It has already been a while since I actually purchased this product, it might even be about half a year ago, but I haven’t gotten the chance to review it yet. I’m talking about the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Berry Strudel. I bought this as an order filler because it was cheaper to get this than to pay for shipping, but it’s not something I would’ve bought if it wasn’t for that. It’s an incredibly bright lipgloss and it’s purple, in other words: it’s completely out of my comfort zone. Anyway, I was very excited to try it out and that’s exactly what I did. Today I’m going to review this little guy and let you guys know everything there is to know about it. If you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!
Just like all other NYX Butter Glosses and Intense Butter Glosses, this lipgloss comes in a rather short tube. The bottom part is purple, I don’t know if this is because of the fluid that is inside or if the plastic is actually purple, but I do like the fact that you can see the colour through the tube. The lid is just plain black and very simple. Design-wise the packaging isn’t that special. It has a ton of text on it but nothing very special or unique. Even though it’s so simple I do like it. It’s just a classical NYX packaging and I love the way that looks. By the way, it contains 8 ml of product for those of you who wanted to know that!
The NYX Intense Butter Glosses (and the regular Butter Glosses) have been popular for quite some time now. I have once tried a normal Butter Gloss but I haven’t tried the Intense version yet. My experience with the regular Butter Gloss was very positive, so I had pretty high hopes for this one. Even though it will probably have a slightly different formula I did expect it to have the same comfortable texture.
NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Berry Strudel – €7,31
So, before we start talking about the claims and the quality let’s first talk about the colour. As you can probably tell Berry Strudel is a very bright colour. It’s a bright purple shade that is very vibrant and out there. It’s the complete opposite of something I would usually use. Instead of having a bit of a reddish tone to it, it’s actually very purple with more of a blue undertone which makes it even more daring but also a lot more interesting to me. Overall I do think it’s a very daring colour but I do think it’s very cool and it’s definitely an eye-catcher. I like it a lot!
And now it’s time for the claims. According to NYX this lipgloss is soft as butter ad smooth as silk. It’s supposed to taste like a sugar cookie and make the lips look instantly gorgeous. The lipgloss is supposed to melt onto the lips and they also claim it’s not going to be sticky at all. The formula is the same as the formula of the original Butter Gloss but with even more pigment in it!
Overall it sounds like this is going to be a very comfortable and very pigmented product. I really like the Butter Gloss formula because it’s so rich and buttery, it’s so comfortable to wear!
When it comes to the pigmentation NYX wasn’t lying, my lord what a bright colour. It’s definitely a full-coverage product and if you’re into that this will totally be a favourite of yours. It’s by far the most pigmented lipgloss I have ever seen in my entire life and that’s pretty impressive since I have seen a lot of lipglosses throughout the years.
Another thing I love about this product is how easy it is to apply. It goes on so smoothly and evenly. Only one layer is needed to achieve the look shown on the picture and that’s not disappointing at all. The consistency is a little more rich than the consistency of a regular lipgloss but that’s a good thing. It feels very rich and buttery on the lips which makes it an incredibly comfortable product to wear. Like NYX already told us this lipgloss isn’t sticky which is actually true and therefore even more comfortable to wear than it already is.
The only down side to this product is the staying power. If you don’t do anything with your lips this product stays in place pretty well, but if you do anything at all it will slip and slide everywhere and it does fade off pretty easily. Because it’s quite a bright shade that might be something to keep in mind because it can end up looking a little funky!
Overall I really like this NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Berry Strudel. It’s a very bright and daring colour but that does make it a very interesting one. It’s also very comfortable to wear because of its rich and creamy texture and because it’s just not sticky at all. The only down side to this product is that it isn’t very longlasting, but aside from that I think it’s absolutely incredible! If you love bright and pigmented lip products, this will totally work for you!
And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of bright lipglosses like this one!
