Monday I showed you guys I got myself a few new Tarte goodies. One of the products that I bought was this Tarte Coconut Oil Lipstick in a very pretty pink shade. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not this golden beauty is actually worth the amount of gold you have to put down for it, make sure you continue reading!
The Tarte Coconut Oil lipstick comes, as you might be able to tell, in a shiny gold packaging. The packaging does look really clean and simple but because of the gold it does look quite luxurious. I have to say that I was quite disappointed in the quality of the packaging when I first held it in my hands. The material feels very cheap and crappy and if you shake the lipstick you can hear something moving inside the packaging.
I feel like a brand such as Tarte, a brand I love very dearly, should create better packagings. Seriously all of their packagings are top shelve, but this is quite a miss in my book.
The colour I got is called Rosy Mauve. It’s a very unique colour and I feel like the name describes it very well. I do really like it when a brand gives their lipsticks a name, whether it’s a funny name or just a great description of the colour, it’s just a nice thing in my opinion.
Rosy Mauve is a very pretty wearable pink colour with a twist. It’s not boring or basic, because of the mauve it’s very unique. It’s a combination of nude and berry, my two favourite lipstick shade types. It’s wearable, it’s autumnal and it’s perfect for everyday wear. I really, really like it.
The first thing that came to my mind when I heard this lipstick was called the Coconut Oil lipstick was that it’s was probably going to be smelly. I really, really disgust the scent of coconut so I really hoped this lipstick didn’t smell too much like that. To my surprise it actually ended up not smelling like coconut at all. It just has a very normal, regular lipstick scent. Nothing special about it.
Because of the fact that it’s called Coconut Oil Lipstick I did expect this lipstick to be very moisturising and soft. Coconut oil is known for it’s hydration and it’s unique texture. Because it liquifies at a relatively high temperature it’s in most circumstances in a state in between liquid and solid. I really like that about it. the only thing that does worry me is what it’s going to be like once it’s hot outside.
When it comes to quality this lipstick is beyond amazing. It’s just like I expected and more. It’s super smooth and super easy to apply. It really glides over the lips and leaves a gorgeous pigmented layer of colour. The application of this product literally only took me like 10 seconds. How amazing is that?!
It’s also very pigmented and it applies very evenly. I really like that about it as well. It has a nice and shiny finish but not in a glossy or metallic way, it’s more of a sheen due to the high level of hydration.
Because it does have a shiny finish and because it is so smooth and slippery it’s not the most long lasting lipstick I have ever tried. It is a lipstick your boyfriend won’t be happy with when it comes to kissing and it will leave some traces behind on the glasses you drink from. But in my opinion it’s totally worth it ’cause the shade is stunning!
Overall I think this Tarte Coconut Oil Lipstick in Rosy Mauve is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a very unique and wearable colour and the quality is just beyond amazing. It’s super easy and quick to apply, it feels really nice on the lips and the colour is very pigmented. Yup, I’m happy with it!
The Tarte Coconut Oil Lipstick is available at Sephora.com and QVC for £21,-.
That was it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know how you like the colour of this lipstick!
