It’s time for another The Ordinary review! Today I’m going to talk about the The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. This is a product meant to reduce the appearance of eye contour pigmentation and puffiness which is something I struggle with on a daily basis. If you’re interested in finding out how I like this product and whether or not it actually does what it says, make sure you continue reading!
First things first, the packaging. This The Ordinary Caffeine Solution comes in a very classic packaging. It reminds me of some sort of medicine from the pharmacy and I really love that about it. The bottle is made out of brown glass and it has a white sticker and a white lid.
For an eye product this is quite a large bottle. It comes with 30 ml. You  only need about one drop per eye to cover the entire area on and underneath the eye. Because you only need such a little bit this bottle will actually last forever which is great!
On the back of t he box and on the back of the bottle The Ordinary tells us a little bit more about the product. They let us know what is in this product and that it’s fragrance free, like (I believe) all The Ordinary skincare products. I think it’s a very big plus that these products are fragrance free because perfume is bad for your skin. The only downside to it is that the products might not smell too good. This one smells okay, but for example the Lactic Acid I got, that one smells horrible!
The product itself is quite watery and has a slight yellow tint to it. Because of that watery texture it feels nice and cooling on the skin. Like I said I just put a drop underneath my eye and gentle massage it in around the entire eye area. It sinks in in about a minute or so and after that you’re good to go and ready for makeup.
But the most important question to ask yourself is: does it actually make a difference? It might not be very expensive, but if it doesn’t work, it’s way too expensive. Luckily I do feel like this product makes a difference. You don’t go from an almost black eye back to normal, obviously, but it really does depuff the area and create a more awake look.
After using this I actually feel a bit more awake too. I think it’s because of the fresh feeling of it and because of the fact you use it on the eye area. It’s a really, really nice feeling!
Overall I’m a big fan of this product. You get an enormous bottle and you only need a little bit a day and it works great. It really depuffs the eye area and makes me look and feel more awake. I really love using this in the morning and I’ll definitely continue to do so. If you’re struggling with puffiness or dark circles, you might want to try this stuff!
The The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG is available at Deciem for €6,70.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you use under your eyes in the morning!
XOXO, Nicole.
Hey thanks for such a great article! You mention that the product helps you with the puffiness in your eyes. I suffer from very puffy eyes, and I was wondering if you had it too. Is it something you struggle with?
I do struggle with that very often and it’s one of the reasons why this product is so great. It really depuffs the eye area.
I think this made my crows feet significantly worse. After about a week of use the lines were much deeper and started my closer to my nose. It was also the week I turned 37, so it might have been me getting older. Interested to hear if anyone feels the same?
Ahhhh dat gevoel lijkt me zo heerlijk zo in de ochtend!
