For quite some time now I have been struggling a lot with my skin. It has been broken out for ages and nothing seems to fix it. It only got worse and worse over time. Recently I was over it. I was done with it and I wanted it to be fixed. I ended up going online and looked for a couple of new skincare products that were going to fix all of my skin problems. One of the products I ended up buying is this Origins United State Balancing Toner. I have been using it for about a month now, which means it’s time for me to review it and let you guys know whether or not it cured all of my skin problems! If you’re interested in finding out, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off by talking about the first thing I noticed when this bottle came in the mail. It’s incredibly small. Usually toners come with about 250 ml of product, something like that. This tonic however comes with just 150 ml. That’s a lot less and actually quite a disappointment. Origins isn’t a cheap brand, so I really didn’t expect this at all.
Anyway, in terms of packaging I do really like this product. I do like the compact look of the bottle and the shape and design of it. I like the rounded lid (even though I always struggle putting it back on the bottle) and I like how clean they kept everything. The sticker on the front with the key information about the product looks very professional and clean. It does remind me of a pharmacy or something like that. I really like that look when it comes to skincare products.
The bottle itself is made out of greenish plastic. It’s a very pretty green colour. It’s a sturdy bottle and even though it is made out of plastic I do think that it feels nice and luxurious. Overall I’m definitely a fan of the look of the packaging, but I am very disappointed by the size of it!
Origins United State Balancing Toner 150 ml – €19,45
Origins has a very wide range of skincare products and they have tonics in most of their ranges. This means that there is quite a lot to choose from. Because I was struggling with breakouts I was looking for something to cure that. They do have a specific range for oily and blemished skin, the Zero Oil range, but somehow this United State range seemed more interesting to me.
When it comes to curing or treating oily and blemished skin I think the way to go is to balance it. Products aimed at these skin types are usually very harsh and drying and I believe that taking away all of the oil will make the oil production go even more crazy, because your skin will end up thinking you don’t have enough oil on your face. Therefore I wanted something balancing. I don’t know the science behind that, but it sounded more appropriate for me and my skin concerns.
According to Origins, their United State Balancing Tonic is supposed to have a re-texturising formula that works to balance the skin whilst clearing it of impurities. Fortified with advanced exfoliators, the multi-tasking tonic is supposed to effectively buff away dry, dead skin, lift pore clogging debris and smoothen rough patches to reveal a soft, healthy looking complexion. Dedicated to removing oil from the T-zone, added soy protein helps to protect the skins’ essential, natural moisture level, so your complexion will never be stripped bare or dehydrated.
After use, your skins’ texture is supposed to feel rebalanced. Dry and oily patches come together as one to create a perfectly hydrated, unified complexion. The skin is supposed to feel fresh and refined.
In general I can say that I’m pretty happy with this tonic. I didn’t have extremely high hopes for this because in the past, most of the tonics I have used were very harsh and drying. However, this one really isn’t. It really does create the perfect balance between hydration and not too greasy. And it does it in an amazing way.
Okay, I can’t say that this isn’t harsh at all on the skin. It is a product with a proper amount of alcohol in it so if you are sensitive to that or if you just like to avoid that, this product might not work out for you that well. But it doesn’t bother me personally to be honest. The thing that makes it okay for me is the fact that it doesn’t make me feel dried out or anything like that. It doesn’t make my skin feel stripped. It does make my skin feel very soft and clean and free of excess oil. And that’s exactly what I wanted it to do.
It also does a great job at creating more even and untextured skin. I have been struggling with both of those things like I said and I do feel like this tonic helped me improve my skin on those two factors. Ever since I started using it my skin has become more smooth and even. It doesn’t feel textured anymore and I don’t feel any rough patches anywhere anymore. And that change already happened after using it for less than a week. So on that end I’m very, very impressed!
Overall I do think that this product lives up to its claims. It’s a very well-made product that works incredibly well for me and I didn’t expect to ever really like a tonic again.
In conclusion I think it’s clear that this Origins United State Balancing Tonic is a big winner for me. I was a bit hesitant about it at first, but to my surprise it’s actually the best tonic I have ever used. It does exactly what it claims to do and in a very short period of time it has already had major effects on my skin. In a very positive way. I definitely don’t think that this tonic is going to work out for everybody. If you do have sensitive or dry skin this won’t be a product for you. But if you do have combination skin like me or oily skin and you’re looking for something that won’t make your skin feel stripped and dry, you really should give this a try!
And that was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this tonic and which tonic you like to use!
