Recently I decided I wanted to buy a proper night cream. Back in the day I used to use one by Vichy, but I didn’t feel like repurchasing that. I wanted something completely different. After looking around for a bit I ended up going for the Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Night Moisturiser. The (Renewed) Hope In A Jar products from Philosophy are very popular and super hyped up, so I thought why not give it a try? Well, I did. And today I’m reviewing it. So if you’re interested in finding out about my experience with this cream, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Renewed Hope In A Jar Night Cream comes in a jar. Obviously. I know that lots of people would prefer having their creams in like a tube or something because that seems to be more hygienic, but I like the fact that it comes in a jar because of the fun name. And in addition to that I think it’s a very classy look. The day cream version of this cream comes in a white jar and this night one comes in a smokey black jar. That way you can easily tell them apart from each other. How convenient is that?
The jar comes with 60 ml of product which is a very decent amount for a moisturiser. Actually more than decent. I do like that. Because the cream is rather thick I did actually expect that I’d be running out of the moisturiser fairly quickly and that that’s why you’d be getting so much product. But after trying it for a couple of weeks now, I figured that actually you don’t need that much product per application. A little more than I might use from a more liquidy formula, but for a moisturiser like this one I’m not disappointed. Anyway, the 60 ml is quite a lot and will last you decently long. I don’t think it will last you a lot longer than a thinner cream with like 40-50 ml, but a bit longer for sure.
Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Night Cream – €44,45
Okay, moving on to what this Renewed Hope In A Jar is all about and what it actually claims. I think that literally everyone loves it, but when I bought it I had no idea what this is supposed to do. Well, according to Philosophy their nighttime version of the Renewed Hope In A Jar Moisturiser will transform your skin whilst you sleep. It’s supposed to be an intensive treatment that renews and reinvigorates the complexion. This supposedly rich moisturiser should help to support the natural cell renewal cycle and strengthen the skin from the inside out to fight against dehydration and dullness. It’s supposed to smooth the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores and restore radiance. This night cream should provide 24 hour hydration so you can wake up to a brighter, clearer and healthier-looking complexion.
That all sounds very promising. It sounds like this is literally everything every women is looking for in a moisturiser. All in one. I have to say at first I thought it sounded a bit too good to be true. I mean, a product like this can’t be perfect. It can’t do everything you want and it can’t cater to every skin type right? Well… surprisingly it can. It really can.
Before I go in and explain why I am so impressed by this moisturiser, I first want to give you a little background on my skin. I have pretty oily skin. Sometimes it does lean more to the combination side of the spectrum, but it can definitely be pretty oily all over. Therefore I normally do stay away from very rich and thick moisturisers. They do tend to give me pimples.
Even though my skin normally can’t really handle very rich moisturisers, I gave the Renewed Hope In A Jar a try. It is marketed as a rich moisturiser and it definitely it. It has a really beautiful texture. It does feel rich and creamy, but it also has this airiness to it, a bit of lightness. Thanks to that I think it’s not too overwhelming for my skin type, but it’s also not too light for a more dry skin type. The formula is really comfortable to work with. It spreads across the skin really easily and for what it is, I do think it sinks into the skin rather quickly. I have seen moisturisers with rich textures like this one which take a lot longer.
Something I really like about this moisturiser is the fact that it immediately makes my skin feel really smooth. I do feel like this moisturiser has a genuine effect on texture and anything that can make your skin look uneven. It shows right after you’ve applied it and it shows right when you wake up. Whenever I have used this moisturiser at night, the next morning my skin will be so super smooth. It’s not just visibly smooth, you can also feel it. Of course if you have very blemished skin this won’t work magic for you, but I definitely think it can help a little for everyone.
I also feel like this moisturiser does an amazing job at moisturising my skin. Even though my skin is oily, it still needs moisture. I like to apply most of the moisture at night, so my skin won’t look super greasy in the morning. And this does an amazing job at that. My skin feels so much more hydrated. I think it’s hard to describe what that feels like, but it just looks so much more healthy and like, less dull. I know this all sounds way too good to be true, but it really is just positive. I literally haven’t noticed anything about this moisturiser that I don’t like and at this point I’ve been using it for like 2 months straight. It doesn’t break me out at all!
All in all this Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Night Cream really surprised me. I did like the Purity Made Simple range from Philosophy already, but this is even better. I’m just so intrigued by how well this makes my skin feel and look and how easily it does that. It makes my skin look so much smoother and more healthy and alive. It’s amazing. I really think this is a bit of a miracle cream and I do recommend giving it a try if you want to get smooth and hydrated skin!
With that being said I think I’ve covered everything I wanted to. Thank you guys so much for reading today’s post, and be sure to let me know which moisturiser you like to use at night!
Ik vind dit merk zo fijn! Dit product heb ik zelf nog niet geprobeerd, maar zo te zien bevalt hij erg goed. Ik vind een potje ook erg classy trouwens, die tubetjes vallen altijd om bij mij, haha.
My favorite skincare trick is unfortunately not a secret, but something I had to try out to believe, even if I’ve read it a thousand times – using OILS! Even with oily skin! Makes my skin so much more dewy and beautiful, and not greasy as I expected
