Recently I bought a new makeup product at the store and with that I received a sample of the Mon Guerlain perfume. I have to say that I had never heard of this perfume before and I’m actually not even that familiar with the Guerlain brand. Strangely enough I decided to give the sample a try, something I normally never do. And guess what: I absolutely loved the scent. This resulted in me buying the full size bottle. I didn’t even hold back on the size of that. I went for 50 ml of goodness. And today it’s time for the review. So if you’re interested in finding out whether or not this perfume is worth the splurge and why, make sure you continue reading this post!
First things first: let’s talk packaging. The Mon Guerlain perfume from -surprise, surprise- Guerlain, comes in a really classic looking white box. The text is half red, half black and the box has a really pretty golden lining around the bottom part. I really like that detail. I think it looks super pretty and fancy. It adds something chic to the box without overdoing it.
When you open up the box the perfume bottle will appear. The bottle has a very unique shape. It reminds me of something historical. I’ve never been good at history so I can’t be specific about it, but well, you can see what it looks like. It’s unlike anything I already have in my collection. Around the little round lid on top of the bottle is another gorgeous golden lining with a nice pattern in it. Everything is so well-thought out and detailed. I really love the whole look of this bottle.
The Mon Guerlain perfume is available in three sizes. There’s a 30 ml bottle, a 50 ml bottle and they also do a 100 ml bottle. Because I loved the sample so much I went for the 50 ml option. But lord, the 100 ml sounds like absolute life goals. I can’t imagine how expensive that would be though.
Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau De Parfum 50 ml – €99,50
According to Guerlain, the Mon Guerlain EDP is a tribute to today’s femininity. A strong, free and sensual femininity. It has ingredients from around the world: lavender from Provence, Indian jasmine, Australian sandalwood and vanilla from Papua New Guinea. They say that this scent is quite a head-turner. In a few words Guerlain describes this scent as fresh oriental, audacious, radiant and sensual. It has notes of Carla lavender, Sambac jasmine, album sandalwood and vanilla tahitensis. I don’t know what half of these words mean, but what I do know is that this perfume smells really darn good.
The thing is, if I read something smells ‘oriental’, I immediately think of something spicy. And I don’t know what I think of a spicy smelling perfume. That’s not really my thing to be honest. And guess what: the scent of this perfume is actually really up my alley, so something is going wrong here.
If I smell the perfume the first thing that comes to my mind is floral. It’s a floral and also a very luxurious scent. I don’t know a single word to describe what I mean with a luxurious scent. But if you’re a regular perfume wearer, I guess you know what I’m trying to say with that. It smells, indeed, very feminine and sensual and I really like it. It’s definitely something different than I’m used to.
The Mon Guerlain perfume is available in the Eau de Parfum edition and also as an Eau de Toilette. I bought the Eau de Parfum because I generally like that more. It’s a bit stronger and more present. Sometimes the scent smells a little different in the EDT and since I got a sample of the EDP, the most logical choice seemed to buy the EDP as well.
The scent is nice and strong. It’s definitely out there and about 2 spritzes are more than enough. Sometimes I like to add an additional third spritz to get it to be more present, but two is more than enough. I like that about it. It makes this perfume nice and durable. I’ve been using it for over a month now and you still can’t tell this perfume has ever been used.
The lifetime of the perfume is pretty darn good too. You can literally smell it all day long and, if you spray it on your clothes, the day after as well. I like that about a perfume. There is literally no need to worry about re-spritzing yourself or anything like that. Oh, and like Guerlain told us, this is definitely a perfume that is going to get you complimented. In multiple occasions people have asked me what perfume I was wearing because they thought it smelled so good.
All in all I’m a really big fan of my new Mon Guerlain perfume. I really, really love how luxe and feminine the scent is. It’s also just a very nice high-quality perfume with a strong and longlasting scent. A little bit of this perfume goes a very long way and I love that about it. This is definitely my new favourite perfume. I can’t stop using it!
With that being said I think it’s time to end today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it, and be sure to let me know what your all time favourite perfume is!
