A few weeks ago I came across this pink mat on Ebay. It’s a mat made for cleaning your makeup brushes and it’s supposedly inspired by the Sigma brush cleansing glove/mat. Since I really hate washing my brushes I decided to buy it and give it a try, just to see if it makes a difference and if it would make washing my brushes less horrible. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not it works and if you should get it, make sure you continue reading!
There are lots of different versions of this mat on Ebay and it comes in tons of different colours. The one I bought has quite a few different areas on it and it’s bright pink, just like the Sigma version. In my opinion it looks like quite an interesting gadget and I like the way it looks too.
On the bottom of the mat are a few suction cups, or suckers, that make sure the mat stays in place if you put it in your sink and go crazy with your brushes.
There are a total of 7 different parts with different textures on this matte. All of these parts are made for a different purpose. On the side of every part is stated what that part is made for. The purposed of the parts are:
- Refine plus eyes – Top left corner
- Rinse eyes – Top middle left
- Rinse face – Top middle right
- Refine plus face – Top right corner
- Wash eyes – Bottom left corner
- Refine – Bottom middle
- Wash fase – Bottom right corner
At first I expected the part with the crosses (wash eyes) to be the most effective part of the mat and I didn’t really expect much from the part with the hearts, but it ended up being completely different than I initially expected. The part with the hearts has pretty big ridges so it’s actually really effective for washing your brushes, both face and eye brushes.
I personally don’t use the top part a lot, I mainly use the bottom two corners, but for smaller brushes like eyeshadow brushes the top part is definitely great too.
But does this mat really make a difference? Does it fasten the cleaning proces and does it make it more easy? My answer to that is: YES! First of all this mat makes my brushes so much cleaner than ever before. I used to use one of those egg shaped thingies with just regular ridges, but this works way, way better. I had some brushes with stains I just couldn’t get rid of, and thanks to this little mat those brushes are as clean as ever.
It also works way quicker than any other cleaning method. I used to was my foundation brushes three times in order to get them completely clean, but with this mat it only takes me one try. After that one try it’s actually cleaner than it was after three tries when I still used the egg. It saves up so much time and that’s just great!
Overall I’m very impressed by this brush cleansing mat. I didn’t expect too much of it because I did buy it on Ebay but lord o lord, it changed my whole brush cleaning game. It’s way less of a burden to clean my brushes now and it’s so much quicker. I highly recommend giving it a try if you hate washing your brushes just as much as I do!
I bought the Brush Cleansing Mat here for €2,95.
That was it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and let me know what extra tools you use for washing your brushes!
XOXO, Nicole.
