Like you guys know by know I recently ordered a few Tarte goodies. One of those goodies was the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation. That foundation has been on my wishlist for ages. Literally ages. I’ve been wanting to try it for so long but because it’s terribly difficult to get your hands on in the Netherlands I never managed to do so. Now that I have it and tested it I’m going to tell you everything about it and give you my honest opinion. If you’re interested in that, make sure you continue reading!
The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation (that really is a long name for a foundation) comes in a very Tarte like packaging. It looks natural because of the wooden lid/cap and the bottle itself is made of a rubbery material. I expected the tube to not be as flat as it is, I don’t really know why. But the fact that it is very flat is actually a good thing since it takes in less space this way.
The tube contains 50 ml of product which is quite a lot for a foundation in my opinion and has SPF 15 in it. SPF 15 is not a lot, but it’s something and that’s great.
The foundation came with this big ass brush. I like my foundation brushes to be quite stiff. They have to be soft of course, I don’t want it to hurt my face, but they have to be tough enough to really blend in my foundation without making it look streaky.
This brush is a bit too fluffy for my liking. It’s not a bad brush, it’s really great for somewhat thinner foundations. But because this Amazonian Clay foundation is quite a thick one I don’t recommend using this brush with it. It’s a great brush, just not for this foundation.
I bought the foundation in the shade Fair Sand. This is the lightest shade available (on QVC at least). I was a little unsure about the shade because it didn’t seem very light on pictures but it ended up being a perfect match for my skin tone. I really love the way it looks.
The thing this foundation claims to do is provide full coverage with a healthy and natural look to it. They also claim that the texture of this foundation is very blendable and buildable and that it feels weightless on the skin and it’s also supposed to stay in place for 12 hours. All those promises make this product seem like perfect product, but is it?
Well it really is. I can’t say anything not positive about this foundation. As you can tell the coverage is amazing. My skin is completely even after applying the foundation and it doesn’t look cakey at all. Even though it’s quite a thick foundation it is super easy to blend using a beautyblender or some other makeup sponge and it really does feel like it’s weightless.
When it comes to staying in place this foundation actually really impressed me. First of all this foundation has a semi-matte finish which I love and the thing I love about it is that that finish stays like that all day, just like foundation does. I’ve really put this foundation through the test. I’ve worn it to work, on extremely hot days, you name it and this product really didn’t budge. It’s absolutely amazing!
I think it’s pretty clear that I’m basically in love with this foundation. I really love the way it looks on my skin. It makes my skin look super flawless and it stays flawless all day. I also really like the way it feels and how weightless it is. This is by far one of the best foundations in the world. By far, literally. If you haven’t tried this I highly recommend doing so. This is the foundation you’re looking for.
The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation is available at QVC and Sephora for about €40,-.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know which foundation is your favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
