For the longest time I’ve been meaning to try one of the Rituals Shower Oils. I used to love their shower foams, but now that I’m not that into foamy shower gels anymore I was looking for something different. Something like a shower oil. A couple of weeks ago I finally decided to get myself one and I ended up getting the Rituals Nurturing Shower Oil in the Ritual Of Ayurveda scent, which is one of my favourites from Rituals. After testing it it’s time for me to review this gorgeous smelling beauty, so if you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!
The Rituals The Ritual Of Ayurveda Shower Oil comes in a gorgeous luxurious looking packaging. It’s a slim, tall bottle with a pump on top. The bottle is red and the pump has a shiny brown colour to it. Overall the packaging is very sleek and very classy and I really like that. It’s definitely a Rituals-like packaging which is great as well. The bottle comes with 200 ml of product which is pretty standard for a shower product, but not extremely much. However, I do feel like you don’t need as much of this product as you do when you’re using an actual shower gel, so therefore I don’t mind that you don’t get a ton of product in a bottle.
The Ritual Of Ayurveda collection -used to be called Yogi Delight- has indian rose and sweet almond oil as two main scent ingredients. I always think that the Rituals products have a very unique and special scent and therefore this doesn’t smell like you’d expect a product with almond oil and rose to smell like, but I do really like the combination. It’s a warm yet sweet scent, which I think is perfect for this time of year. I really love it!

On the front of the bottle, at the bottom, Rituals let us know which are the main scent ingredients in this product. On the back they give us a little more information on the product itself and how to use it. They keep it very short and sweet, but that’s exactly how I like it. On the Rituals website they tell us that when this oil comes in contact with water it turns into a satiny soft foam, which will make your skin incredibly soft to the touch. They also say that the oil nourishes and hydrates the skin while talking a shower. Lastly Rituals says that the Indian Rose enriches the product with an aromatic scent and that the sweet almond oil has a softening effect on the skin.
Overall they make it sound like the perfect shower product, especially for the colder months. When it starts to get colder outside my skin usually gets a little more dry and therefore hydrating body care is a must. Sadly most shower gels are full of drying ingredients or they just don’t do anything at all on that part. Because this is an oil I had pretty high hopes to it when it comes to hydrating my body and those claims make it sound even more amazing!
Having said that, let’s talk about the product in more detail. It might sound very stupid, but the first time I used it I wasn’t really sure how to use it. I’m used to shower gels which have a much thicker consistency. I usually use those with a shower puff, but I wasn’t sure whether that would work with an oil like this. I ended up using my hands to massage it into my skin and I actually really like using it that way. A shower puff can be pretty harsh and rough on your skin and even though there’s nothing wrong with that every now and then, I do actually prefer using this oil with my hands. I feel like I can benefit more from the nourishing aspects of this product that way. I have no idea whatsoever if that’s true or not, but as long as I believe in that I think it’s fine.
What I like about this shower oil is that you don’t need much of it. In general I always like to use my products sparingly, but with this product there’s no need at all to do any different. Just one, maybe two pumps, depending on the size of your body, is enough to cleanse your entire body.
Another thing I really like is how the product acts on the skin. They say that it turns into a foamy consistency, but that’s not exactly true. Well, it is in a way but not in the way you would expect if you read that claim. What I’m trying to say is that this doesn’t turn into the same type of foam as a shower gel turns into, it stays an oil. However, it does change texture a tiny little bit when it comes in contact with water which makes it easier to spread it across your body and massage it into your skin. I personally really like that it doesn’t get too foamy because the ingredient they usually use to get product to be foamy are very drying and that’s just not what I’m looking for in this product.
Another big plus is that the scent lingers. It’s definitely not one of those shower products that smell nice when you use them, but completely fade the moment you step out of the shower. Nope, this buddy stays on your skin. Of course if you’re using a body lotion or cream afterwards the scent of the shower oil will be less prominent, but if you don’t do that it will definitely linger for most of the day. If you combine this shower oil with the matching body cream I’m pretty sure you’ll be smelling like Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil all day long. How amazing is that?!
Moving on to the nourishing aspect of this shower oil, because I think that’s one of the most important things about this product. I mean this is a nurturing shower oil, it must be making my skin extremely soft and hydrated. Even though it’s quite hard to tell in general if you’re body-skin is more hydrated or not, I do feel like this product has an effect. Usually by this time of year my skin would be very dry, especially on areas such as my knees and elbows. But now, because I’ve been using this shower oil a lot, even those areas feel really nice and hydrated. I also feel like it makes a big difference in my armpit area. This might sound really weird but that’s another part of my body that gets dry pretty easily and ever since I’ve been using this shower oil it has been soft and smooth like it has never been before. I’m very impressed!
Overall this Rituals The Ritual Of Ayurveda Nurturing Shower Oil has impressed me. I’m actually very impressed by it. Of course I already had pretty high hopes for it and of course I knew it was going to be great, but I had no idea it was going to be this amazing. It’s the solution to my dry winter skin and that means a lot to me. Aside from that I just really like the feeling of this oil on my skin and the scent is just amazing. I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a more hydrating shower product! I actually ordered four more scents of this because I love it so much!
That’s pretty much it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of the Rituals Nurturing Shower Oils and also let me know which scent is your favourite!
