Recently I discovered how amazing the Rituals Nourishing Shower Oils are. I bought my first one, the Ritual of Ayurveda, shower oil about a month or so ago and I just fell in love with it, which is why I bought all of the other shower oils from Rituals the day after using that one for the first time. One of the shower oils I bought is the Express Your Soul oil from a limited edition collection. It’s supposed to smell like verbena and petitgrain which isn’t something I would usually gravitate towards, but for some reason this really spoke to me which is why I ended up buying it anyway. Today I’m going to review it and let you guys know everything there is to know about this product. If you’re interested in finding out more about this shower oil from Rituals, make sure you continue reading!
Just like the other shower oils from Rituals this one comes in a long, slim bottle with a pump on top. The bottle itself is white and has a greenish design on it, a bit of a watercolour design. I really like the look of it. It’s very minimalistic and simple but it does look quite luxurious and it also has something calming to it in my opinion. I also really like the fact that it does come with a pump since that makes it so much easier to use and more hygienic. The size of the bottle very impressive, it comes with 200 ml of product, but I do think it’s an okay amount since I do use less product when I use this oil compared to when I use a normal shower gel.
Like I mentioned this shower oil is part of a limited edition collection. This is the Express Your Soul collection which is made in collaboration with MadC. MadC is a female street artist. For this collection she was inspired by the sparkling energy of summery ingredients like verbena and petitgrain which resulted in a summery fresh smelling collection. The name of the collection ‘Express Your Soul’ is inspired by how MadC uses her own artistic passion to express her soul in her artwork and for this Rituals collaboration.

Moving on to the actual product. Like I mentioned a million times before the main scents of this shower oil are verbena and petitgrain. Verbena is a very fresh and citrusy smelling ingredient. It reminds me a bit of lemon, which is the perfect scent for summer. Petitgrain is an essential oil that is extracted from the leaves and green twigs of the bitter orange tree. So in conclusion both main ingredients are citrusy which makes this a very citrus-like smelling product. I have to admit that I’m personally not that big of a fan of citrus scents, I mean I don’t hate them, but I don’t gravitate for them either. It’s just not that up my alley. In this case I still wouldn’t say it’s a scent that could be a favourite of mine but I do really like it.
It’s just a very fresh and also refreshing scent. I think it’s perfect for people who shower in the morning because it is a very awakening scent. It’s also very summer proof so if you’re still not ready to let go of summer this product is perfect for you.
What I do really like about it when it comes to the scent is the fact that it is quite strong. I find that most shower products, whether they are gels, creams or whatever else you can think of, are very settle when it comes to scent. And sometimes that’s perfectly fine, but some days I do like my shower gel or oil to be somewhat stronger so I can still smell it when I get out of the shower. Well, this product is like that. If you don’t use bodylotion or butter on top you’ll smell it all day long. How impressive?!
The texture of this product is a little different than the texture of a regular shower gel. That’s because this is an oil. The consistency is very thin and runny and it definitely takes some getting used to when it comes to working with it. But when you are used to it I think it’s an amazing product. First of all because a little bit of this goes a very long way, only two pumps are enough to wash my entire body, but also because it’s so soft and gentle to the skin.
I have really noticed a ton of difference in the quality of my skin since I started using these shower oils. The skin on my body used to be pretty dry, especially throughout the colder months, but now that I’ve been using shower oils instead of shower gels I haven’t struggled with that at all. My skin feels super hydrated, soft and also very flexible. It doesn’t feel like I’m going to crack out of my skin anymore and that’s a great feeling. So if you do struggle with severely dry skin I do suggest using a shower oil like this. Because it is heavily perfumed I don’t know if it’s that great for people with very sensitive skin, but if you can use perfume on your body this is a great product to cure your dry skin, trust me, it has worked wonders for me!
Overall I’m just a big fan of this Rituals Express Your Soul Shower Oil. Even though the scent isn’t completely up my alley I have been using this shower oil a ton lately. It’s just so much more soft and sensitive for the skin, I love how hydrating it is and I’m also a big fan of how strong the scent is. This is just everything I look for in a shower product and if you look for those qualities too or if you struggle with very dry skin on your body, you might want to check this out. It’s absolutely amazing!
With that being said it’s time for me to end today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with the Rituals Shower Oils and if so, let me know how you like them!
