About a year ago I was a huge fan of the Maybelline Super Stay nail polishes. I loved the colours, they were very easy to work with and they stayed in place so well. I was totally obsessed with them. Then I started working at my current job, wasn’t allowed to wear nail polish anymore and totally forgot about it. But a few weeks ago when I saw them in stores I remembered how amazing they were and decided to buy two more colours. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about these two polishes, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with the first colour. The first colour I bought is a really nice light, sky blue colour. The colour is called Uptown Blue, which I think is very appropriate for this colour and in general just really fun. I do really love wearing colours like this on my nails, but I don’t have many colours like it.
Maybelline doesn’t make too many promises when it comes to these Super Stay 7 Days Gel Colour nail polishes. The main claim they make is that it’s supposed to last an entire week. The reason why it works (according to Maybelline) is because of the ingredients.
Back in the days when I was obsessed with the polishes from this range, I really thought they stayed in place 7 days. They even survived my job which was a very unlikely thing at that point. Nowadays it’s still pretty much the same thing. It obviously does depend on how careful I am with my nails, but in general it does last about 5 days to a week.
Aside from that the colour is also very opaque. I applied two coats for the picture because I always feel like that’s a little bit prettier, but if you’re someone who is used to applying one coat only this is definitely a polish you’ll like. After one coat it’s not fully covering, but it’s pretty impressive.
The other colour I bought is called Mint Jade. This is one of the prettiest and most unique colours I currently have in my collection. It’s a very pretty pastel mint colour. It’s bright because of the mint, but because of the creaminess it’s pastel at the same time. I feel like that’s a very unique combination and I think it’s really pretty.
At first I thought I’d like Mint Jade a little less than Uptown Blue, but when I started to swatch both of them I changed my mind real quick.
Even though I think Uptown Blue is a gorgeous nail colour, Mint Jade is just way prettier. It’s just a very unique colour and I really love the way it looks on my nails. It’s super opaque, just as opaque as Uptown Blue and it’s the perfect spring and summer colour.
I also really like the finish of it. On the swatch I didn’t use a topcoat whatsoever and it’s still super shiny and glossy. It does actually look quite a bit like a gel nail polish, which is what this is supposed to be according to Maybelline. I really like that about it.
All together I’m still just as big of a fan of these nail polishes as I was one (maybe two) years ago. I don’t wear them as often anymore because of my job, but whenever I get the chance I’ll definitely put one of these colours on my nails. The staying power is impressive, the colours are very opaque and the gel like finish is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend these nail polishes!
The Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Colour nail polishes are available at the drugstore for €8,99 each.
