A few weeks ago I came across an ad for the brand Meeki. They had some sort of sale going on that basically said: buy a nail polish and only pay for the shipping costs. That seemed like quite a great deal to me so I decided to choose a colour and go for it. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out what this nail polish is like, make sure you continue reading!
First things first: let’s discuss the packaging. The Meeki polishes come in a little box. Inside that box are two holes in which you’ll usually find two nail polishes. Since I only bought one, one of the holes is empty. The nail polish itself comes in quite a slim, rectangular shaped bottle with a grey semi-matte lid. Overall it looks pretty simple, but I like it!
Meeki has quite a wide variety of shades available. I ended up going for this milky pink shade called Sun Kissed. It’s a very basic and simple colour but I like that about it. It makes it a very wearable colour for any occasion and that’s always a nice thing.
The thing that made me want to try one of the Meeki nail polishes is the fact that their polishes are vegan. I personally don’t use vegan makeup only, but it’s always nice when a product is actually vegan. Aside from being vegan, Meeki nail polishes are also infused with ingredients that make them caring. On the website it actually says that this nail polish will strengthen your nail beds.
Whether or not that’s true, I can’t really tell you that. What I can tell you is that I haven’t experienced any difference in the quality of my nails and/or nail beds so purely based on that I’d say it’s not true. I do believe that there is some of the ingredient they claim to be strengthening in there and I do believe that ingredient might be strengthening, but I think they put such a small amount of it in there you have to use a ton of nail polish in order to notice any difference.
When it comes to the quality of the polish itself I have to say I was very disappointed. For some reason I did expect quite a lot of this nail polish, but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. Polishing the nails wasn’t as easy as it could be since the polish was quite thick and streaky and the brush wasn’t the nicest. However, in the end it turned out pretty fine.
The drying process went quite fast, it wasn’t one of those polishes that takes forever to dry down. However, the thing that bothers me the most is the fact that it chips SO flipping fast. Like nope, that’s not okay. I put it on at about 10 PM and by 1 AM most nails were chipped. Like what’s that all about Meeki. Maybe it’s because I didn’t use a topcoat, but to be honest I do think a polish should be able to stay in place for a couple of hours even without the use of a topcoat.
So all together this nail polish really disappointed me. I absolutely adore the colour of it, I like how it came in a cute little box, but the quality is just bad. The fact that it wasn’t super easy to apply isn’t the biggest deal to me, but the chipping is just insane. If it was a cheap nail polish I might have accepted it, but since you pay around 14 Euro’s for this I think it’s just unacceptable!
The Meeki Nail Polishes are available on their website for €14,-.
That was everything for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which nail polish really disappointed you!
XOXO, Nicole.
Ja echt jammer he! Zeker omdat het zo een leuk kleurtje is.
Mooi subtiel kleurtje zeg
Jammer dat de kwaliteit zo slecht is! Voor die prijs koop ik liever een Essie lakje, love them 🙂
Ja inderdaad. Die zijn nog goedkoper ook en een stuk beter!
