Nars x Pierre Hardy Blush in Boys Don’t Cry

20/09/2017

For the longest time I’ve known about sites such as Allcosmeticswholesale and Brigettesboutique, where they sell discontinued makeup or makeup from old limited editions for a reduced price, but I had never ordered anything from those sites before. Until about a month or two ago, when I bought this Nars blush from an old collection featuring Pierre Hardy. From the moment I saw it I was in love with it so I decided to order it and give it a good old try. Today it’s time for the review, so if you’re interested in finding out what this blush is like and if it’s worth the money, make sure you continue reading!

The NARS x Pierre Hardy blush comes in a white box with black letters. Usually the Nars boxes are black and have white text, so that’s a little different. The packaging of the product itself is like most other Nars products, but it is a lot bigger than their blushes usually are. This blush contains 13 grams of product while their regular blushes only come with 4.8 grams. So that’s quite a big difference if you ask me, and surprisingly enough this blush wasn’t more expensive because of that.

Having said that, let’s move on to the actual review. But before we do that I do want to mention quickly that I know it’s a little strange to review something from an old collection, but I’m doing it because first of all you might actually be able to find it somewhere someday and second of all because the quality of this blush does say something about the quality of other Nars blushes. Of course it could be a little different, but it’s still the same brand and probably the same formula.

NARS x Pierre Hardy Blush in Boys Don’t Cry – €32

The thing about this blush that first caught my attention was the gorgeous design on it. Instead of being plain pink it has golden lines all over it in a really pretty pattern. It looks very artsy and pretty and it just adds something to the overall look of the blush in my opinion. I know that if I use this blush for a couple of weeks this pattern will probably be gone, but that’s okay. I don’t think that the main reason why it’s there is to serve a purpose. I think it’s just there for design purposes.

What I didn’t realise when I purchased it is how bright the blush actually is. I was blinded by how pretty it looked that I didn’t realise the blush was bright pink. Very bright pink. Luckily I’m not one to be easily shocked by bright colours for the cheeks, I actually really like brighter blush colours, but it is something that I should’ve realised when I purchased it.

Anyway, the main part of the blush is bright pink. It’s very bright but it is does have this rosy undertone that makes it a little more soft and wearable in my opinion. It’s still not a very natural colour and I’m not saying it is, but because of the rosy tone it’s just a little tiny bit more toned down. Aside from bright pink there’s also a bit of shimmering gold in the blush. It looks very pretty but on the cheeks that’s not really going to show up at all.

Moving on to the quality of the blush. This is actually my second Nars blush, my first one was Isadora from the NARS x Sarah Moon collab. This is one of my favourite blushes because of the incredible quality, so I had pretty high hopes for this blush because of that. And I have to say, I’m not disappointed. The texture of the Nars blushes is really amazing. They feel quite creamy and very soft. They are incredibly soft, very pigmented and really easy to blend. They go on very smoothly and evenly and you never have to worry about them looking blotchy.

Another thing I like about the quality is that it’s a very long lasting blush. This blush isn’t going anywhere. I don’t know how they do it since it does seem to be pretty difficult for blushes to be long lasting, but Nars really did it. This blush stays in place all day no matter what!

Pigmentation wise it’s definitely a strong product. But because it’s quite a bright colour you might not want it to look this opaque on the cheeks. Therefore I applied another swatch which I blended a little bit. Please keep in mind that these swatches are made with my fingers rather than a brush. If you’d apply it with a brush (and a light hand) it will look even more natural). Anyway, I hope this picture shows you guys how you can wear such a bright colour on a daily basis. Because that’s definitely an option. Yes you do have to use a light hand and you might want to use a not too dense brush, but if you do that, you’re totally good to go!

I really wanted to add in a picture of this blush on my cheeks, but due to my very busy schedule I wasn’t able to do that, so you just have to trust me on my word this time. On the cheeks this blush looks really pretty. It makes you look a bit more healthy and also a lot more awake, but it also adds something girly to your face. Overall it’s an amazing extra finishing touch to your makeup look and I love the way it makes my face look. I really do!

Overall this NARS x Pierre Hardy blush stole my heart. I already loved it when I’d only seen a picture of it online, but now that I’ve tried and tested it I love it even more. It’s such a gorgeous blush and such a pretty one. Not just in the pan, but also on the cheeks. It’s also a very unique colour that could be worn in an extreme form as well as in a natural way and I like it for that as well. Overall I’m really glad I decided to buy it and I’m sure this won’t be my last Nars blush!

And that’s everything for today. Thank you so much for reading today’s review and be sure to let me know if you have ever tried a Nars blush and if so, let me know which shade you love the most!
