Nars has been one of my favourite brands for a long time now, but so far I haven’t been blown away by their foundations. The popular Sheer Glow just wasn’t really what I expected it to be so that did disappoint me quite a bit. Because I didn’t want to give up on Nars foundations just yet I decided to give another one of them a chance. This time I purchased the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. This foundation seemed to be a bit more up my alley and therefore I thought it was worth the shot. I’ve had it for almost a year now, so I think it’s about time for me to review it. If you’re interested in finding out more about this foundation, make sure you continue reading!
The packaging in which the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation comes is just amazing. It first of all comes with a pump that you don’t have to buy separately. I do really appreciate that. I always think it’s so strange when a foundation comes without a pump but with an opening that definitely requires one and therefore you have to buy one separately. Anyway, I also like the shape of the bottle. It’s a rectangular frosted glass bottle with the Nars logo printed on the front. I think that looks very classy and luxurious. It just shows the elegance of the Nars brand.
I also really like the black lid and the material that it is made out of. It’s made out of that rubbery feeling plastic most Nars packagings are made out of. I know that it does get dirty quite easily, but I just think it looks really pretty and therefore I don’t mind it at all!
Overall I’m a huge fan of the packaging. I think that it’s fancy, elegant and professional looking. I like the shape of the bottle and the minimalism in the design. I also like the size of it and the fact that it comes with a pump. So overall this packaging is a big hit for me!

Moving on to the shade. One thing that I absolutely love about Nars foundations is the fact that they always come in a ton of different shades, ranging from very fair to deep. I’m a very fair girl and therefore I chose to go for the shade Light 1 Siberia. This is the lightest shade in their foundation collection and in the past this has worked for me as well, so I was pretty sure that it was going to work for me this time again.
Siberia is, like I said, a very fair shade. It’s perfect for all of us pale girls out there. What I love about it is that it has a neutral undertone. This means that it has an even balance of pink and yellow tones. I know that lots of girls with fair skin have a rather pink undertone, which is why most pale foundations are rather pink. However, I have a more neutral undertone so I was really glad to finally find a foundation with the right undertone for me.
Another thing I love about the shade of this foundation is that it’s very flattering. On my skin pink tones aren’t flattering at all. They make me look like my whole face is a rash. However, yellow undertones, all though I like them better than pink, are also a little too much and too unreal for me. This neutral undertone is the perfect balance of both and therefore it creates a very calm and realistic look on my complexion.
Having said all of that, let’s start talking about the claims Nars has made regarding this foundation. According to Nars their All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation creates a full, natural-looking coverage with an unexpectedly weightless, 16 hour wear. The highly pigmented and perfectly balances formula is supposed to blend effortlessly with just one drop. This is the result of exclusive innovation uniquely designed to deliver long-wearing full coverage, weightlessly.
All together Nars says that this is a weightless, full coverage foundation. Back in the day I would say that that sounds too good to be true, but these days weightless full coverage foundations aren’t that new anymore. The secret behind these foundations is putting a lot of pigment in a watery formula and that’s it. However, even though it is something that has been done before, it doesn’t mean that this version is going to be great.
So, let’s talk about my experience with this foundation. First of all I think it’s really important to shake this foundation before use, especially if you haven’t used it in a while. If you don’t the formula can separate a little bit and the foundation won’t work as well. If you do shake it properly the formula feels really nice. It’s quite runny and it feels like it’s water based. Because of that it feels very light on the skin and it blends in a very natural way.
It’s a very quick foundation to work with. Because it’s so thin and blendable you don’t have to worry at all about it getting patchy or blotchy or whatever because it just won’t. It blends in a split second. I also really like the amount of coverage it provides. It’s a very natural full coverage. I know that sounds like a very weird thing to say, but what I mean by it is that it does cover up basically anything, however it doesn’t do it in a fake way. It doesn’t look like I’m wearing a ton of makeup. And it doesn’t feel like that either. So that’s a big, big win in my book.
Another thing I like about it is that it wears really nicely. I think that it stays very pretty all day long. The only thing you shouldn’t do is touch your face all too much when you’re oily because in that case it does transfer a little bit and you could accidentally move the product. That’s not what you want so do take notes on that.
I also really like the finish of it. It’s called a ‘luminous’ foundation but it isn’t luminous in a greasy looking way. I have rather oily skin so back in the day I would’ve stayed clear from foundations like this one. However, nowadays I like them. It does give you that really pretty luminous and healthy look without making you look like you’re a frying pan.
Overall I think that the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is an amazing foundation. It’s indeed weightless, it wears really nicely, it’s easy to apply and it has a natural full coverage. I also really love the shade range and I love how well this shade matches my skintone. I still can’t say that Nars foundations are my favourite foundations in the world, but I am starting to appreciate them more and more now.
And that’s all for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of the Nars foundations and which foundation is your favourite in general!
