As some of you might know a long time ago, when I still had my old layout, I used to be obsessed with this Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation. It was my second high-end foundation and it was just everything I needed a luxury foundation to be. It made me want to dive in to the luxury foundation world and I definitely ended up diving in there. Thanks to that I ended up forgetting about this for a bit. I started using so many other foundations that I lost sight of it. Recently I decided to repurchase it since my old bottle was nearly finished and since it has been such a long time since I last talked about it I decided it might be fun to do a re-review to tell you guys if I still like it as much as I did back then and why. So, if you’re interested in reading about that, make sure you continue reading!
There are many reasons why I used to love this foundation and one has always been and still is the packaging. I mean look at it. If this doesn’t look luxurious to you, what does. It’s a gorgeous bottle made out of frosted glass with black details. It feels quite heavy and even that is something I like about it. It’s just very simplistic and elegant and I’m all over that look. I do have to say that ever since I heard about a brand called ‘Beauty Pie’ which makes luxurious-looking products for less and has a foundation with a similar packaging I do look to this foundation bottle differently, but that doesn’t mean this bottle doesn’t look and feel really luxurious.
The bottle contains 30 ml of foundation which is a normal amount and my old bottle lasted me about half a year or a little more. Keep in mind that back then I did use it almost daily and nowadays I do switch up the foundation I use a lot more so this bottle will probably last me a little longer than that.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation – €46
One of the things I love most about this foundation is the fact that they have such a large variety of shades available. They have 20 different shades to be exact ranging from very, very pale to very deep. I can safely say that they have a shade in their collection for pretty much everyone. Or at least they did a good job at trying to achieve that goal. The shade I bought and used to have is called 0 Porcelain. This, surprisingly enough, isn’t the lightest shade they have. They also have 00 Alabaster which is even lighter than this one. I decided to go with this one because the lady at the Bobbi Brown counter matched me to this one and I think that she did a great job at doing that. It’s a very good match for me. With that being said I actually think it’s really worth the time to just go to a counter and get yourself matched because if I wouldn’t have done that I’d probably gotten Alabaster which would’ve been a lot too light for me. However, be critical if they match you because the first lady who matched me actually gave me a way too dark shade.
Anyway, let’s move on to the foundation. According to Bobbi this foundation is perfect for anyone with normal to oily skin. So pretty much everyone who hasn’t got dry skin. That because it is a rather mattifying foundation and that just doesn’t look too good on dry skin. In my opinion though I think it wouldn’t even be that bad on people with dry skin because it’s not a dry or drying formula.
According to Bobbi Brown this is a comfortable, long-wearing and hydrating foundation which is oil-free that has medium to high coverage and will never feel or look like a mask. It has shea butter and glycerin in it which keep the skin hydrated and the gel-based formula keeps everything nice and lightweight. It also says that it’s a product that doesn’t oxidise and that it will stay in place for up to 12 hours even when it’s humid.
All together it seems to be the perfect matte, long-wearing foundation. I love the fact that the formula is gel-based and I love that it has medium to high coverage but that it still feels natural on the skin. It might seem like an impossible combination but it’s actually 100% true. I’m wearing it as I’m writing this post and I literally can’t feel it on my skin. It feels like I’m wearing nothing even though all of my imperfections are perfectly covered.
When it comes to the application I think it’s an amazing foundation. It blends like a dream. The consistency does look quite thick compared to other foundations I use, but in fact it’s not that heavy at all. It’s such a light formula, it almost feels a little whipped. It also spreads really nice and evenly and it’s everything but streaky. It’s super smooth and it doesn’t matter how you apply it, using a brush or a Beautyblender, it will always end up looking nice.
Another thing I also love about the application is that you don’t have to worry about patches or areas that aren’t blended perfectly and end up looking orange. That seriously just doesn’t happen with this foundation. Even if you haven’t blended an area good enough it just doesn’t turn orange. And it seriously never oxidises on me. That makes this pretty much the most fool-proof foundation ever.

Coverage wise it’s definitely medium to full. I have to say that taking these pictures kind of failed and it doesn’t really show how well it covers at all, so you have to trust me on this one. It actually covers beautifully. With only one layer you get medium to high coverage and if you build it up like I sometimes do around the cheek area you get full coverage. And that without it looking unnatural or cakey whatsoever. The finish is really nice as well. It’s a natural matte look. Nothing too matte, but it’s not a dewy foundation at all. I actually don’t really need to powder it off for a more matte look, but I do like using a bit of powder to make it stay even longer.
Talking about wearing time this foundation is indeed super longlasting. I love wearing this on days I know my foundation has to stay in place because it does that really, really well. It really lasts all day and just like they said it even survives humid circumstances. It might get slightly more shiny when it’s humid, but it won’t leave your face. And even better: when it’s getting a little shiny it won’t transfer onto other things which is a really big plus for me too.
Overall I’m still as big of a fan of this foundation as I used to be. I’m so glad I decided to buy it again because it made me remember why I fell in love with it, and with luxury foundation in general, in the first place. It just has everything a foundation needs to have. The shade match is just spot on, the texture is incredible, it has great coverage, it looks and feels very natural and it survives everything. It just doesn’t budge. I’m in love!
With that being said this review has come to an end. Thank you so much for reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which (luxury) foundation is your absolute favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
