Like I mentioned last week in a post about the Origins United State Balancing Toner, I have been having skin struggles for quite some time. My skin was breaking out a lot, it was very irritated and it just needed a lot of love. I have taken quite a lot of steps in improving my skincare routine, but one thing I still really wanted to add to my routine is a product that would work quick when it comes to treating blemishes. I ended up buying the Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and today I’m going to review it. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not this will work when it comes to removing your blemishes, make sure you continue reading!
First things first: the packaging. When you buy spot removers you can expect small amounts of product. That’s nothing new. However, when I unboxed this product I was shook by how tiny the bottle actually is. It’s seriously the tiniest bottle I have ever seen. It’s about the size of my eye. I do have relatively big eyes, but still. That ain’t big. It does come with 10 ml of product which isn’t bad for a spot remover. Especially because you only need a tiny little bit of it every time you use it, but still. They could’ve had the decency to create a packaging that would make you think it’s bigger than this.
Okay guys, I’m just kidding. The compact size of the packaging does have a lot of pro’s to it. Because of that the product doesn’t take in much space in your collection or beauty bag, it makes it very easy to take with you on the go and it’s better for the environment since they don’t use an excessive amount of plastic for no reason.
Aside from the size of the packaging, I do also like the design of the packaging. It’s very clean and professional looking. In my opinion it definitely looks like something you’d buy at a pharmacy. I also think that that the shape of it is really nice and all together it just works really well for me.
Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel 10 ml – €17,95
Before I get into my opinions, let’s talk about the claims Origins has made regarding this product. According to Origins their Super Spot Remover banishes breakouts. It’s a purifying formula that is supposed to be ideal for oily and acne-prone skin. It’s created using powerhouse ingredient Saw Palmetto, which is supposed to utilise antiseptic properties to control sebum production and help to prevent spots from forming. The treatment also makes use of Salicylic Acid to promote skin healing.
The lightweight gel formula should work to correct the skin discolouration left behind after a blemish disappears, whilst Red Algae soothes any irritation or inflammation. Sweeping away toxins, impurities and excess oil from deep within pores, the blemish-fighter helps to create a clean, clarified and healthy-looking complexion.
Overall it sounds like Origins did think really well about the formula of the product and after reading these claims I do actually believe that this product is going to work. What I like about it, is that it’s not only aimed at fighting spots, but also at removing discolouration and such, since that’s another problem I do really struggle with every time I do breakout.
Let’s start off by talking about the texture and application. Like Origins described it themselves, this product has a bit of a gel formula. And that is true. It’s just a gel. Because of that it’s very easy to use. What I usually do is squeeze the bottle so a bit of product will lay on top of the opening. Then I go in with a q-tip and dot it on the areas I want it to be on. It’s a pretty easy way to apply it and this way you don’t use an excessive amount of product, which isn’t needed in general. A little bit of this goes a very long way.
What is important to know is that you shouldn’t apply it on different blemishes with the same side of the q-tip when the blemishes are open. This will only cause you to spread the bacteria and you’ll end up with even more infected areas.
Anyway, when it comes to the results I’m pretty positive. Okay, I can’t say it a magic product, but it definitely has a visible effect. I like to apply it at night, before I go to bed and as the last step in my night-time skincare routine. When I wake up the thick pimples are flat and the flat ones are less red and less visible. If you really want to get rid of them completely it does take more than one application, but the difference is major.
What I like is that when I wake up the blemishes will be in a state they are easy to cover up. When they’re still very big and red the product won’t really stay on top of it, but when I use this product and the blemish because smaller and less red and hot, the concealer will stay in place and the blemish won’t be as notabel anymore.
I also like the way that it works, in a way that it doesn’t feel drying. Some of these spot treatments can make your blemish look like a dry patch and this one doesn’t do that. It doesn’t leave any marks at all. So even if you have a dryer skin type, I think you can still effectively use this product without having to worry about your dry skin itself.
Overall I am pretty impressed by the Origins Super Spot Remover. So far it is the best spot treatment I have had. It’s an incredibly small bottle and I do think it’s rather expensive, but a little bit of it goes a very long way and it’s just a very effective product. I really like the way it works, how it isn’t drying and how it makes my blemishes easy to cover-up. For me this is definitely a winner and I do recommend trying it out if you are struggling with stubborn break-outs!
That will be it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know if you would use a super spot remover like this one or if you have any experience with them in general?
This is a great review, I’m on the look out for a blemish treatment as I too am going through a breakout phase, and this sounds like a great option. Thanks for sharing!
