For Christmas my (amazing) mom got me this gorgeous Nars And God Created The Women Eye Kit. I don’t own a lot of Nars products so this little kit is a great addition to my little collection. After trying it out thoroughly I felt like it was time for the review. So, that’s pretty much what I’m going to do today. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not this set is worth is and how I like it and so on, make sure you continue reading!
First of all let’s discuss what comes in this little kit. That might be even more important than discussing the packaging, right? Well the main thing that comes in this kit is the eyeshadow palette. It’s quite a slim and small palette and it contains 6 different shades of eyeshadow. Even though the packaging is rather small, I do feel like the pans that come inside the palette are reasonably sized so you do get quite a good amount of product.
Aside from the palette you also get two more products in this kit. First of all you get a small Nars eyeshadow primer. I’ve heard so many good things about it so I was very curious to see whether or not they were true. Aside from that it’s also a great product to get along with an eyeshadow palette since you need it if you want your eyeshadow to look fabulous.
The last product that comes in this kit is a small eyeshadow brush. It has quite a small handle which makes it the perfect size for travelling and the hairs are angled. It’s like an angled buffer brush for you eyes. I do think it looks really good and I think it’s nice they put an actual high quality brush in this kit instead of a cheap-ass sponge applicator.
So, onto the actual products. The first product we’re going to discuss obviously is the eyeshadow palette. The eye catcher of the kit. This palette comes, like I said, in quite a small packaging. The packaging is all black and is made out of a rubbery plastic material. On the front of the lid it says NARS in white and on the inside of the lid you’ll find a big mirror.
So, onto the colours. The colours that come in this palette are all quite neutral, which is something I like. Four of them are shimmery and two of them are matte. I do think that the colour selection in this palette is pretty great. There are enough options in here for everyone to create their perfect eyeshadow look.
Let’s quickly discuss the colours one by one before we hop into the pigmentation part of the review.
Bellissima II – Bellissima II is the cool-toned medium taupe shade in the left hand corner. It’s a medium tone and therefore perfect to use as your transition shade. It’s also great as your crease colour but for me it’s a little too light for that.
Kalahari I –Ā Kalahari I is one of my favourite colours in this palette. It’s a gorgeous shimmery gold colour with a warm tone to it, but not too warm. I don’t like it when golds are too yellow but luckily this one isn’t like that. On the picture it does appear quite light but in real life it’s slightly darker and therefore it’s the perfect lid shade for me.
Night Clubbing –Ā Night Clubbing is a dark green shade with a bit of shimmer to it. I have to say that I think it’s very unique and I really like that they added this colour to this palette. It gives you the opportunity to add something a little more special to the look while still keeping things neutral.
Alhambra I –Ā Alhambra I is a very pretty shimmery light champagne shade. Colours like this one are perfect for highlighting the brow bone or the inner corner. I also really like putting this in the centre of my lid to slightly brighten up the look.
Galapagos –Ā This next shade is one of my favourite crease colours ever. It’s a gorgeous deep shimmery brown. What makes it so pretty is the fact that it’s not metallic, but it does have shimmer to it. This way it’s not too intense for in the crease, but it is a little more exciting.
Coconut Grove –Ā The last colour is called Coconut Grove and it’s a matte black shade. A matte black is always nice to have in a palette since it could act as an eyeliner but also as a shade to darken up your look and make it more smokey. I really like it!
Pigmentation wise most colours are quite intense. The matte shades are a little less intense as I hoped, but to be completely honest with you, once they’re on the eyelids they’re all very intense and pigmented and you can’t even tell that the matte shades aren’t as intense. It just appears like that on the swatches.
I really have to say that I’m very impressed by the quality of these shadows. They are so buttery and intense, it’s insane. Normally I do really need to build up the colours that I use on my eyes, but when I’m using this palette non of that is needed, not even a little bit. These colours are crazily pigmented and intense and they are a dream to work with.
Before we move on to the conclusion part of this post I wanted to go into a little more detail regarding the brush and the eyeshadow primer that comes with this set. First it’s time for the brush.
Like I mentioned before the brush is quite short. It’s also a bit thicker than most brushes I own and I personally like that. This way you have a little more to hold on to and it just fits nicer inside your hands. The hairs of the brush are angled. This makes it perfect for applying anything into the crease and blending it.
I’ve only used the brush for that purpose and that purpose only: applying product and blending it inside the crease. For this it worked perfectly. Because the hairs are really soft it doesn’t irritate the skin at all. It just feels like a puppy is touching your eyelid and making your eyeshadow look even more perfect.
So, now that we’ve discussed that let’s move on to the eyeshadow primer. It comes in a white tube made out of the same material as the palette itself and it has a black lid. The primer comes with a angled sponge applicator (pretty similar to a lipgloss applicator) which makes applying the product to the lid very easy.
The texture of the product is really nice. It’s very soft and silky and it isn’t too sticky. It blends out really easily and doesn’t leave a white cast or anything like that on your lid, it completely vanishes. When it comes to intensifying your shadows it does a great job. I do think it’s better than a drugstore primer at that, but I don’t think it’s worth the large price tag if you aren’t a makeup obsessed person. For me it is really worth it and I’m really glad I have it.
Overall I’m a big fan of this eye kit. I love the shadows that come inside the palette and I also really enjoy the eyeshadow primer and the brush that come with it. I think it’s a great set and I think that you get quite a lot of great products for the price you pay. So all together I highly recommend giving this set a try because it is totally amazing!
