Like I showed you guys a few days ago I got myself a gorgeous set of Tarte makeup, the Smart Skin RX set. Two of the products in that kit were the famous Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and the Silk Eyeliner. I’ve been trying them out for a while now and it’s finally time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out how I like the eyeliner and if the mascara is really worth the hype, make sure you keep on reading!
Let’s safe the most exciting product for last and start off with the second most exciting product; the Silk Amazonian Clay Eyeliner. The Silk Amazonian Clay eyeliner comes in a pretty basic packaging. It has a smudger on one end and on the other hand it has the pencil. The packaging is pretty clean and basic and is entirely black except for the gold letters.
This is one of those mechanical pencils (I think that’s what they’re called), which I really like. It just way easier than pencils you have to sharpen every so often. This one you just twist up and you’re good to go. The downside is that the point won’t always be sharp, but because I almost exclusively use it for tight lining, that’s not a problem for me.
As you can tell the point of the pencil is pretty sharp when it’s new. It’s pointed and it’s deep, deep black. This really is one of the blackest pencils I have ever owned. It’s rich, deep and perfect for those days you’re really looking for an intense black line.
Because the point is quite sharp it’s definitely a pencil you can use for eyeliner above you lash line, but it’s also a really nice pencil to tight line with or to use underneath your lower lash line to darken up your look. Because it also comes with a smudger, using it underneath your lower lash line will be perfect.
Pigmentation wise I’m really impressed by this eyeliner. It’s one of the most intense, deep, rich and pigmented black pencils I have ever owned. I love using it to tight line with, which is what I did on the picture above. Even though it’s not very clear on the picture, the difference is very noticeable in real life. You can really tell how much thicker and more voluminous the upper lashes look when you use this.
When it comes to staying power this isn’t a disappointing product either. It stays in place all day, doesn’t smudge or transfer onto the area underneath your eyes and it just keeps on looking good all day. I love it!
Next up is the famous Lights, Camera Lashes mascara. I got the version with a special bottom lash wand. The packaging of the mascara looks absolutely stunning. It’s really fancy and cute looking, really girly but also a little edgy. I love it.
The Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara is very famous because it’s supposed to give you the worlds prettiest lashes ever. I didn’t really believe in that because the brush didn’t look at all like the brushes I normally use and love, so I wasn’t too sure. But after giving it a couple of tries I’m sold. And now I’ll tell you why.
This is what the wand for the top lashes looks like. It’s not too special but it works really well. I like how it’s not too big and how it’s not one of those brushes that make you mess up your eyeshadow completely. It’s really easy to work with and it definitely does something for the lashes.
The formula of the mascara is really nice as well. It’s not clumpy, it’s not too soft but it doesn’t make your lashes rock hard either. It’s just a great formula.
The bottom lash mascara has a really teeny tiny wand. This makes applying mascara to the bottom lashes a lot easier. I’m not sure if the formula of the bottom lash mascara is any different than the formula of the top lash mascara, but it does work really well for me.
As you can tell, the mascara adds lots of volume, length and thickness to my lashes. It really finishes up the whole look. It’s one of the best mascara’s I’ve ever tried and I really do get why it’s so popular now. My favourite thing about it is that it does actually stay in place all day. It doesn’t smudge, it doesn’t crumble and the effect stays as amazing all day. I love it!
Overall I really, really like both products. The eyeliner is super smooth and intense and it stays in place all day and the mascara gives my lashes such an amazing and voluminous effect, I really like that. Both products are quite pricey, but really worth the money!
The Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara and the Silk Amazonian Clay Eyeliner are available at QVC.co.uk and Sephora.com
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know which mascara is your absolute favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
Ik heb nu een P2 waterproof mascara die ik wel oké vind :O mascara blijft een struggle. Dat oogpotlood klinkt heel goed en ik zie wel verschil!
