Every year when the sun starts to shine again I really get into sunscreens and more specially using sunscreens. Back in the day I wasn’t the most loyal sunscreen user, but the past couple of years I’ve started becoming more and more loyal to it because I slowly but surely started to realise how important it actually is more and more. Because of that I recently decided to buy myself a new bottle of sunscreen. This time I went for the Biotherm Lait Solaire Hydratant Anti-Drying Melting Milk with SPF50 and that’s surprisingly enough also the product I’m going to review today. So, if you’re interested in finding out if this sunscreen is any good and worth purchasing, make sure you continue reading!
Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start off by talking about the packaging shall we? Like most sunscreen-like products, the bottle this sunscreen comes in is yellow. It really reminds me of the sun and somehow the colour of the bottle instantly makes me happy. Especially the combination of the yellow with the white and blue makes me very excited. I think it looks very good and it reminds me of the sun. I have to admit that I’m not a big sun-lover at all, I much prefer the cold and snow, but I can’t deny that this bottle reminding me of the sun doesn’t make me happy.
Anyway, the main thing I love about the bottle is that it’s this big. The bottle comes with 500 ml of product and that definitely is a lot. I did really want to get a bottle as large as this one because in that case it will last me for quite some time. I have recently read that it’s important to use enough sunscreen, so getting a bottle as big as this one seemed like a good idea for that reason as well.
If you aren’t as extreme as me or if you want a more compact bottle for on the go you can definitely get a smaller size. The smaller sizes however come in a tube instead of a bottle with a nice little pump on top, so that is a bit sad. But well, you’ll survive.
Biotherm Lait Solaire Hydratant Anti-Drying Melting Milk – €36,50
Having said that, let’s talk about what really matters here: the product. I decided to go for the SPF50 version of this sun milk. You can also get it in SPF30 and SPF15. I’m not someone who burns easily at all, but I just get scared knowing how much harm the sun can do to my skin, which is why I always go for the highest amount of SPF I can find. Aside from that my skin doesn’t tan at all so well, I don’t have to worry that it will keep me from tanning since that doesn’t happen anyway.
According to Biotherm their Lait Solaire Hydratant makes sun protection a truly luxurious ritual. Wrapped in the softness of their original ‘lait’ skin is protected from sunlight thanks to a photostable broad-spectrum filter absorbing UVA/UVB. The Lait Solaire also contains Vitamin E and Pure thermal plankton, causing your skin to feel soft and hydrated after every use. They also say that it is citrus-flavoured and will allow you enjoy the sun safely.
Now I do have to say that I can’t really test if it does protect me from the sun all that well, we just have to believe them on their word, but I honestly don’t think they’re lying. I haven’t burned ever since I’ve gotten and started wearing this sunscreen so that’s a positive sign, but then again I don’t burn that quickly.
Moving on to the things I can say something about like the texture of the product. This really is one of those ‘milky’ sunscreens. This means that the texture is quite liquidy which makes it very easy to apply. It’s very smooth and spreadable and I do think that a little bit goes a long way. However, experts claim it’s important to use enough product, so don’t use it to sparingly.
Even though this is a rather thin formula, the product is very hydrating and I like that about it. It’s almost like using a body lotion with a very high amount of SPF in it. It really hydrates my skin and gets rid of dry patches on areas like my elbows. Especially during the summer my skin can get a little dry because it sometimes dries out from the sun, so this really is a great feature to the product.
Another thing I’m very positive about regarding this sunscreen is the scent. If you do not like scented products or perfume in your sunscreen you should definitely stay away from this product, but if you can appreciate a nice little scent to your product this will be great for you. I personally love the scent of sunscreen, it actually motivates me to put on some sunscreen. Just so I can smell like this. While this sunscreen does have that really nice typical sunscreen scent, it also has a hint of freshness to it. Biotherm claims that’s a citrus scent, so since I’m really bad at describing scents I’ll just assume that that’s what makes the product smell fresh.
Overall I think that the Biotherm Lait Solaire Hydratant Anti-Drying Melting Milk with SPF50 was a great purchase. It really is a more luxurious suncare product and every though the luxury isn’t essential, I do like it. It motivates me to wear it more often and that’s a very good thing. Aside from the luxury feel I also think that this sunscreen is just a very high-quality product. The formula of it is really nice and the scent is just phenomenal. I really, really love this sunscreen and I 100% recommend getting it!
That was everything for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with this sunscreen and if not, let me know which one you prefer using!
