Tarte has been one of my favourite brands ever for quite a while now. Especially when it comes to their eyeshadows, I just love them. When I saw this little palette on QVC I knew I had to buy it, so that’s what I did. Today it’s time for me to share my opinion about it. If you’re interested in finding out more about this palette, make sure you continue reading!
The Tarte Young, Wild & Free palette comes in a rectangular purple coloured box. When you open it up a relatively small gold palette comes out of it. It’s shiny, gold and covered in pink confetti. On front of the palette it says “Throw kindness around like confetti”, which is definitely a really nice quote. I do not really get why that quote is on the front of the palette while the palette is called Young, Wild & Free, but let’s just not worry about that right now.
The packaging doesn’t feel very heavy, sturdy or luxurious. It’s not what you would expect from a brand like Tarte. However I do like the packaging. It looks happy, girly and fun. It’s not that sturdy but it’s cute so it’s fine for me.
The Tarte Young, Wild & Free palette is a limited edition palette containing 8 limited edition eyeshadows. I actually didn’t know it was limited edition back when I bought it, but it is important to know if you consider buying it.
On one hand I really like the fact that it contains 8 limited edition eyeshadows because they are unique and not everyone has them, on the other hand if you really love some of the colours you can never get them again when you’re out of them.
This palette consists of 8 neutral eyeshadows. Four of which are matte and the other four are shimmery. Some have a chunkier shimmer to them than others but shimmery they are. I like how balanced the shimmery-matte ratio is. If you prefer shimmery shadows this palette is great for you but if you prefer matte shadows it’s great for you too. It’s a win-win situation.
The colour selection in this palette is pretty much perfect. You have your highlighting shade, actually you have 2 of them, you have a medium matte brown shade, 2 shimmery lid shades and 2 shimmery crease colours; a warm-toned one and a cool-toned one and to top that all off it also comes with a matte dark brown shade. If that isn’t the perfect colour selection, I don’t know what is.
So let’s discuss the colours one by one.
Simple Life – Simple life is a very pretty milky matte cream shade. This is my favourite shade to highlight with underneath the brow bone but it’s also perfect for all over the lid if you’re going for a very natural look.
Weekend – Weekend is the medium matte brown shade of the palette. I always use it as a transition shade but it could also be used as your crease colour or even as an all over the lid shade. I really like that it has a more neutral undertone.
Happy Place – Happy place is a shimmery medium brown shade. It has quite chunky shimmers to it and I love putting this all over the lid. Back in the day I would’ve never used it for that, I would’ve exclusively used it in the crease, but to be honest you can use it both ways. I really like this shade.
Lucky Charm – Lucky Charm is another perfect lid colour. It’s a champagne gold shade with very fine shimmer to it. It really lightens up the eyelid and makes you look very awake.
Virtue – Virtue is a darker shimmery brown shade. It’s my favourite colour to use in the crease but if you’re going for a somewhat darker look it could also be perfect as an all over lid shade. It’s shimmery but not too shimmery and it’s super intense!
Dream Team – Dream Team is another shimmery crease colour with a very warm undertone to it. Just like I said a million times already this one could also go perfectly as a lid shade, but I personally prefer using it in the crease.
Party – Party is another highlighting shade. It’s a bit more yellow and warm than Simple Life is but I like it just as much.
Wow – Wow is a very dark cool-toned taupy-brown shade. It’s matte and very dark and perfect for darkening up the look.

Pigmentation wise these shadows are just incredible, just like I expected. Tarte is a very high-quality brand that uses Amazonian Clay in their products. This Amazonian Clay has three main skin benefits according to Tarte:
- It removes surface oil to mattify the skin
- It’s nourishing & hydrating
- It improves the appearance of skin clarity & skin texture
These are very great benefits and definitely things I would want for my skin. Because these are eyeshadows and not foundation or any other skin makeup product I do these benefits don’t really apply as much as they would to skin makeup products, but that’s okay. I do notice that because of the Amazonian Clay the texture of the eyeshadow is very soft and rich. They are slightly buttery and very intense. They also smell really nice.
Aside from that the shadows are also very long-lasting, especially if you use a primer underneath. They stay in place all day and they never loose their intensity. I really like that about these shadows.
The only thing I think is a little disappointing is that these shadows are slightly dusty/powdery. If you have been using the palette for a while it will get a little messy and powdery, but I have that problem with all of my Tarte palettes. I personally don’t really see it as a problem since it’s not powdery on the eyes and it won’t cause fall-out.
Overall I really like this palette. I’m obsessed with the packaging, it’s just adorable and fun and the shadows in this palette are perfect. The pigmentation and the intensity is incredible and the quality in general is just amazing. Tarte definitely didn’t let me down on this one. I’m really glad I bought this palette!
Thank you so much for reading today’s post and let me know which eyeshadow palette is your current favourite!
