All throughout the year I usually really like to keep my lip colour pretty natural. I do like an occasional coral or every now and then a bit of a deeper pink shade, but I never wear very bold lips. The only time of the year where I do wear bright lips is the holiday season, more specifically during Christmas and new years’. Therefore I thought it might be fun to share some of my favourite red lip products with you guys so if you’re like me and you don’t wear red too often, you can get some inspiration from this post. So, if you’re in need of some red-lip inspiration or if you just think it’s fun to read about (my favourite) red lipsticks, make sure you continue reading this post!
Let’s start off with the product I’m probably going to wear this year myself. It’s the Dior Addict Fluid Stick in the shade 754 Pandore. This is quite a unique product because it isn’t a lipgloss, it isn’t a lip stain, it isn’t a liquid lipstick and it isn’t a lipstick. It’s a bit of a combination of all three. Thanks to that this product is very pigmented, it has a gorgeous glossy finish, it stays in place very well and it also stains your lips quite a bit so at the end of the day you’ll still be able to tell that you’ve been wearing red lips all day.
That last part is also the reason why I think it’s so perfect for Christmas. During the day I usually am busy with eating and playing boardgames with my family. I don’t really have the time and willpower to worry about my lips all day. Therefore I think a Christmas-lip-product should be very long lasting and fool proof. I do think this is a product that could smear around your mouth area for a bit so that does make it a tiny bit less amazing for wearing it on Christmas day, however, if you just apply a very thin layer, remove all of the excess product you’ll be left with a gorgeous red lip all day long.

Moving on to the next product. I have worn this lipstick on Christmas day I believe two years ago. I actually won it right before Christmas, which made it extra special. I’m talking about the MAC Retro Matte lipstick in the shade Ruby Woo. I think that every makeup addict or even everyone who knows a little bit about MAC knows the shade Ruby Woo. It’s a very famous and also a very popular shade. It’s a gorgeous shade of red, which in my opinion looks good on pretty much everyone, and it’s also a nice and fresh shade which I think it really pretty. Shade wise I’m a big fan of Ruby Woo, it’s stunning!
One thing I do kind of dislike about Ruby Woo is the texture or the formula. It’s a Retro Matte which means that it’s terribly dry. Because of that I found it very uncomfortable to wear. The plus side is that this lipstick does stay in place incredibly well. Almost all day long. I’m personally a little difficult when it comes to matte lip products, I’m just not a big fan of them, but if you do like to wear a matte lip Ruby Woo is an amazing shade for you to wear!

Moving on to the third pick. This is the Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade Chunky Cherry. This is, like the name already suggests, a more cherry red shade. Therefore it’s a bit more fresh than your usual red and a bit more bright and fun. I really like the look of that personally, I love it when a red is a bit more fruity and fresh than usual, but that’s totally up to what you prefer the most. I personally think it’s a really pretty colour and definitely one I would wear on Christmas day.
Aside from the fact that I think it’s really pretty, I also think that’s it a great product to wear because it’s just incredibly comfortable to wear. It applies extremely easily because of the crayon shape and it also has this really nice, glossy, balm-like texture which is just very comfortable. It feels like a lip balm and I love that. I hate it when lipsticks feel very heavy on the lips, that’s just not something I can stand all day long.

Moving on to another favourite of mine. This is a mini of the Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Audrey. I got this in a little mini set along with a blush, which is why I only have a small version of it. Since I don’t wear red lips a lot I don’t mind the fact that it’s small. But again, we’re losing track of what we are trying to talk about. The shade. Audrey is a very pretty deep red shade. It has a lot more brown in it than the other three lip products that I showed you before do, and I do like that. Even though I’m still in favour of fresh and happy red shades for Christmas, I can also appreciate a shade like this which is a bit more serious and sultry.
Aside from the gorgeous shade I also think that Audrey is a very comfortable lipstick to wear. It has a nice and creamy formula which makes it apply really nicely and it just feels good on the lips. It’s not a lipstick that makes you want to rip your lips off of your face so that’s definitely a positive thing. I also think that the staying power of this lipstick is pretty amazing so that’s also a reason why I’m including it in this post.

Lastly I have a more wearable option for you guys. An option for those of you who are willing to wear a red lip colour during the holiday season (or any other time of the year) but aren’t ready yet for a full on red. This is one of the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks in the shade Aphrodite Scarlet. It’s a gorgeous fruity red shade and I think it is a very flattering shade, but because the Rouge Caresse lipsticks are rather sheer it is still pretty wearable, even for those who don’t like to wear very bright lip colours.
I also am a big fan of these Rouge Caresse lipsticks because of the formula. They are very soft and buttery and glide onto the lips very easily and they are very weightless. The feeling on your lips is comparable to the feeling of a lip balm on your lips. That’s pretty dang comfortable if you ask me. It’s also a colour that is going to stay in place for a decent amount of time and when it does start to fade it fades nicely so you won’t end up with a red line around your lips. All together I just think this is a great lipstick to start off with!
