A couple of days ago I showed you guys the gorgeous Tarte makeup kit I got. I was super excited about trying out the products, which is exactly what I did. I’ve been wearing the products ever since I got ’em. Today it’s time to review the first product. I’m so excited to tell you guys everything about it. If you’re interested in finding out more about the amazing Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Drenched Lip Splash Lipstick, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with packaging. This Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Lipstick comes in a gorgeous shiny packaging. I do think it’s a packaging you either love or hate, but I absolutely love it. It’s slim but long and has this gorgeous ombré pattern going on.
I love how they used all these different colours and I love how beautifully they blend together. I really think it represents the whole ‘Rainforest of the Sea’ thing. I can’t put my finger on why I think that, but I just do.
There are quite a few lipsticks available from this Rainforest of the Sea collection. The one I got, which was in the kit, is called Plummy Rose. Plummy Rose is a gorgeous, well, plummy rose colour. I would personally describe it as a dusty pink. I love colours like that.
I think the colour is very classic. It’s a colour you can wear on a daily basis and it’s definitely a colour that would look good on many people. No matter what your skin tone is, this colour will look fantastic on you, I’m sure about that, and that’s exactly what I like about this colour.
The lipstick has a very unique texture to it. It’s something I haven’t seen or felt before. This lipstick is as creamy as a butter, it really is. It glides on like a dream and it feels so rich, luxurious and comfortable. However, it does have a (semi) matte finish. Even though it’s clearly stated on the QVC website, I didn’t expect this lipstick to be (semi) matte.
When it comes to pigmentation this lipstick deserves an A+++++. It’s just incredible. This is one of the most pigmented lipsticks I have seen so far and I absolutely love it. It does make the colour a lit less wearable, I have to admit that, but aside from that it’s just amazing.
The thing that impresses me so much is that this lipstick is just so flipping comfortable to wear. I normally tend to stay away from matte lipstick because I just hate the way they feel on my lips. They’re so dry, blotchy and they’re just impossible to apply, especially the super super dry ones. But this one isn’t like that at all.
I do have to say that even though it is a matte lipstick, it’s not one of those lipstick that don’t transfer onto other objects (or people). It does do that a little, but I’m okay with that. The staying power however is really matte lipstick proof. It stays in place incredibly long, for about 5 to 6 hours. If that doesn’t impress you I don’t know what will.
Overall I think this lipstick is the best I have ever tried. The colour is just stunning, the lipstick itself is incredibly rich and buttery and the finish is matte but not drying. You can literally feel how high quality this lipstick is from the first time you use it, it’s insane. I highly, highly, highly recommend giving this lipstick a try. It’s literally, and I mean literally, the best lipstick I’ve ever tried and it’s 100% worth the splurge!
