It has been quite some time since I last talked about the Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Gel Moisturiser. A couple of years ago I first discovered it, but once I started to run out of it I started to forget about it a little. Until I decided to start using it again. I bought a new, XL, tub of it and now I’m back in love with it again. I know I have reviewed this a long time ago, but opinions change, skin types change and formula’s change as well, so it seemed like a good idea to just re-review this moisturiser to let you guys know what’s good about it and also talk about if I like it just as much now as I did back when I discovered it for the first time. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about this moisturiser, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off this review by talking about the packaging of the product. The Origins Ginzing collection has an orange colour theme which, I believe, is supposed to represent the energising effect of the range. Even though orange usually isn’t a colour I’m too excited about, I have to say that I really like it on this packaging. I like it in combination with the white label and the rest of the design in general. I think that the packaging looks very classic, very professional and also rather luxurious. It’s just a very prettily packaged product. By the way, the box that the product comes in has a gorgeous design too! Look at how adorable it looks!
Usually the Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturiser comes in tubs of 50 ml. Back in the day when I first found out about it they also had 30 ml tubs, but now I found a 75 ml tub. An XL-tub if you will. I do think that this size is limited edition, but it is a great value of money so I would suggest going for this XL size if you’re sure you’re going to want to use a lot of this moisturiser. I already knew I was a fan of it which is why I was confident enough to buy the big version. However, if it’s your first time using it and you’re not that sure about it, you might want to ask for a sample before buying a big tub like this one!
Having discussed the packaging and the size of the tub, let’s start talking about the moisturiser itself. According to Origins this Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturiser is a lightweight, oil-free skin energy drink which is fortified with legendary skin-boosters like Panax Ginseng and Coffee Bean which are supposed to jumpstart hydration levels. This moisturiser is supposed to rapidly refresh and revitalise lackluster-looking skin to create a healthy, vibrant glow.
In other words: this is the perfect hydrating and energising moisturiser for anyone who has dull skin and is in need of something lightweight that is going to revitalise their complexion. I personally have rather oily skin that tends to look a little dull because I do lack a lot of sleep, so for me this is the perfect product. The gel and oil-free formula is going to help my oily skin to stay under control and the ingredients of this moisturiser are going to help fight the dullness in my complexion.
If you do have pretty dry skin but you also need something to help with dullness Origins has got your back as well. They recently came out with a rich version of this moisturiser so it’s hydrating enough for dryer skin types but still has those energising effect most of us probably need.
But is this moisturiser really as amazing as it claims to be? Origins does make it sound like a wonder product and that does seem a little too good to be true in my opinion.
However, I can’t say that they are lying. This really is the perfect revitalising and refreshing moisturiser for anyone with combination to oily, dull skin. Part of why it is so amazing is because of the texture. Like I mentioned before this is a gel-based moisturiser which means it’s going to be very lightweight, thin and it’s going to sink into the skin very, very quickly. It’s not going to leave behind a greasy layer and it’s definitely not going to make you feel or look oily at all. Therefore gel-based formulas are just perfect for oily skin.
Another thing I like about this gel-based formula is that it feels very refreshing. I don’t really know how to explain it, but compared to a normal creamy moisturiser these gel-based moisturisers just feel a lot more refreshing on the skin. Since this is an energising moisturiser I think having that refreshing effect of a gel-based formula is a big plus. It does feel very nice on the skin and it does make you feel more awake.
Another big plus is the scent of this product. I do have to say that this is a scented moisturiser so if you’re very sensitive to scents or if you just like to not use perfume on your skin you’re probably going to want to skip this product, but if you’re okay with perfume you’re going to love the scent of this product. I think that the scent is very well chosen for this product. It’s a very fresh and fruity scent that really helps to wake me up in the morning. The scent reminds me of mandarines and such fruits, which is a great scent in the morning. The strength of the scent is just perfect because it isn’t too overwhelming, but it is strong enough to have that awakening effect. Overall I think Origins did a great job on that front.
But what is even more important that the scent of the product and the texture, is whether it works or not. Does this product add a nice and energised glow to my skin? I can be short about that: it does. And it does it in a very pretty way. I know that some girls with oily skin like myself can be quite skeptical when we hear the word ‘glow’ in a product. We glow naturally, we don’t need more. However, this product doesn’t accentuate your oily glow, it doesn’t make you look more oily than you already are, it just adds that natural glow to the skin that your skin has lost because of its dulness. And because you are moisturising your skin with a product that is perfect for oily skin it also prevents excess oil production.
I also think that it hydrates the skin perfectly. Every skin needs moisture, but oily skin doesn’t need as much of it as dry skin and Origins understands that really well. This moisturiser adds the perfect amount of moisture to the skin but doesn’t overdo it. It’s just the perfect product for my skin!
Overall I’m still as big of a fan of the Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Moisturiser as I’ve always been. It’s just the perfect moisturiser for my skin. It adds a really pretty healthy glow to my skin and it adds the right amount of moisture without overdoing either one of those things. Aside from that I’m a huge fan of the lightweight, gel-formula and of the scent of the moisturiser. If you have combination to oily skin (or normal skin) and if you struggle with dull skin, you might want to check this product out!
And that’s everything for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this moisturiser and also let me know which moisturiser you’re currently using!
