It has been quite a while since I first tried out an Aussie shampoo. I ended up really liking it and a while ago I finally ran out of it. At that point I decided I definitely wanted to repurchase it. But when I went to the store to pick it up, I found out that they didn’t have that specific one anymore. So, I ended up buying two versions that I hadn’t tried just yet and give them a try too. So, I’ve been using these shampoos for about two months now and I think it’s time for me to review them. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not these Aussie shampoo’s are any good and worth the money, make sure you continue reading this post!
Let’s start this post off by talking about the packagings. I do have mixed feeling about them. Let’s start with the positive things I have to say about it. The first thing I do like about them is the design of the bottle itself, the shape. I love that they are pretty long and have this lid that you have to flip open. I don’t think that’s the right way to describe what is happening, but I’m sure it will make sense to some of you.
Another thing I like about the packaging is the purple they used. And that brings me to something not as positive, the colour of the bottle. On one hand I don’t really hate the combination of these two colours. But on the other hand I don’t love it too. I just can’t put my finger on it. I don’t know if I think it’s a cool and authentic look, or whether I think it’s just a bit old-looking. However, it’s just a packaging and therefore not really worth it to spend so much time on thinking about whether I like the colour-combo or not. When I’m writing about packagings I always feel like I’m rambling about nothing. I mean, what does it matter anyway.
Anyway, over all I don’t think that the packagings look bad. They do have a unique look and that’s definitely something I do usually respect.
Having discussed the packaging, let’s start talking about the first shampoo. I’m tarting off with the Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo. Just the name of it is really, really fun. I love a good pun. Anyway, like the name already suggests, this product is going to add volume to your hair. I do have very thin and flat hair, so volume shampoo’s usually work really well for me.
According to Aussie this shampoo has a unique, lightweight formula with Australian hop extract. This will give your hair incredible amounts of volume and body and in the meantime it will protect your hair. And that’s it for the claims. They do keep it very simple but now that I’ve used this shampoo for a while I do think there’s nothing more to say about it than that. It does indeed add a ton of volume to the hair and it gives it a bit more texture, that enables my hair to end up having more body to it.
All in all it seems like a rather simple product, but it is more unique than you’d expect. I have tried lots of volumising shampoo’s throughout the year and I do think that this is the most effective one I tried so far. That being said I don’t think it’s the best shampoo in the world, but in terms of creating volume it does do an amazing job.

The thing that I like about it is that it makes my hair less slippery and smooth. I know that sounds like the opposite of what you’d want a shampoo to do, but if you have very slick and thin hair like me that might come in handy. For example: when I go to work I have to wear my hair up in a bun and if I use my normal shampoo my hair will get so soft and smooth that it’s almost impossible for me to get it to a point where it will stay in the bun. When I use this shampoo it’s way, way easier. My hair will get a little more rough and it does kinda feel like I went swimming in the ocean.
While I do like that effect for days where I have to wear my hair up and I want it to stay up, I don’t really love it for days when I want to wear my hair down. It does take away a bit of my natural shininess and the soft and smooth look my hair naturally has. It actually makes it feel a little more dry even.
So overall I do think that this is a very effective shampoo. It creates volume and texture and makes my hair easier to manage when I’m going to do an updo for example. However, it does make it feel a little more rough and dry, which is not ideal when I have a normal day where I want to wear my hair down and have it look shiny and stuff.
By the way I almost forgot to mention that this shampoo is free of silicones. I have hair that gets greasy really easily, and washing it with silicone free products really helps for me. So if you struggle with the same issues, you might want to look out for that!
Moving on to the second shampoo. This one is the Aussie Pure Locks Shampoo. This is another silicone free shampoo from the Aussie range. Instead of being volumising, this shampoo claims to help with the everyday stuff like pollution, heat and product build-up that can stand in the way of perfect hair. This shampoo is super to be super-light and because of the Kakadu Plum in it, it gently helps destress locks, leaving them purified, shiny and rejuvenated.
In general it sounds like this shampoo is going to be more of an everyday shampoo. The shampoo I had before this was actually called something like daily something and aimed at people who wash their hair daily. This one sounds like it’s okay for that as well. All though you can definitely use it too if you don’t wash your hair on a daily basis. It will just really help you with getting rid of the product build up and other things that influence the way your hair looks on a daily basis.

The thing that I like about it is that I feel like it really gets my hair clean. Especially when I’ve used more product in my hair than I’d usually would or on days where my hair is feeling really greasy and heavy I like to use this shampoo. It’s like a deep cleanse. But because it’s rather gentle and not as harsh as some of those deep cleansing shampoo’s, it’s okay to use it regularly without damaging your hair.
After using this I feel like my hair is clean and it does feel a lot lighter and more pure. It makes it look a bit more voluminous because of the lightweight formula and I like that as well. It makes my hair easier to handle and it will look clean for longer. With this shampoo I don’t feel like I need to wash my hair at the end of the day, which is something I do experience with most other shampoo’s I use.
In terms of scent I’m not crazy about both of these shampoo’s. Back when I first heard about the Aussie hair products I heard lots of people rave about the scent of them, but well, it’s just not for me. It’s not a terrible scent, but it’s very specific. You either hate it or you love it I guess.
All in all I’m happy with both of these shampoo’s. I’m glad that I decided to try two different ones this time because it allowed me to get to know some new products. I think both products really do what they claim and they both work really well for my hair type. They make my hair more voluminous, clean and easier to handle. I’m a big fan of the Aussie shampoo’s!
That’s pretty much all for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post, and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with the Aussie hair care products. And if so, let me know how you like them!
