For the longest time I’ve been wanting to buy the Real Techniques Deluxe Gift Set. A set containing 5 Real Techniques brushes, 2 of which are exclusive and all with the shiny handles, and a small clutch in which you can put the brushes when you’re on the go. The set looks absolutely stunning to me, so I was very, very excited to give the brushes a try. In today’s post I’m going to tell you everything you want to hear and more about these brushes. Make sure you keep on reading!
The brush set comes with 5 Real Techniques brushes and a clutch. The brushes all have shiny handles and look extra pretty because of the fact this is a Collectors Edition set. The set was originally created for the holidays (I believe) and therefore it’s a little hard to find at this time of year, but if you google a bit you’ll definitely be able to find it.
The set contains of the following five brushes:
- Real Techniques Multi Task Brush
- Real Techniques Tapered Foundation Brush (exclusive)
- Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush
- Real Techniques Angled Highlighter Brush (exclusive)
- Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush
Let’s start discussing each and every one of them, shall we?
The first brush I’m going to discuss today is the Multi Task brush, the brush I was probably most excited about. As the name already suggests, this is a brush you could use for lots of different purposes. You could use it to apply your powder, blush, bronzer, you name it!
The Multi Task brush has a bit of a round shape but it’s not rounded like any other powder brush. I don’t really know how to explain it, so I  hope the picture underneath will help. The hairs of the brush are very soft and smooth and it feels really pleasant on the skin.
The hairs are quite dense, which means it picks up quite a lot of product and it will apply that product in a pretty heavy way. This is perfect most of the time, but if you want to use a super pigmented product it could make it a little more challenging. In that case I’d recommend either using a really light hand or just using another brush.
Overall I really like this brush. I personally like using it for blush because I already have a lot of nice brushes for powder and bronzer, but it’s really up to you what you want to use it for. In my opinion this is definitely one of the best brushes you could own.
Next up is the Tapered Foundation Brush. I was so excited about this brush. I don’t have that many positive experiences with foundation brushes, but this one seemed really nice to me. The thing I like about foundation brushes is that they work quickly, they’re capable of applying product everywhere, even in small areas, and they make your foundation look really flawless and pretty.
The hairs of this brush are, just like the hairs of the other brushes in this set, really soft and smooth. They are perfect for applying your foundation without creating these annoying streaks, which is one of the reasons why I love it.
The shape of the hairs is what makes this brush so unique compared to other foundation brushes. Regular foundation brushes are rounded at the top and have the same thickness everywhere, while this brush is smaller and flatter at the end. I don’t know why, but I really like that about it.
Overall I think this Tapered Foundation Brush is a great brush. I’ve been using it quite a lot and I really like the way it makes my foundation looks. It’s definitely a great addition to my collection!
Next up is my favourite brush in this set, the Base Shadow Brush. I’ve been wanting to try one of the Real Techniques eyeshadow brushes for the longest time now, and now I finally have one. This brush has an amazing shape, which made me think this was going to be one of the best brushes ever. And to be honest, I wasn’t wrong about that.
The Base Shadow Brush is created for applying eyeshadow as well as foundation (according to the website). For me this really is an eyeshadow brush, by I could see why they say this could be used for foundation/concealer.
The Base Shadow Brush is perfect for applying your lid colour, but it’s also great for applying a colour into the crease or even blending your crease colour. It has that duo-fibre hair thing going on which makes sure you apply the perfect amount of colour and the hairs themselves are incredibly soft.
Overall I’m really happy with this brush. I had super high expectations and it actually ended up being way better than I expected. If there’s one brush I recommend, it has to be this one!
Onto the exclusive Angled Highlighter Brush. Before I got this brush I used to use the RT Setting Brush to apply my highlighter which actually works perfect for me. Even though I like the look of this brush and even though I knew it would be a great brush, I wasn’t too excited about it. Not because I expected it to be bad, but because I already have a really nice highlighting brush.
The main difference between this Angled Highlighter Brush and the Setting Brush is the shape. Both of them are duo-fibre brushes, but the Setting Brush is more tapered and rounded and the Angled Highlighter Brush is angled.
Another difference between this brush and the Setting Brush is that this one is a little more dense. Because it’s more dense it will make the highlighter appear more intense, which to me is actually a big plus. The angled shape is also really nice because it makes sure your highlighter looks well applied instead of like a streak of shimmer.
Overall I’m quite impressed by this brush. I wasn’t expecting to like it more than the Setting Brush, but I kinda do. It’s a nice brush to have and it’s definitely worth the money.
The last brush in this set is the Fine Liner Brush. I never use eyeliner so this isn’t a brush I really needed. Still I do think it’s nice to own. If I do ever feel the need to apply eyeliner, it’s nice to know I can. This is a really unique shaped eyeliner brush. It’s just a small thin group of hairs. I do prefer this over an angled brush because I feel like it’s easier to work with, but that might just be personal preference.
Overall I think this is a great brush, but because it’s not one I use a lot I can’t say too much about it. It’s always nice to have one just in case.
All together I think it’s pretty clear that I’m glad I purchased this gorgeous brush set. I absolutely love all the brushes that come in this set and in addition to that they also look absolutely stunning. In my opinion, this is one of the most amazing sets Real Techniques ever created and if you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend doing so!
The Real Techniques Gift Set costs €27,95.
