The 24th of March I started the first no-buy month of my life. I’m currently saving up for an amazing trip to Poland which my best friend where we plan to shop a lot, so to me this seemed like the perfect moment to do a no-buy month. Because I’m almost done with my no-buy month I thought it’d be fun to give you guys a little update on how it went and how I experienced the past couple of weeks. If you’re interested in reading more about that, make sure you keep on reading!
Well let’s start off with saying it’s hard. It can be very hard. It’s not that I’m addicted to shopping (well, okay maybe) but it’s just that sometimes you see something you really want, and you can’t buy it. You have to be patient. And even though I can be very patient, I can also be very impatient too.
The easiest days were the days I was locked up in my room to study for my exams or at work. Those days I had lots of distraction. But the days I was free and had nothing to do, it was really hard for me not to go shopping or buy things online.
The two things I experienced as the most difficult are:
- Not being able to shop online
- Not being able to buy myself a gift because I passed all my exams
It might sound stupid, but online shopping is one of my favourite things to do. When I’m at home, chilling, I’m always on the internet looking for new interesting makeup products to try out. The problem was that I couldn’t buy those things this month, which was by far one of the most difficult things.
But the thing that was even more difficult than that was not buying myself something after my exams. It might be a little weird but I like treating myself with some new makeup whenever I do something real good. Especially when it comes to school things. Last week I passed 3 important exams and I just wasn’t able to buy myself something. Even though I know I shouldn’t make such a big deal out of it, it’s just something I struggled with.
But at the end of the day I can say that I made it. I managed to stop shopping for one entire month. The only thing I bought was a gift for my boyfriend and some food from time to time (because I don’t think you should starve because you are doing a no-buy month). I’m quite proud that I made it and I hope some of you who were or currently are doing a no-buy month will be able to make it through too! Goodluck to you guys!
And that was it, I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know if you have ever done a no-buy month and if so let me know how it went!
XOXO, Nicole.
Goed gedaan!
