I believe I’m already reviewing the last The Ordinary product today! For those of you who don’t know, The Ordinary is a very popular upcoming skincare brand that creates low-budget skincare products with very effective ingredients and nothing more than that. Today I’m going to talk about the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. If you’re interested in finding out what this does for my skin, make sure you keep on reading!
We have gone over the packagings of these The Ordinary products a million times by now, but for those of you who haven’t read the other reviews (on the hyaluronic acid, lactic acid and caffeine solution) I’m going to go over it one more time. The Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% solution comes in a frosted glass bottle with a little dropper on top. It’s a very simple and elegant design, but it’s very pretty and I’m a fan of it.
The bottle contains 30 ml of product which is very average. Because you only need a little bit of this product per application and because working with the dropper is very controlled, this bottle will last you for quite some time. I’ve been using it for about a month now (I guess) and it’s barely visible that I’ve used any product.
Onto the product itself. Let’s start off with discussing how to use it, move on to the ingredients and then we’ll discuss what the results are like. So, how to use it. This is a very easy product to you. You have to load up your dropper and drop a bit of the product onto your entire face. Massage it in and you’re good to go. You can apply it in the morning and at night and you have to apply it before using (heavier) creams. I personally just use it in the morning, but whether you want to do morning and night or just one is totally up to you.
Moving on to the ingredients. Let’s start off by discussing what niacinamide is and what it does for the skin. According to Paula from Paula’s Choice niacinamide is a very effective skin-restoring ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin. Aside from that it also has the ability to visible improve the appearance of large pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness and a weakened skin surface. All together niacinamide is a great ingredient for those who are looking for something that will even out their skin and fight signs of aging.
Onto the other ingredient in this product: zinc. Just like niacinamide zinc helps with healing damaged skin around acne. It also prevents the inflammation and scarring associated with acne and it will reduce the amount of sebum produced in the skin. Aside from those benefits it also protects the skin from UV rays. Overall zinc is a great skincare ingredient and especially in combination with niacinamide.
Having discussed that, let’s move on to the results. Like I mentioned in the other three reviews, it’s hard to pinpoint whether the result you’re seeing is caused by this product of one of the other products I use or maybe even by natural changes like hormones and weather. I have tried my best to really focus on what this particular product does for my skin and that’s what I’m going to discuss now.
Before I jump into my conclusions let’s first state that niacinamide does not fight acne. It doesn’t get rid of pimples. What it does is evening out the texture and the tone of your skin, so it will reduce the amount of scarring from acne. I recently had some pimples all over my skin and I usually suffer a lot from scarring. Some scars stay for months until they finally fade and disappear. I have noticed that thanks to this product the scars that were left behind faded way, way quicker. They were gone in a matter or days, a week tops.
Aside from that I felt like my skin overall felt a lot more even. My pores have been less visible and my skin has been less oily. The fact that I’m less oily is not completely due to this product but thanks to a combination of products I have been using, but this product does play a part in that.
Overall I think this is a great product. It really evens out the skin and it definitely helps with acne scarring. Because of that I think this product will be great for those of you who really struggle with acne and heavy acne scarring. I also think this product is great for people who have uneven skin, whether that’s due to texture or colour, because this product really helps with that!
The The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is available at Deciem for €5,90.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what special products like this you like using on your skin to make it look even better!
