I honestly love splurging on makeup. I actually developed a small addiction to buying gorgeous high end product. However, sometimes I do realise that in fact that product wasn’t really worth all that money. Today I’m going to talk about those products. Those high-end products that are not worth the high-end price. If you’re interested in finding out which products I’m talking about, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with this MAC 217 brush. I know this brush is really big in beauty world but I’m just not in love with it. I expected quite a lot from it since it’s so popular and everyone seems to love it, and it’s definitely a great brush, but it’s not worth the pretty extreme price tag.
I personally prefer using the Zoeva Soft Definer brush over this one and that was it like 3x cheaper. I’m definitely not saying that this brush is terrible, it’s super soft, it’s fluffy and it’s great at doing many things, but it is very expensive and I don’t think it’s worth it.
The next product I don’t think is worth the splurge is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I don’t hate it but it just doesn’t do a lot for me. I like it better than most budget proof mascara’s, I have to admit that. It’s by far not the worst mascara I’ve ever tried, but it’s just quite expensive and I think that for that amount of money there are way better mascara’s out there like the Lancome Grandiose mascara for example or the Benefit They’re Real mascara.
Again, not a bad mascara, it does do its job quite okay, but if I’m going to spend a lot of money on makeup I don’t want quite okay, I want absolutely amazing and this product didn’t give me that.
The next product I’m going to discuss is the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide. I wrote a pretty positive review about it a few weeks ago and that is because I do genuinely think that this is a great foundation. It’s just not incredible. I do wear it quite often but that’s mainly because it was incredibly expensive.
The problem with this foundation is that it takes quite a lot of effort and work if you want to make it look right. You have to shake the life out of yourself and tap it on a specific location I’m still not sure where it actually is and if you don’t do that extremely well it will be super watery and it won’t cover up anything. So if you’re willing to put in that effort you go girl, this foundation might be perfect for you, but I just want to slap it into my face without too much fuzz and therefore it’s just not for me.
Another Too Faced product I don’t think is worth it is the Shadow Insurance. I never really believed in expensive eyeshadow primers and even though I did slightly change my mind about it I still don’t think it’s worth almost 20 Euro’s. I mean that’s quite expensive for a product that makes minimal difference compared to way more affordable eyeshadow primers.
I definitely don’t regret buying it, I like having it, the packaging is adorable and it does make a slight difference. But had I known the difference was this little before I probably wouldn’t have splurged on it.
The next product is actually one of my favourite blushes ever, it’s the Marc Jacobs Shameless blush. Yes, I really love this and I use it quite often, but still I don’t think it’s worth the money. Obviously Marc Jacobs is an incredibly expensive brand and in general I wouldn’t mind, however I think this is just very overpriced.
Yes it’s a nice blush, but it’s not incredibly unique and the quality isn’t exceptional. It’s not much better than for example mac blushes, which are way more affordable. So yeah, nice product but if you don’t have the money you’re definitely not missing out!
And that pretty much concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which products you think aren’t worth the incredibly big price tag!
