Back in high school I used to love the Rimmel London lipstick. I still remember the day I knew about the new Rimmel Kate Lipstick range. I went to the drugstore as fast as I possibly could and ended up getting a gorgeous shade which I wore all the time. These lipsticks were so luxurious for me at the time. Nowadays I never really use Rimmel lipsticks anymore. I actually prefer using my Chanel and YSL lipsticks. They seem much more amazing to me nowadays. But because I still want to give budget makeup a try every now and then I decided to buy some Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks and give them a try. Today I’m going to review them and let you guys know whether or not I think these are just as amazing as I thought they were back in the day. If you want to find out that and more, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with the first one of the two. This is the Rimmel Kate Nudes Lipstick. This is from a newer range within the Kate Moss collection from Rimmel London. It has been out there for quite some time now, but I hadn’t tried one of them before. It comes in a slightly different packaging than the regular Kate Moss lipsticks from Rimmel. Instead of having a black packaging, this one comes in a more pinky-nude coloured tube. I really like the colour of it, I think it’s cute and girly. It also looks really nice and soft which I think goes really well with the theme of this collection of lipsticks.
On the lid it says ‘Kate’ with a little heart next to it. I think this makes the packaging look even more adorable. It’s cute and personal and just overall a really nice touch.
In general I think that the packaging does look really pretty. In my opinion it doesn’t look cheap at all and that is always a big plus in my book. I really like the colours they used on the packaging, I think they look very pretty, and I like the shape of the tube as well. It’s a little different than usual, but it’s not too funky either. Well done, Rimmel!
Rimmel Kate Nudes Lipstick in 45 – €6,45
Moving on to the product itself. The shade I got is called number 45. This seemed like the most wearable colour to me. All colours in this range are very wearable since they all are nude coloured, however, some seemed a little to flesh-toned for me or too light. It really depends on your skin tone which shade will look best on you. Number 45 had the most pink in it and seemed to be the darkest out of the range, which is why it seemed to me like this was going to be the best option for my skin tone and my preferences.
According to Rimmel these Kate Nudes Lipsticks are supposed to have a soft and creamy texture. The lipstick is supposed to glide effortlessly onto the lips and deliver a long-wearing, neutral colour. It should instantly give you sumptuous lips with its non-drying formula and the range is supposed to include shades that suit every skin tone.
Overall the claims aren’t too extreme or wow-ing. They are just saying that the lipstick is supposed to be soft and creamy and that it’s supposed to be easy to apply and non-drying. To me those are the most important factors to judge a lipstick on so it’s nice that Rimmel thought the same thing and decided to create a lipstick that has all of those things. And of course the fact that they claim it will be like that, doesn’t mean that it’s true. But from my experience with this lipstick I can say that Rimmel isn’t telling us a big lie here.
The lipstick really has a nice formula. Even though it does feel soft and creamy on the lips, it’s not a very heavy lipstick. It’s actually more lightweight than I initially expected. Because of that it’s a very comfortable lipstick to wear. You can hardly feel it on your lips. Like they claimed it’s also a non-drying lipstick. It does actually feel quite hydrating to me. That’s a really great thing if you ask me, because who doesn’t want their lips to be coloured and hydrated at the same time?!
Moving on to pigmentation. As you can tell the lipstick does look very natural on my lips, but it is quite a pigmented colour. Because the colour is quite close to my natural lip colour that might be a little hard to tell, but it really is true. This lipstick is very opaque and that’s not something I initially expected.
Overall I think that the Rimmel Kate Nudes Lipstick is really, really nice. It does have everything to it that I want a lipstick to have and it wears very comfortably. I also think that the colour is really pretty, it’s nice and neutral and it looks really good on my skin tone. It also is a very opaque colour and it hydrates my lips throughout the day. I really, really like it!
Moving on to the second lipstick. This is the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 08 Timeless All. I don’t know why the Nude lipstick didn’t have a name, but this one does so that’s nice. Anyway, this is a lipstick from the original range of Kate Moss Lipstick. Therefore it also comes in the traditional Rimmel Kate Moss packaging.
Instead of pink this tube is full on black. It also has Kate’s name written on the lid in red letters followed by a heart and it has this slanted top like the Nude lipstick also has. So in terms of packaging both lipsticks are very, very similar, however, this one is black and the Nude lipstick is pink.
Another difference between the two packagings is that this black packaging does feel a little more well-made than the pink one. It doesn’t feel as plastic-y and it feels a little more hefty. I know that that doesn’t really matter at all, but it is something I felt was worth mentioning while we’re at it.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 08 Timeless All – €6,45
Like I said I got this lipstick in the shade 08 Timeless All. The lipstick I had back in the day is quite similar to this one, however, this shade is a little lighter and more wearable. Timeless All is a really pretty dusty pink colour with a bit of a purply tone to it. I think that even though this is a rather wearable lip colour, it is a more unique colour. I really like the balance of pink and purple in this lipstick. It doesn’t have enough purple in there to be considered a funky colour, but it has just enough purple to it to be a little more special than your regular pink lip colour.
According to Rimmel their Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick is a high intensity colour that is supposed to last for up to 8 hours. The formula is infused with Black Diamonds that are supposed to reflect the light like never before. They are designed by Kate Moss herself and are supposed to capture her flair and edge.
The claims on this lipstick do sound pretty promising to me to be honest. But after trying it I do think that they didn’t do themselves justice by these claims. This lipstick is so much more than just a highly pigmented, longlasting lipstick. It’s more amazing than that!
But since it’s in their claims, let’s first talk about the pigmentation. Since this lipstick isn’t as close to my natural lip colour as the nude coloured one is, I think it’s more clear how opaque this lipstick actually is. It really is packed with colour and once again that really impressed me. I love the look of it.
Another thing I love greatly about this lipstick is the creamy finish and formula. It doesn’t just feel absolutely amazing on the lips because of its creaminess, it also looks amazing because of that. I personally really love a creamy finish like this one so this really is totally up my alley. I think it looks amazing!
The staying power did impress me as well. I remember than back in the day I was very impressed by how longlasting this lipstick was and I still am impressed by that. Most creamy lipstick don’t hold up that well but somehow this lipstick just doesn’t budge at all. It stays in place all day long without fail and that’s a great, great plus about it. It’s definitely a lipstick you can wear on days you don’t want to be reapplying it too often.
Overall I think that this Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipstick is even more amazing than the Kate Nudes lipstick. I love the colour, but the quality is even more loveable. I’m really impressed by this product.
Overall these Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks haven’t disappointed me a bit. They actually really blew me away. Compared to other drugstore lipsticks these are just phenomenal and they really do live up to the hype I gave to them when I was younger. I do still prefer wearing my YSL and Chanel lipsticks, but if that’s just out of your price range or if you just don’t want to spend that much on a lipstick, these are almost just as good!
That is everything for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of these two Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks and which lipsticks are your current favourite!
