Like you guys probably know by now I went to France and shopped at pretty much every pharmacy there was to find. I shopped all the must-haves and way more. After trying everything out I felt like it was about time to write a post on which products I think are musthaves from the French Pharmacy since apparently, that’s a thing people are interested in knowing. I personally think it’s interesting too so yeah. I’m going to talk about that today. Without further ado, let’s get into it and start discussing the musthaves!
La Roche-Posay
I don’t think it’s a big surprise but I’m a really big fan of the brand La Roche-Posay. And I have been for quite a while actually. Back when I was only 13 years old I went to the pharmacy to get some medicine or something with my mother and while looking at the skincare products I came across this brand. The pharmacist told me everything about it and recommended the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo moisturising gel to me. My mom purchased it for me and that was the start of my love for La Roche-Posay.
With that being said I think it’s only obvious that that moisturiser is my first musthave. It’s actually pretty easily available all over the world, but it’s a bit more affordable in France. I saw it for around €9 at the pharmacy.
Another La Roche-Posay product I highly recommend getting is their amazing Purifying Foaming Gel. This is the best makeup remover I have ever tried and it also helps a lot with breakouts. It’s absolutely incredible!
Biafine
Another product that I highly recommend getting your hands on when you’re in France is Biafine. I have read a lot about this and everything that I’ve read about it is true. Biafine is a cream your can use on burn wounds. But according to the internet it’s also a great face cream. It’s definitely not something you should use on a daily basis because it’s very heavy and it does have some ingredients in it you just don’t want to put on your face everyday, but as a weekly treatment it’s incredible.
This cream just completely heals your skin. It makes it feel soft, smooth and new again. Since it’s meant to help your skin heal it will actually repair the skins condition and I like the way that looks and feels. It’s also super affordable. I bought a huge tube for only 5 Euro’s, but they also have a smaller one which is even cheaper!
Caudalie Beauty Elixer
Moving on to something I was rather skeptical about at first, the famous Caudalie Beauty Elixer or Eau de Beaute. This is a water or as some call it a fixing spray that could be used as a refreshing mist but it could also act as a makeup fixer. I don’t really know why I was this skeptical about it, but turns out: I love it.
I do have to admit that on oily skin days this doesn’t help with the oily looks, but my lord. It makes my skin look so naturally gorgeous. It makes it look as if you aren’t wearing any foundation at all and you’re just naturally that flawless and to me, that’s a great look!
Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre
Moving on to Embryolisse. Embryolisse was quite popular a couple of year ago but because my oiliness was way worse back then I didn’t even consider putting on such a rich cream. Nowadays I can appreciate cremes like that and I finally decided to buy this wonderful product. And thank god I did because it is mind-blowing. Lord oh lord, it’s amazing.
I have never had such smooth and silky skin as I have when I use this. I just put it on before I go to bed and when I wake up my skin is just perfect. Absolutely perfect. I don’t know what it is about it or how it works, but I have never felt so great about my skin as I do now that I have this. Everybody NEEDS this in their life! I’m not kidding!
Bioderma micellar water
The Bioderma hype has been over for quite a while but for me it’s not just about the hype. I genuinely think that the micellar waters by Bioderma are just the best and definitely a lot better than the micellar waters they have at the drugstore nowadays. These are just the best at removing your makeup on the spot. They leave nothing behind and create a perfect canvas for your new makeup or for a nice creme. Or nothing if you prefer that. That’s totally up to you.
I also like that they have multiple versions nowadays. I have only tried the regular, pink version and the version for oily skin, but they also have a blue one and a different version on the pink one.
Vichy Normaderm 3-in-1
Moving on to something I didn’t expect to buy, the Vichy Normaderm 3-in-1 Mask, Cleanser and Exfoliator. I knew I loved the Normaderm range from Vichy but this. It actually reminds me a lot of a 3-in-1 product I have from Balea, but it’s way, way better.
What this is, is a product with very fine scrubbing particles and a bit of a clay texture. You can either massage it onto your skin thoroughly to use it as an exfoliator. You can just put it all over your skin and wash it off like a cleanser. Or you can put it on your skin, let it sit for a while and then wash it off so it can act as a face mask. It’s everything you need and I love it.
Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel
Another product I initially didn’t intend buying is the Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel. I am not that familiar with the brand Avène, but because I did like the few products I have tried from them and because I like cleansing gels I decided to give it a try anyway. It did take me a little while to figure out how to open it, it’s a unique system, but after figuring out how that works I fell in love with it.
It’s such a gentle product but it does such an amazing job at removing my makeup and making my skin feel really nice and clear. I have to say that it’s not as amazing as the La Roche-Posay one, but I do really love it!
Caudalie Rose/Thé de Vigne
My last musthave are the Caudalie de Vigne shower gels. Oh lord these are amazing. I haven’t used anything else since I returned from Lille and it has been quite a while now. I’m just so in love with them. First of all they smell absolutely incredible and second of all the scent really lingers so you keep smelling it throughout the day.
I also like that they do feel nice and gentle on the skin. I feel like I have said the world gentle a million times in today’s post but all of these products are just really nice and gentle. Anyway, I love these shower gels and I never want to use anything else anymore. I love, love, love them!
And that basically concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading about the products I think are musthaves and I hope it’s helpful to you in anyway. Thank you guys so much for reading and be sure to let me know which French pharmacy products you’d recommend!
XOXO, Nicole.
