Summery Makeup Picks To Survive The Heatwave

11/08/2018

At the time I’m writing this post, one of the longest heatwaves I have ever experienced is going on. I’m obviously not sure if it’s still there when you’re reading this, but I’m sure it is. Because it is hot hot hot and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Anyway, personally I’m more of a cold-weather kind of girl so this weather isn’t really something I’m prepared for. But because of the length of this heatwave I have had the time to compose a pretty solid makeup routine to survive this weather. In today’s post I’m going to show you my summery heatwave makeup picks. If you’re interested in finding out which products I think are perfect for this kind of weather, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start off with the base. When it’s this hot outside it’s extremely important to protect yourself. So I always recommend to start your makeup routine off with a sunscreen for the face. My personal favourite is the Biodermal Mattifying Sun Fluid with SPF50. This is a very comfortable sunscreen to wear and it doesn’t break me out or make me look greasy. It also acts as a great base for your makeup since it’s slightly sticky, so your makeup will stick to it! How handy!

For foundation I do like to keep it very light these days. I do like to wear something because I think that’s just an essential in my makeup routine, but that obviously depends on your personal preferences. Anyway, the foundation I like to use is the famous Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Oil-Free. I have been using this for a little over half a year now and it’s the best light weight base product. It evens out my skintone really well and it does cover up quite a lot of my imperfections, but it does feel extremely lightweight. I love the way this looks in summer!

During this heatwave I do have quite a bit of difficulty falling asleep, which results in looking very tired and having dark circles. To cover up the darkness underneath my eyes I like to use my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer because it has extremely good staying power and it does a great job at covering up the darkness. Especially the staying power part is really important to me when it’s this hot. I do want to be covered all day long!

To help with the exhausted look I also like to use some highlighter. As for highlighter I’ve been loving to use the Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighting Stick. This is a creamy stick highlighter that adds a really pretty natural glow to your face. It isn’t too creamy so if won’t melt off of your face, but because of the creamy texture it’s very comfortable to wear. I also like that the glow isn’t too extreme because during these days sweat already does a lot of me glow-wise.

To make me look a little more fresh I like to use the Nars Blush in the shade Torrid. This is a blush with a very fresh look to it. It makes your complexion look more fresh and healthy and it helps me to look more awake. I think it’s a very summer-proof colour, which is why I have been wearing it a ton these days.

Moving on to the eyes and brows. Also during the summery days I like to keep my brows looking on point. To do that I like to use the Estée Lauder The Brow Multi-Tasker. Especially the waxy powder in it works really great when it’s humid out. It really locks in the product and keeps my brows looking amazing all day long. I really love the way that it works!

On my eyes I like to keep things light. To do that I have been loving my Urban Decay Naked Palette again. The first version to be exact. I like to use a bit of Sidecar all over the lid, Buck in the crease and Smog to darken it up. If I really want to go for a more smokey look I also add a bit of Darkhorse to the crease. This results in a very fresh but still put together eye look, which is exactly the look I’ve been going for lately.

As for mascara I like to use something bullet-proof when it’s hot out. Something that will not smudge even when I’m sweating my eyeballs out. My favourite mascara in that area is the Chanel Dimensions de Chanel Mascara. It’s the prettiest mascara I’ve ever used when it comes to the effects and it stays in place incredibly well!

And that will be it for my summer heatwave favourites. These products are bullet proof and have been my absolute go-to’s the past couple of humid weeks! Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which products are your favourites during these hot summer days!

These are some great picks. I love the sound of the biodermal mattifying sun fluid, I definitely need to make sure I’m always wearing a high spf!
