly creamy and super comfortable to wear. They also have tons of shades and the shades they have are all super pigmented. If you are on the hunt for the best budget-proof lipstick ever, go for Essence!
Another budget favourite of mine is the NYX HD Concealer. This is a very popular product and that’s for a reason. Along with my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, it’s just the best affordable concealer on the market. It has amazing amounts of coverage, it’s super easy to blend and it looks natural while leaving your under-eye circles and any other imperfections covered up. They also have a lot of great shades for very pale skin like mine, so if you struggle with finding the right concealer shade in the drugstore, check out these two friends. They might have an option for you!
Some other concealers I think are really nice are the ones from Bourjois. Like the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer and the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer. I think that both of them perform really well and that they compete with my more luxurious favourites in terms of concealers. Both of them have this super silky feeling formula that works great on my skin. They look super natural and are incredibly easy to work with. In The Netherlands they aren’t super affordable, but if you take a look on sites such as Feelunique, Lookfantastic and Asos, you can find a super good deal on them almost always.
The last concealer I really want to talk about in this post is the Catrice Camouflage Cream. I used to use this on a daily basis back in the day and I still really like it. It’s a very high-coverage concealer with a great formula that works amazing for covering up imperfections. I also like using this when I have very bad under-eye circles for that extra bit of coverage. It’s only about 2 Euro’s and that makes it even more impressive.
Moving on to eyeshadow I love the palettes from Zoeva a whole bunch. Like the adorable Zoeva Cocoa Blend Voyager palette and also the Zoeva Nude Spectrum Palette. They are very affordable considering the quality of the shadows and they also have tons of options for you. I love Zoeva as a brand in general, since I think that their products are super high quality. Especially considering the price point they’re at. These palettes are definitely amazing too. I love, love, love using them! I really, honestly do.
A very obvious budget favourite of mine is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On And On Bronze. I think I’ve mentioned this a million times by now but it’s just the best product in the whole entire drugstore. I have been using it daily for years and years and I keep repurchasing it. I think it’s better than any of the MAC Paint Pots I have tried in terms of shade and the formula is fabulous as well. I use this as an eye primer and it gives all of my looks that extra bit of powder. It’s the best in the bizz and I’d die if they ever get rid of it.
Okay moving on to some beauty products like skincare and body care. In terms of body care I really like Dove. They make these amazing deodorants that don’t stain on clothing, which are my favourite. It’s called the Dove Invisible Dry Deodorant and my favourite scent in that is Clean Touch. I love spraying this not just on my body but also on my clothing when I feel it needs a bit of refreshment throughout the day. The scent is strong enough to cover the scent of potential sweat and it’s nice and longlasting.
I also really love the shower gels or creams Dove makes. This summer I fell in love with the Dove Nourishing Secrets Nourishing Body Wash which has a really nice floral scent. These Dove shower gels are super soft and creamy and therefore they actually do feel nourishing on the skin. They don’t leave you feeling stripped and that’s something I really like about them. I also love most of the scents they produce so even when they discontinue one, I know that there’s still a lot more in their collection that I’ll love.
In terms of skincare I’ve been loving the Nivea MicellAIR Skin Breathe Expert Micellair Makeup Remover. It’s just one of the most effective makeup removers I have tried so far and it’s quite affordable as well. It leaves my skin feeling nice and clean and it doesn’t leave behind a greasy layer or something like that. This literally is one of the only products that I’d trust enough to use on its own. It doesn’t break me out and it really removes EVERYTHING! It’s the first non-Bioderma micellair product that I’ve ever loved so that does mean a lot to me.
The last product I wanted to mention is from Nivea as well. It’s their Nivea Silk Mousse foaming shower gel. I bought this a while ago because it was on sale and I was a bit curious about it. I normally don’t like foaming shower products but this really stole my heart. The scent is so amazing and it really has a silky feeling to it. It feels super luxurious on the skin and really nourishing. It’s definitely an amazing product I’d recommend trying. For me the vanilla and caramel scent really does it, but they have a ton of other scents available.
And that’s pretty much it for today’s budget edit. I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my more affordable favourites and be sure to share your budget favourites with me in the comments!
