It has been quite some years since Maybelline first launched their BB cream. I have always wanted to give it a try, but back then I never really ended up buying it and actually giving it a try. Until a while ago when I saw it on sale somewhere and I decided to just go for it and finally give it a try. I decided to go for the Maybelline Dream BB Pure instead of the normal one since I do have oily skin and this seemed more appropriate for that. Anyway, today I’m going to review it and if you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about this product, make sure you keep on reading!
The Maybelline Dream BB Pure comes in a really pretty looking tube. The tube is rather small in size but it does come with 30 ml of product which is standard for products like this one. The tube has a blue and skintone colour theme going on and I really like that. The regular version has a pink and skintone theme which I do prefer since I like pink better than blue, but well, it doesn’t really matter does it? It’s just the tube.
When it comes to the decoration of the tube I don’t have much to say. I don’t think that Maybelline spent too much time designing the tube, especially the actual decoration of it, but I don’t hate it. I like the shape and the size, but the decoration doesn’t really do much for me. However, because I do like the shape of the tube so much I still think it’s a really nice packaging.
Maybelline Dream BB Pure – €8,45
The Dream BB Pure is available in three different shades: light, medium and deep. I do think that that’s a rather disappointing shade range since I’m pretty sure that most of us don’t match these three shades. Since it is a more sheer product I do think that it’s less important that the shade is an exact match to your skintone, but still, it matters and three shades isn’t a very including shade range.
The shade I bought is called light. It’s the lightest one available and even though it still isn’t an incredibly light shade, I do think it matches my skintone well enough for me to wear it.
But let’s stop talking about the shade range and start talking about the product itself. According to Maybelline this BB skin-clearing perfector adjusts to skin tone, minimises the look of pores and reduces the appearance of redness. The salicylic acid in this product clears acne, conceals imperfections, enhances and clarifies the skin. They claim that the 2% of salicylic acid is the highest percentage of this powerful blemish-fighter that you can get without prescription, but it’s gentle enough for everyday use. Aside from that this product is also supposed to hydrate the skin, feel lightweight and it’s oil-free. It also contains SPF 15.
Overall it seems like this is going to be the perfect all-in-one product. Everything you need from skincare to foundation in one product. If that’s actually true, I think this is an amazing product. But sadly, I’m not that sure about it. I don’t think that the skincare benefits of this BB cream really live up to the expectations and therefore I do think that you should continue using your regular skincare if you use this. It might be a great addition to your already existing skincare routine, but it isn’t a replacement for it.
I do believe that there are some acne-fighting ingredients in this product, however I haven’t noticed a ton of difference in my skin so far. I have to say that my current break-out is quite persistent, but the fact that I haven’t noticed any difference since I started using this product doesn’t mean much good either.
The coverage of this BB cream is something I am positive about. It’s definitely a light coverage and therefore not perfect for days where your skin is looking terrible, but on more natural days I do love wearing it. I love the fact that it’s so lightweight and natural looking while still evening out my skintone. I think it’s an amazing product to wear during the summertime when it’s hot outside and you’re not feeling your regular foundation.
Overall I have mixed feelings about the Maybelline Dream BB Pure. I don’t think it’s a terrible product, but I just don’t think that it’s as amazing as they claim it to be. As a foundation I think it’s a gorgeous product and if you buy it for that purpose I think you’ll be happy with it. But if you buy it for its skincare benefits I think you’re better off buying some actual skincare products. Overall it’s a nice product, but it’s not for everyone!
That’s it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this product and also which foundation you’re currently using!
