Multi-Review: Maybelline, L’Oreal & Rimmel Goodies!

25/02/2019

Recently a webshop called Makeupshoppen.nl reached out to me and asked me if they could send me a couple of makeup products for me to try out and review on my blog. Since I’m a big fan of testing out makeup products I obviously thought that was a very good idea so I said yes. Not long later I received the makeup products and I immediately started testing them. Today I’m going to review all of them, so if you’re interested in finding out what these products are like, make sure you continue reading this post!

The first product I got is this famous Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I think this isn’t something new to any of you guys, since this used to be one of the most popular powders ever back in the day. And I definitely loved using it too. I got this is the shade 001 Transparent, which is a great universal shade that can be used to set your make up in place. I don’t know if it’s really translucent in a way it can be used on all skin tones, but I’m sure that most porcelain/ivory complexions can use this powder.

The Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder claims to stay in place for up to 5 hours and minimise the visibility of your pores. These are some great aspects. I don’t think that 5 hours is super long though, but from experience I know that in fact this powder lasts much longer than 5 hours. It does obviously depend on how oily your skin naturally is, but on me it definitely stayed in place and kept me matte for at least 8 hours.

All in all I think that the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder is a great powder staple. It’s very effective and it keeps my skin looking matte pretty much all day long. I love how the colour is transparent so you don’t have to worry about finding the exact right shade for your skin tone and I’m a fan of the pore minimising effect it has.

The second product I received is the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow Foundation. Ever since I tried the YSL Fusion Ink Cushion Foundation I’m head over heels with cushion foundations, so this is a product I was very excited to give a try. After all, L’Oreal is also the owner of YSL and a lot of other high-end brands, so they do know how to make a proper product.

In terms of packaging I think L’Oreal nailed it. The packaging looks pretty and sleek. It feels nice and sturdy and it comes with a little sponge which is handy for on the go. The only downside to all this is the fact that the shade is a tad bit on the dark side for me. But obviously that couldn’t stop me from trying it. I just needed to know what this foundation was going to be like for me.

The product itself is really nice. It’s a very lightweight and natural looking foundation. That’s pretty much exactly what I love to wear these days. It doesn’t have very high coverage, but that’s okay. It’s natural and you can always add a bit of extra coverage to problem areas using concealer. The foundation has a nice and dewy finish but not in a way oily-skin-girls can’t wear it. I really love the way this looks on my skin.

Moving on to the third product already. I actually received two lipsticks from Maybelline. One from the Color Sensational collection and one Super Stay lipstick. Sadly the Color Sensational one broke inside the packaging and I just cant get it to come out, so sadly I can’t review that one for you guys. However, the Super Stay one is also very interesting so it’s all okay.

I received the Maybelline SuperStay 14H One Step Lipstick in the shade 720 Lasting Chestnut. I have to say that, even though this might not be a colour I’d immediately be attracted to, I really love the look of. I have to say that I’m positively surprised by how pretty this lipstick actually is. It’s a very warm reddish brown colour with a hint of pink to it. I think it’s very natural and wearable on the lips and therefore I’m sure I’m going to wear it a lot more in the future.

In terms of quality I’m also really surprised by this product. It’s been a hot minute since I last tried one of the Maybelline SuperStay Lipsticks and that’s a real shame. This lipstick is so incredible. First of all it’s almost weightless on the lips so it’s super comfortable. It’s easy to apply and it doesn’t feel drying at all. Normally I don’t like longlasting lipsticks or matte lipsticks because they feel drying and I have to admit that I did expect this one to be a bit drying too. But I was dead wrong. This feels so comfortable!

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara – €11,95

The last product I received is the L’Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara. I’ve been meaning to try one of the L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara’s for so long but somehow I’ve never gotten around actually buying and trying one until now. And I have to say it surprised me. The wand is nice and thin and therefore it allows you to have a lot of control. It also works very precise, which is great.

The main thing this mascara does is add A TON of length to the lashes. Like A TON. I was very impressed by that. It also curls the lashes and adds a bit of volume. But for the real, full on volume you will have to get another mascara because this one focusses itself mainly on lengthening aspects.

And that brings me to the end of this post. I have to say that I’m really impressed by all of these products. I said that it has been a hot minute since I tried a Maybelline SuperStay lipstick, but it has been a while since I tried any of these brands in general. These products are really nice quality and definitely products that are making their way into my daily routine. Especially the mascara and lipstick have become huge favourites!

Okay, but long story short: this is it for today. Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which one of the five products you like the most and what your drugstore essentials are!

The rimmel stay matte powder is an OG classic for me, I’ve gone through several and I still love it. I also really liked that L’Oreal Paris cushion foundation, i loved the formula but cushion foundations are just not for me. x
