To be real with you guys, my skin has been absolute crap these past couple of months. I don’t know what happened to it or where I went wrong, but it’s bad man. Really bad. So that meant I had to make some kind of switch in my skincare routine. I had to start using a steady routine with good products for these problems and hope it would be enough to tackle my terrible skin. This resulted in a brand new skincare routine which I’m going to talk to you guys about in today’s post. So if you’re interested in reading more about my updated skincare routine for blemished skin, make sure you continue reading this post!
Okay so let’s start with the morning, the moment where it all begins. Right when I get out of bed and want to get ready for the day, I start off with cleansing my skin. In order to do that I like to use a washable cotton-pad from Lanaluna in combination with my (still) beloved Bioderma. I’m currently using the pink bottle, but I also like the green ones they do. This will take off the excess oil I have on my skin and the dirt that might be left on there.
After doing that, I start moisturising. Recently I bought something new that is supposed to help my skin get cleared up. It’s the The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and so far I’m okay with it. It’s some sort of serum that helps your skin to clear up and it also leaves the skin with a natural matte finish.
After using the serum, I go in with my moisturiser. Lately I’ve been switching a lot between the moisturiser I’m using, but at this point I’m all about the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Moisturiser. It matches with my usual cleanser and it works really well for me. The formula is nice and lightweight and it leaves my skin more ready than ever for makeup. To moisturise my eyes I like to use the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Eye Recovery. This is a very gentle but super effective eye cream that adds the extra moisture that the delicate eye area needs.
I don’t do this everyday, but some days I also like to go in with my Lush Amazon Primer Face Oil. It’s a tad bit heavy feeling on the skin so that’s why I don’t use it all of the time. But it does make a huge difference in how well my makeup stays in place and it gives me a nice and matte finish.
When I get home from an entire day of living, I’m ready to take off my makeup. This is another part of my routine that didn’t use to be very steady. At this point I try to regulate it using my Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser every single day to remove my makeup. Whatever the occasion is, this is a staple for me. It’s very soft, it’s gentle but it’s also very effective. It’s really amazing in my opinion.
In order to double cleanse I do use a different product in combination with my Purity Made Simple. I like to use my Lush Sleepy Naked Cleansing Balm for that, alternating with my Chanel Gel Pureté Cleanser. I do switch between the two because the cleansing balm from Lush is a bit heavy, so I don’t like that for everyday.
In combination with the Purity Made Simple, I like to use my Philips Visapure. I feel like this allows me to really do a deep cleanse on my skin and get every last bit of makeup off of my face. I do also notice that it leaves my face feeling nice and smooth, especially the nose-area. Therefore this is a big essential for me and my skincare routine.
After cleansing my skin I like to moisturise it once again. For the longest time I did still use some kind of cleanser or toner at this point in the routine, but as for now I don’t. I only do so whenever there’s a bit of makeup left around the eyes for example. But that rarely ever happens. In case it doesn’t, I move straight to moisturising.
Before applying my actual moisturiser, I, once again, apply the The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution. They claim you should use it twice a day in order to get the full effects so that’s what I’ve been doing right now. It’s not greasy or heavy at all, so I don’t hate to put it on. The scent is also quite okay so that’s a plus.
After applying another layer of the serum from The Body Shop, I go in with my night-time moisturiser. I have been switching up between moisturiser a lot these past couple of months, but now I have settled for one. At this moment in time I like to use my Lush Enzymion Moisturiser at nighttime. During the colder months I like something heavier, but now that it’s quite hot I don’t feel a need for that. Enzymion is pretty lightweight, but it feels absolutely amazing on the skin. I really like it!
And that brings us to the end of my current skincare routine. I’m glad I finally have a steady routine down again. I feel like having a steady routine makes such a big difference in the way my skin looks. It’s much more calm right now and my skin is starting to clear up.
Thank you guys so much for reading today’s post, and be sure to let me know what your favourites from your skincare routine are at this moment in time! I’d love to read about that!
Wow thank you for the thorough and honest review. It was very helpful and informative. This is my first time reading your reviews and will continue to read more.
