Nivea MicellAIR Skin Breathe Expert Micellair Make-up Remover Waterproof

10/01/2019

Throughout the past couple of weeks I have seen a million ads from the Nivea MicellAIR Makeup Removers. It’s literally everywhere. Normally I don’t really fall for these kinds of things and I don’t have a very good experience with the micellair products from Nivea. But somehow, this time something was different. It looked really, really amazing and people were really positive about it. Long story short: I went to the drugstore and picked up two bottles of it. Two because they had a buy one, get one free sale going on. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and I am ready as ever to review this for you guys. So if you want to find out whether or not it’s as good as the ads claim, continue reading!

The Nivea MicellAIR Make-up Remover comes in a black bottle. I really, really like the look of this. Normally I’m not the biggest fan of the looks of Nivea packagings, but this is lit you guys. I love it. Especially the combination of the black with the pink. This is exactly what I love. It’s so pretty. I also think that the shape of the bottle is really sleek and all together I think they did a really amazing job on this bottle. For real guys, this is amazing!

This MicellAIR product comes in three different versions. The one I have, which is great for removing all of your makeup. There is a bigger bottle with the same product as the one I have, so if you know you love it you can get that. And lastly there’s a version specifically formulated to remove eye makeup. The eye makeup one is equally as expensive as the one I have and you get far less product, so I don’t really know why someone would get that. This one is also perfectly able to remove (waterproof) eye makeup, as well as face makeup. But well, that’s up to everyone to decide for themselves.

Nivea MicellAIR Skin Breathe Expert Micellair Make-Up Remover Waterproof 200 ml – €5,49

According to Nivea their MicellAIR Skin Breath Expert Makeup Remover removes long wearing, waterproof makeup and mascara without rubbing or rinsing. The supposedly effective formula with give your skin an oxygen boost and let it breathe. The remover with its black tea extract is supposed to have a magnetic effect on oil, dirt and makeup, which it attracts with it’s micelles. Micelles are microscopic particles that surround dirt particles like makeup and excess sebum. The result should be clean, healthy looking skin that can breath. They emphasise that it’s important to shake the bottle well before using it.

I do think that they make it sound like a very professional and sciency product, while it still is something from the drugstore. The fact that it’s a drugstore product doesn’t mean it can’t be sciency, but it does make it far more likely. Because of that and because of my bad experience with micellar products from the drugstore I didn’t have crazy high hopes for this. I was just very curious to see whether it would actually be effective or not.

So, I put it to the test. Aside from finding out whether it would work or not I was also very curious about the formula of this product. It does look like a water but it also reminds me, from the looks of it, of one of those bi-phase cleansers. I don’t really know why. But luckily, when applied to the skin, it’s not oily at all. It’s just like a water but a bit more smooth. It’s super difficult to describe, but I hope that this makes some kind of sense to you all.

So, the way I use it is I put a bit on a cotton pad. Normally I would take a shower while still wearing my full face of makeup and remove it using cleansers underneath the shower. Nowadays I use this product in advance. This makes it much easier to remove the makeup properly underneath the shower and leaves me with a more clean result. That, because in fact, this cleanser works really, really well. Depending on how much makeup you’re wearing and how well you want to cleanse your skin, one to two cotton pads are enough to remove all of your makeup. Because I take a shower right after I don’t need it to be completely gone, so I just use one. However, I have also tried this on its own and it works great like that as well. In that case I would recommend using one to get 90% of the dirt off and then use one more for the little bits that are left for example around your eyes.

Over all I think that this cleanser takes off about 80 to 90% of your makeup. I do wear a pretty full face, as you could have seen in my What’s My Face Worth post. So that is a pretty sweet score. And what I love about this product is how easily it does that. It really doesn’t take any effort at all, no rubbing needed. Just like they claimed. That’s something I really, really didn’t expect. I obviously thought it was going to remove some makeup, but I didn’t think it would remove so much and with such ease.

Another big thing about this product that I love is how my skin feels after cleansing it. It doesn’t feel stripped, dry or flakey. It actually feels super smooth and soft. It’s super clean and it does in fact look super healthy. I really don’t know how they do that, but I am so super impressed.

You guys, in all honestly I am blown away by this product. I didn’t have very high hopes for this at all but in the end I think this is by far the best makeup remover I have ever tried from the drugstore. And actually, it’s better than the more pricier ones I have tried as well. It’s just the best makeup remover I know of at this moment in time. It’s so easy to use, it’s so effective and it leaves my skin feeling so good. I am loving this stuff!

With that being said I’m going to end today’s post. Thank you so much for reading it and be sure to let me know whether or not you’ve tried this product and if so, do you love it too?

Sound so good! I have the regular micellair water from Nivea, and I love that one. Must try this one!
