I‘m not sure at all to what extend this is relatable to you guys, but Christmas is my time to shine makeup-wise. I like to really sit down and take my time to compose a really stunning makeup look and therefore I do think about what I’ll will be wearing in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Because I figure I’m not the only one who is like that I decided it might be fun to start sharing about the options I’m considering. This isn’t going to be an entire look or something like that, just a couple of products I’m debating about. So, if you’re interested what I might chose to wear on Christmas day, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Red Lip Debacle
Throughout the year I’m all about natural makeup and neutral shades. On Christmas however I like to tackle things differently. First of all I think it’s a must to wear a red lip colour. I’ve done so the past couple of years and I am going to do it this year as well. However, I’m not completely sure which one. I always used to go for a very opaque one and quite a fresh shade of red, but I’m thinking about wearing something like my Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Dialogue this year. It’s a bit more of a matte kind of red than it is opaque, but I think that looks very pretty as well.
Another option I might go for is the Dior Addict Fluid Lipstick in Pandore. This is definitely a very opaque colour, but it is a gloss rather than a matte lipstick. It’s a very fresh, fruity kind of red which I think makes it really perfect as well.
Another option would be going for a more berry kind of red like the Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick in Joaquin. My last option would be the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Audrey. This is another really pretty red that is a bit more special than the regular fruity and fresh red.
The Highlighter Gate
Another thing I’m still debating on is the highlighter. Throughout the year I’m not that crazy about highlighter, but on a glittery day like Christmas I do want to go all out with the cheeky glow. This requires the perfect highlighter. One option I might go for is my new Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter in Sin. This is a very intense glow but also a very pretty one.
Instead of that I can also go for my go-to Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in 001. This is a classic for me, a product that can’t disappoint me. So it would be a safe option. I also think that this does have a decent glow-intensity, but it’s not too over the top.
If that isn’t going to be it I might also choose to go for the Chanel Le Signe Du Lion Highlighter from their holiday collection of 2017. I think this one is in between the Urban Decay and Dior highlighter in terms of intensity and it is a really pretty colour of highlight. Aside from that it’s from a holiday collection so that would make it a pretty amazing fit. I’m not sure just yet, but I think that the Chanel one is in a favourites position.
The Foundation Game
In terms of foundation I like to keep things dewy and natural these days. I’m not a full-coverage girl anymore, I like to show that I have lived. However, on Christmas no pimple may ruin my day. Especially when wearing red lips, it’s important to keep your complexion even and clear. Therefore I’m in complete doubt about the foundation I want to use. One of my current favourites is the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint. This one does have a nice amount of coverage but doesn’t look super cakey.
However I do think that my new Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Cushion Foundation has the most luxurious looking finish to it. The coverage isn’t super high, but concealer can fix a lot. And I do think that the finish of that foundation is very Christmas-worthy.
Another choice in this battle is the Diorskin Star Foundation. This is just my holy grail foundation and it’s a bit of the best of both worlds. It does have a very luxurious looking finish and the foundation feels very weightless. It is a lot more glowy than the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, but it’s also an unbeatable favourite.
The Battle Of The Eyeshadows
The last thing I’m not sure about just yet is eyeshadow. I feel like eyeshadow has always been my favourite makeup product out of everything and therefore I especially think I need to peak at Christmas with my shadows. However, these days I do have my favourite looks down and why mess up a perfect recipe? Therefore one of the options is going for my go-to look using the Stila Eyes Are The Window Eyeshadow Palette in Soul. This is a look that I can never go wrong with and that always works with everything.
Another option would be to create a look with either my Dior Couture Colours & Effects Eyeshadow Palette of the Dior Colour Design Holiday Eyeshadow Palette. Both of these palettes are very dear favourites of mine. I think these palettes allow me to create natural-smokey looks. I think that they are a bit more special than the Stila palette, but they can also get a bit too heavy for a look with red lipstick.
The last option would be using my new favourite Nars Erdem Eyeshadow Palette. This comes with the most perfect shades ever that create a unique yet simple look. The quality of these shadows is just amazing and that shows. They have such a luxurious finish to them. There’s also a purple in the palette allowing me to go a bit more crazy with the colours I use.
With that being said I think it’s clear that I’m not that sure yet about what I’m going to do with my makeup on Christmas day. I’m glad that we actually have two days of Christmas in the Netherlands so I can go for two options if I want to. Anyway, thank you so much for reading today’s post and please let me know which option you think I should go for!
Oh my gosh, I’m drooling over your makeup stash. I’m sure you’re gonna look fab on Christmas Day. Loved this!
I love the idea of this look – very festive! I’m going a little brighter on the eyes so will probably go nude on the lips. Hope you have a lovely Christmas 🙂
