Making The Most Of Your Shiny Brown Hair With The Guhl Shampoo & Conditioner For Brown Hair!

05/09/2018

I remember that back in the day, when I was much younger, I used to love using the Guhl Shampoo & Conditioner for brown hair. It made my feel very soft and it made it look incredibly healthy and shiny. Throughout the years I tested a lot of different shampoo’s, thanks to which I forgot about these products for a while. When I went to the German drugstore a while ago I saw them again and I decided to buy a tube of each, just to see whether or not it’s still as amazing as it used to be for me. I have been using both products for a couple of months now, so I think it’s only fair to say that I’m ready to review these products. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about these hair care beauties, make sure you continue reading this post!

Let’s start off by talking a good look at the packaging. The shampoo bottle has a very unique, almost triangular, shape to it. I really like it. It is made out of clear plastic -which shows that I waited way too long with taking these product photo’s- and it has a greyish/silver lid. When it comes to the overall look and design of the bottle I think it’s safe to say that they kept everything pretty calm and simple. The bottle does have some information on it about what kind of product this is and what it is supposed to do, but that is pretty much it. At least for the front part. On the back it also has a list of ingredients and it shows what it all claims.

The conditioner from this range comes in a slightly different packaging. Instead of being clear this one is made out of brown plastic. It has the same colour lid as the shampoo does and also in terms of design it’s pretty similar. Something that is very different about it is the shape of the bottle. This one is upside down and doesn’t have that triangular shape to it.

Overall I do like the design of the bottles. They kept things simple and calm and I appreciate that. I also like that the packaging is brown because that automatically makes you think it’s a shampoo for brown hair, which it is. I don’t think that’s absolutely necessary, but it is pretty handy in my opinion. They aren’t the most luxurious looking packagings, but I definitely don’t hate them!

Having thoroughly discussed the packaging of both products, let’s start talking about what’s inside. About the product itself. Starting off with the Guhl Colourshine Brown Shampoo. Because I bought it in Germany it does have a slightly different name printed on the bottle, but in the Netherlands it’s called the Colourshine Brown Shampoo. This shampoo claims to give your hair deep, brown accents for a unique, stiking colour. It has kukui-nut in it, which will make your hair feel silky soft. This shampoo is supposed to directly hydrate your hair.

All in all Guhl makes it sound like this is going to be a pretty nice shampoo. I have naturally brown hair but I do like to dye it from time to time. When I do, using this shampoo really helps to keep that brown colour alive for much longer than it otherwise would. I don’t think that it will make your hair more brown than it already is, but it does really accentuate the brown in your hair and make it look more lively and well, striking.

Another thing I really love about this shampoo is that it actually is pretty hydrating. Most shampoo’s I use are pretty drying and definitely require me to use something hydrating afterwards. However, this shampoo doesn’t seem to be like that. Even though it’s a silicone-free formula it really hydrates my hair and adds a ton of shine to it. And all of that without making my hair look greasy at all. Oh and by the way, this shampoo also smells really amazing!

Guhl Colourshine Brown Shampoo – €6,50

Moving on to the conditioner. Obviously Guhl claims that the shampoo works the best when used in combination with the matching conditioner. I do believe that is true because you get double the effect, and well, I just like using a matching set of shampoo and conditioner. The claims Guhl makes regarding the conditioner are pretty similar to the claims they made regarding the shampoo. They, again, say that it intensifies the unique deep accents of brown hair and makes you hair feel silky soft  thanks to the kukui-nut oil. The main difference in the claims is that they say that the conditioner makes your hair easier to comb through.

Before I start talking about how I like this conditioner, I do want to mention one thing. Usually I exclusively use products that are silicone-free, since silicones make my hair very greasy. This conditioner isn’t silicone-free and therefore it would never be a product I’d use on a daily basis. I have to say that when I use it just every once in a while it doesn’t do much damage, but if you do like to use silicone-free hair care products like I do, this is something to keep in mind.

Anyway, the conditioner does do its job really well. It really does make my hair feel incredible soft and it detangles it like no other conditioner ever. It makes my hair feel so silky, smooth and shiny. I love it! I know that this effect is mainly caused by the silicones in there and therefore it does weigh down my hair a little bit. But I just like the effect so much I think it’s worth it every now and then!

Guhl Colourshine Brown Conditioner – €6,39

Overall these Guhl Colourshine Brown Shampoo & Conditioner really blew my mind. I know that I used to love it when I was younger, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t like these products as much as I do know back then. These products really add a nice accent to your brown hair and make it look even more shiny and silky. The conditioner does have silicones in it which I do think is a bad thing, but aside from that these two products are definitely winners for me!

And that will be it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which products you love using to wash and condition your hair!
