Recently I posted a review on the Tarte Golden Cheek Brush that came inside this 4 piece Blush set I bought from QVC. Today I’m going to review the second item from that set, which is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade Genius. If you’re interested in finding out how I like this blush, make sure you continue reading!
Because these blushes aren’t from the regular collection but from a limited edition Christmas set, they come in slightly different packagings than usually. They do have the same shape, but they are slightly smaller and have a little decoration on top of the lid. I think the decoration looks really adorable and I think it definitely makes it a more fun product to look at.
Before we jump into anything let’s first discuss the size thingy. A normal Tarte blush contains 0.20 oz/5.67 grams of blush and costs €28,-. This means you pay €4,94 per gram. The blushes inside this set contain 0.05 oz/1.5 grams of blush. In this set you get four blushes and a brush for €35,-. If you’d calculate it without looking at the worth of the brush you pay €5,83 per gram. Since the brush is obviously worth something you could say it’s not much cheaper than buying one blush looking at the amount of product you get, but you do get four colours and a brush instead of one bigger blush so I still think it’s a great value set!
The set contains 4 different shades of blush: Vibrant, Pop, Royal and this particular one: Genius. When I first looked at this set I figured that Genius was going to be my favourite shade out of the four blushes. It’s a very pretty rosy, plummy pink colour that is gorgeous during this time of year, but could also be worn throughout the rest of the year (obviously).
Because the colour is so neutral yet gorgeous I think it’s a colour that would look good on pretty much everyone. I personally like to think that everything looks good on everyone, which is not always the case (some colours look just terrible on me), but when it comes to this blush I’m a 100% certain it will look good on literally everyone!
The Tarte blushes are made with their Amazonian Clay ingredient which is why these Tarte blushes (and other Tarte products) always have such a unique texture and formula. They always feel a little different than other blushes and I personally really like that. These Amazonian Clay blushes are very soft and velvety and feel very weightless on the skin.
With these Amazonian Clay blushes you never have to worry about it looking patchy, flaky or powdery because of that great velvety and nourishing texture. Another plus that comes with the Amazonian Clay thingy is that they last a lot longer than regular blushes.
Pigmentation wise this one is right about perfect. I never want my blushes to be overly pigmented but of course they do need to show up on my skin. This one is the perfect balance between those two extremes. Depending on what brush you use to apply it with and how much pressure you put on it, this blush will be either very natural or a bit more out there. If you prefer it to be more visible you can definitely build it up and get it to the point you like it.
Like I said, this blush does last for quite a long time. Tarte claims that it stays put for about 12 hours, but I think that’s a little too extreme. However, it will last a good 4 to 8 hours, depending on how often you touch your cheeks, how much you applied and all that kind of jazz.
Overall I’m really glad I got these blushes. Genius is absolutely gorgeous and by far one of my favourite blushes ever. I feel like the texture of the product is really nice and it’s also a very easy and smooth product to work with. The quality is exceptional and it’s also easy to work with. In other words: I love it!
This Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush is part of their Holiday set which is available here for £34.50.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this gorgeous blush!
XOXO, Nicole.
